  • AMAZING ED....as always...actually JUST saw this video watching the final revenue flight for N64339..Thanks again for this amazing Tee-Dub paint..she has logged some serious hours in my FS!

  • Both TWA and L-1011 plane are now memories of aviation history. I would like to had been flying on board this aircraft. It was similar to DC-10 now MD-11 but clearly identified by its tail engine.

  • Excellent video of my favorite airlines! I love TWA!!!

  • Is this Avsim for FSX?

  • @sbentjies This is FS9.

  • @edetroit Wow. Scenery is amazing. Is this model made for FSX? and is the scenery available for ten also? Awesome job on the video-couldn't tell it from real footage at times

  • @sbentjies The model was not made for FSX but you might be able to get it into FSX. Pretty sure you will have problems with the panel though. I do not use FSX.

  • @edetroit how can i get this scenery for fs9

  • @pwnedmodder SFO is payware by Fly Tampa

  • Where can I get this plane???

  • Many, many thanks for immortalizing this particular L1011- TriStar.

What memories, I flew TW-N31023 many times as a matter of fact there's a picture taken by Walter Wilson dating back to 2001 at the Kingsman Storage Facility at The Mojave Desert waiting to be scraped!

    What a sin!

  • @TWTR4EVER Hey Hector!, I remember well, you swishing up & down those ailes, on the L1011, The Good Old Days! LOL!!!!, I ran into your Ex (Manny) he's with Jet Blue now!, Are you still Running that bar in Miami (The Cock Pit)

  • @TWTR4EVER My God Hector!, I thought you were Scapped too!, But here you are!, I heard Delta was Looking for a Few Good Cuban Trannies to Push Peanuts!, Did you apply, or are you sticking with your Carmen Miranda `Salue to Fruit`Tribute Review

  • Thanks for making this great video.

I made quite a few flights on their L-1011 when visiting the US and they were one of the best airlines around.

  • Great Tristar video Ed!! Do you plan on releasing the TWA texture?

    Cheers!

  • @knotts06 I thought I had released it..... maybe not. I will upload it to avsim.

  • @edetroit Thanks Ed, appreciate it! :)

  • @edetroit Where can I find this repaint? I love your L1011 repaints.

  • Wow!!! This was really nice. Loved every minute of it. L-1011 rocks!! Thanks so much!!

  • Wow, what Panel do you use? And especially where do you get those Textures for the Wings (spoilers/flaps) from?! I got the Aerosim L1011 but your Textures are way better and well detailed than mine?!

  • @spraaight The panel is not available. For my wing textures etc search for author (Edward Cox) at avsim.

  • That the one I have but mine does not have the vertical strips (engine gages) and I do not know how to open the cargo doors. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. And how did you get the wing view too? Very nicely done.

  • May I ask who's L-1011 is this as I 've been looking for one with opening cargo doors?

  • @TWAB707 The model is a part of Classic liners vol 2 by Aerosim

  • GREAT

  • Wanderful!! I flight on 1992 with TWA Tristar from STL to SFO, your video makes

me remember that experience for mw (I'm italian I was 18 that time and it was my

first time in USA). It would be great you coul add other routes with TWA L-1011,

as SFO-LAX, PHX-JFK, or New York La Guardia-STL; I like to see the Tristar

by external views when it flights...and seeing the midwest landscapes!

    Thank you a lot.

  • (continuation from previous post due to text constraints) If I may ask, how did you get the service vehicles and such to work with the aircraft and how did you get the announcements to play in such a manner that it seems as if they are set to a gauge in the panel? An absolutely subliminal video.

  • @EAL0333 The GSU's and Gate docking are c/o the excellent payware AES by Aerosoft.

  • Your video was simply superb. I do not know any other way to describe it. What astounds me the most is how you managed to alter the virtual cockpit, get the catering trucks and ground service vehicles to work with the aircraft, and what ties it all together are the cabin announcements which (though seemingly generic, are not) which specifically mention the airline.

  • Lovely L-1011, I'm getting mine out the hanger! What sounds are you using?

  • Beautifully done! I loved it.

  • Would love to see a LGA or FLL to STL.

