  • Question. So if the Taliban was at one point the legitimate leaders or rulers of this country, why are they considered terrorists? Or are they just remnants of a deposed government? Because if they're being considered terrorists because of links to Al Queda why are we not invading Pakistan? -where 98% of these so called "Taliban Terrorists" call home. Furthermore, if countries are to be invaded because of links to terrorists(the bar has been set), then we are in for a LONG, protracted war.

  • true that we are in it for the long haul. however the Taliban was never recognised in the international community as a legitimate government. Only 2 UN members recognised them. They are terrorists through the means by which they impose fear on the civilian populace to achieve their goals and are by nature, insurgents for attempting to dismantle the current, legitimate and elected government of afghanistan.

  • furthermore, allied nations have been negotiating with Pakistan for years now asking for permission to conduct operations on Pakistani soil, co-operating with their forces to hunt down extremists on their side of the border, so far it hasn't worked but with Pakistan's increased efforts on their part it may not be long before they ask for international assistance. If that is to happen we should see a drastic drop in taliban operations in afghanistan as they would no longer have a place to hide

  • I don't think that the Taliban necesarily even liked Al Qaeda but they let them stay in their country. The Taliban are despots. They impose laws such as: you can not play music in the streets, you must have a beard and some other laws that I don't remember. We can not just invade Pakistan because of the politics and it would be wrong. The Pakistani government is taking their own measures to deal with Al Qaeda.
