There have been a few good spaniards in recent years too and the portugese have a sub 2.10 group of runners. Also, Mr Brown (British) 4th in 2000 and 2004 Olympics. European or white runners as this post denotes can produce good results if they run even paced, they can't respond to big changes of pace etc like the eastern africans can inject.
I am a white marathon runner myself, but for me a good performance is somewhere near 2.45 for the marathon, so I'm not even close to their level )

He was training to become a pro athlete without even realising it. You must admit this sort of thing happens more in devloping countries though, and unfortunately most of these countries are in East Africa, and most people in East Africa aren't white.

i nce watched a tv show episode that said the only time you see a black guy run is when he is holding a football, or away from a bank after he robed it. I guess this is another reason too.
Also to comment on why Kenyans and Ethiopeans run faster. The fact is that they live at altitudes that are 8K ft. and higher therefore have larger lungs, hearts, and more blood. The second reason is because most of the children from these specific areas do not have parents that own cars so from grade school have to run to school. I've read of one guy who had to run 3 miles to school and 3 miles back M-F from kindergarten until high school. Try to think of one "white" guy that fits that profile.
I watched this live and the reason the guy didn't respond is because he didn't hear the question. Second of all the "white" guy ended up losing steam in mile 21 and ended up in about 10th place. He was beat by the Kenyans and Etheopians. This only seems like an awkward moment if you didn't watch the entire broadcast.

Also to comment on why Kenyans and Ethiopeans run faster. The fact is that they live at altitudes that are 8K ft. and higher therefore have larger lungs, hearts, and more blood. The second reason is because most of the children from these specific areas do not have parents that own cars so from grade school have to run to school. I've read of one guy who had to run 3 miles to school and 3 miles back M-F from kindergarten until high school. Try to think of one "white" guy that fits that profile.

I watched this live and the reason the guy didn't respond is because he didn't hear the question. Second of all the "white" guy ended up losing steam in mile 21 and ended up in about 10th place. He was beat by the Kenyans and Etheopians. This only seems like an awkward moment if you didn't watch the entire broadcast.

When he was first starting out Im sure people didn't take him seriously but now that he is that good he demands respect. Black people are generally better athletes, you don't often find black gymnasts or swimmers though, and virtually no cyclists at the top levels which I find strange considering the build of sprinters would be suited for track especially. Kenyans and Ethiopians (eastern Africa people) win long distance races. While black americans win sprint races because 99% are descent of west coast africans. A white american is more likely to win a marathon (or 5.000 or 10.000 m) than a black american.