  • @mizzouluvr Ok I will keep it in mind

  • If you have the time, that would be great.

Otherwise, just wanted to thank you for letting me relive a few TW moments.

  • @mizzouluvr My pleasure. What was the flight you wanted?

  • Growing up in the 1980's near STL, the only planes overhead seemed to be OZ or TW.

You have shown my favorite aircraft, the L-1011 in beautiful fashion, and I sincerely thank you !

BTW, do you take requests for flights ?

  • @mizzouluvr Well you can always make requests......whether I have time to do them is another matter.

Once I have finished flirting with the B732 I should be back in the L-10.

  • and how did u record take off and landing in real time?

  • A) where'd u get the beautifual plane with excellrnt cockpit?!?!?! be where'd u get ther realistic contrails??? and enviroments?? this is a great vid!

  • Just awesome!

  • wow are those overhead and FE panel shots from within the simulator? never seen so detailed panel for l-1011 in flight simulator, who made it?

  • Thankyou, I made the Overhead and FE panel. The rest of the panel will be completely custom also. (there are still some Aerosim gauges in this version)

  • @edetroit

great stuff, is there any chance that you will be releasing the panel? L-1011 for me is like the best airliner ever made, so I would go bananas if I could get my hands on a decent version for flight simulator. Aerosim 1011 looks cool, but the panel is just too simple.

  • I can't say. It is a labour of love for me....and I am also doing so much other FS stuff at the same time.

  • @edetroit

    @edetroit

well you could make a lot of L-1011 fans happy :D

I'm just still puzzled, that there are none decent L-1011 out there, I mean they have like a butload of dc-10s and Boeings and what not, but for a 1011 as awesome as it is, there is just aerosims one, witch is not so great, as I said... so your video drawn my attention, as your panel is the most detailed i've ever seen... anyway like I said, looks good, keep it up and make some more vids with 1011 :D

  • I miss the TWA tristars. Used to travel quite frequently on them 727's and 747's with them to and from Europe from JFK and LAX

  • We had L1011-500, international configuration, long range, they came to us from Saudia Airlines. Our two 747SP were involved in the deal, We trained their crews and we ran at one point their training center in RUH (Riyadh) Great airliners both, top of their game! If you look close in one of the TWA tribute videos there's a picture of a TWA-B307 Stratoliner in the ground in Saudi Arabia,( B&W1940's) most people in the picture in typical Arab Tunics!

  • Thanks for not using tail # N1 1002 not very good memories of that particular plane and incident. An aborted takeoff (TW843/JFK-SFO) is not a pleasant experience specially when it involves fire! Regarding the NTSB findings that blemish our maintenance department, I still think the pilot considering a full load and the situation acted accordingly with the training procedures at the time for that aircraft!

  • To edetroit/ TWA L1011-50 was an upgrade of the L1011-100 it never roll out of production as new aircraft, strictly domestic work horse! L1011-500 was international, different configurations, (500 wingspan 50.09m length 50.04m) (100/50 wingspan 47.35m length 54.15 ) I still have some of my old TW Route Bids / TW#904/906 JFK/MAD/JKF equipment L1011-500/B747/100 or B747/200 it could have been either depending on load factors or flight continuations some times in the season it when on to BCN!

  • WOW!!! What fond memories!! I flew for TW from 1975-2000 and stepped down in 2003 when AA took over.....I loved working on the L-10 in the L-1 position. Thnk you for the great video...loved it!!!

Robert JFK-1 TWA Flight Ser. Manager

  • Thankyou for the kind comments Roger, it was my pleasure. I will begin work again soon on the L-10 panel. If you would like a particular TW flight to be re enacted....feel free to suggest one.

  • I vested 10 years in TWA, left when C.Ichan took over and we strike on 86/87, we lost that battle!I was lucky to bounce back with TR (Trans*Brasil) that was in the process of starting SAO/MCO B767-2 later B767-3 But my favorite remains the L1011-500 TW#904/906 JFK/MAD/JFK if you could, that would be awesome! Madrid Barajas Airport is quite an approach!

  • Sounds good to me......but in your ten years in TWA did you not know TWA never had any L1011-500s? . Maybe you meant L1011-50?

