  • not the complete right chords for this song. u can hear that when u listen to the song

  • Wrong way

easiest way is look at the clip from the movie

    very stretchy chords

  • Great lesson, has anyone ever told you you kinda look like Gavin Rossdale from Bush? lol.

  • Iam a beginner an was wondering if anyones got the Tabs for this songs solo

  • @rollingstoneblues Try picking up a graffitti yellow 88 strat (which is what this is) pretty cheap.......if you can find one! They only made this color for about a year. Extremely rare and cool.

  • This is incorrect

  • @Replenica Only if you mean by "incorrect" that you have to play it EXACTLY like Prince does on his album. There is no "incorrect" way to play music.

  • @elfhermie Sure buddy... the guitarist is doing a tutorial of a song that was composed by someone else. As a result, his tutorial should reflect the actual chords in the song. He sounds great but the third and fourth chords are incorrect.

  • @mozzmith Ok... and? It's standard tuning and in the key of Bb

  • This is the intro Eb chord which Wendy plays in the movie is..

    e-----6

    B ----8

    G---10

    D----8

    A----6

E----X Tricky chord but its right... and sounds nice!

  • @mozzmith No this is definitely standard tuning

  • GREAT VID! :) .. but .. WHAT TUNING IS IT IN? :) someone please please answer :) thanks! xx

  • @ilovestevilliers standard tuning...

  • @ChrisVGuitarist TTHHAAANNKKKK YYOOOOOUUU!! :D :D

  • are u using standard tuning?

  • He really simplified this song for someone like me who cannot seem to figure out certain songs just from listening to the CD. I know can play this great tune thanks to Michael and this thorough lesson.

  • good

  • Fadd9 = 1 3 5 2 1 1 -> basically a normal F bar chord in the first position with the pinky moved to the fifth position. Ebadd9, likewise with the normal A shape bar chord in the 6th position fingered with the pinky in the 10th position: X 6 8 10 8 6

  • This has been bugging me for ages. Surely this whole lesson would be a lot easier with a capo on the 1st fret and play E major, Asus2, Asus/F# and Dmajor ( or Dsus2 ) ? It sounds the same and is a lot easier ?

  • @charvel. Casswell is a fitness nut, and has never smoked cancer sticks!

  • this guy smokes cigarettes, i can tell these things

  • Look like EMG pickups to me... like Dave Gilmour uses...

  • Put a capo on the first band and you'll be better off :)

  • Any one else notice how he watches the sing go off the side of the screen at 0:08? Lol

  • doesnt really matter if its different, it still sounds exacty the same

  • Rain from mortal kombat was created on the title of the song

    ............yeah

  • @10Dante4 makes sence

  • that aint the way wendy melvoin played it on the purple rain tour

  • Comment removed

  • I learnt it with the stretchy Fadd9 chord.Took a while before I could..:)

  • Comment removed

  • i just checked the video and they are using different fingerings

  • I saw Prince live and it was raining so hard and there were purple spotlights on the rain. So awesome!!

  • Sorry Michael but the basic chords are right but they're not specific enough. The Gm7/11 is played with an open D string, the F is and Fadd9 with the pinky in the 5th pos. and the Eb is also a Eb add 9 played in the 6th position with the pinky in the 10th pos on the G string ;-)

  • @harryscarey - that's how i play it, but for a beginner, those chords can be quite stretchy. I think what Michael shows is a simplified version, which is very good for strumming along and getting your head around the tune. Michael is one of the best tutors at LL also, he doesn't waffle on, and explains things well.

  • @harryscarey

    +1

  • @harryscarey That doesn´t really matter

  • @harryscarey do you know the complete finger setting for the that Fadd9 chord please? I also hear an A on the G-string in the original?

  • @harryscarey You are exactly right. The Fadd9 is an insane stretch while trying to fret the pinky on the 5th fret of the D string, and the middle finger on the second fret of the G string. But that's how Wendy plays it live. my hand is not strong enough.

  • @otakurocklee Exactly right!

  • @harryscarey

u got it almost right in every point.

one add: in the first chord (Bbadd9) there's also the open D string involved.

not so easy to play but the sound speaks 4 itself!

  • once again; you Michael have to make a solo album!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice sound & tone. Would be nice to know what pick ups are in that strat and what amp he is using.

  • @regularguy00001 probably lace sensors

  • @regularguy00001 the pickups are probably lace sensor, not sure though

  • @Jcc515 Thanks

  • @regularguy00001 probably something like a fender twin as that is the industry standered for these kinda lesson companys and those look like lace sensor pickups to me

  • @regularguy00001

It;s an 80's Stratocaster Plus, i believe they are noiseless pickups which is standard on a strat plus. Real 80s creation. Can pick them up on ebay pretty cheap

  • @regularguy00001 Lace Sensor Gold pickups. He is playing a Strat Plus

  • I hear that putting a capo on the first fret makes this a little easier.

  • meh, good lesson but not really a fan of the song

  • He sorta looks like Prince.

  • Whwere did i leave those sequins?

  • good chords, but the picking is wrong

  • balls for you!