  • where did u get that plane i have been looking for one of these for a while now

  • Is there anyway I can get this plane?

  • Edetroit!. I am Tristar fan. I am so love the scene from 3.18- 3.44. It's look so real!. this bird looks so nice and graceful at that scene. Good job! edetroit

  • this is simply amazing. it must of taken a huge ammount of time. well done

  • SFO view after t/o and rh turn shows the a/p with with out the AA/TW Superbay. Shows hanger but not what TW used then. TW leased 1/2 of the hangar from AA. TW half would hold two 747 with a 1011 between them with doors closed. A couple of 727s could fit in between the big birds, but they you would have to move them out before moving the jumbos. I'm just nitpicking, great job! Lots of work, thanks!!!!!! they cut my 1st post so this is the second half! lol thanks, good work...

  • Thankyou very much for your constructive critique!

I cannot do much about the airports or sound....but I can fix the gap in the glareshield and make the FMS/INS just an INS.

  • Good work. Just a few 'errors' TW didn't use gate 80 at SFO. Food truck is the wrong company for SFO. Tug wrong color and type. Cockpit was good. The INS panel didn't have what ever that is above it with all the numbers! I didn't freeze and look close. Glare shield has a cutout that wasn't there. STL doesn't have blast fences around the R/W.

  • Hello edetroit, I like your video's. And i love this L1011 video. Keep on the good work please.I have i like to ask you. Where did you get this L1011 , because i am looking for it a long time but can't find it is it payware?? Please...... will you tel me?? Greetings Marcel The Netherlands Thank you very much

  • I thought this was going to be a video of the real thing, not a sim.

  • I hope you enjoyed it anyway.

  • which Aircraft and Panel is that?

  • It is a L-10ll A/C and the Panels are about 98% correct. Good Job... Loved the smoke on start-up. Engines didn't sound right, but good!!!

  • sorry for posting this reaction here, but i couldn't do it on the original video. Feel free to delete. I couldn't message you, but I hope you can help anyway.

    Here goes:

could you tell me where you got the texture for the air bridge cargo 747-200 please? I'd love to fly with that livery.

Also, what version of fraps do you use?

    Cheers

  • I will upload the ABC 742F to the POSKY site soon.

I use a registered version. I found it far more fps friendly than the demo version.

  • Hello edetroit

Could you tell me what you use for capturing these videos (without framerate loss obviously)? I would love to make a movie just like you with the Antonov 124 which visits Ostend sometimes.

Please let me know. I would be forever grateful.

    Tobias

  • I use Fraps for video capture ....unfortunately there is some framerate loss.

  • another great one from you

    the l1011 sounds like a 747-200

  • Really, your videos are the best!

  • Hey

great video! I was wondering if this panel is completely custom? If so, would you consider releasing it when it is totally finished?

    Thanks!

  • Nice!

  • Once again a great video! Just love the part at 2:30 where we can see you departing and the 747 arriving!

  • I couldn't agree more. Ed's the best, and just keeps getting better.

  • your computer is absolutely incredible!!!

  • How do you make such beautiful scenery and how do you get the ATC to sound like that?

    Beautiful Video

  • Love the engines on that bad boy Ed! ( :30) You did the paint of course?

  • Of course.....I was very lucky. The engine tex were off a high def photo of a RAF Tristar before they painted the stripe.

  • The main paint in fact was made from a photo of a scrapped TWA L-10 at Kingman Mohave County Airport - KIGM by Keith Burton

  • Great Video as always Ed! Good to see the Tristar again. What if any ground textures or landclass do you use?

    ~Chris

  • All default FS9

  • Sublime as usual, Ed....love the shot of your DLC gauge working the spoilers just before touchdown! Always happy to see a Tristar vid, even if it's a bit "retro".

  • Another enjoyable video!

  • great vid, Ed...just wondering, is there some airline flying the tristar nowdays?

  • I think the Biman is still flying....just not to LHR or JFK anymore. Most of the others are for charters.. Luzair, EuroAtlantic etc.

I don't think any of my favourite aircraft will be around much longer....my sim will have to be a retro sim I guess.

  • Fantasic video as always! 5*

    Wheres this plane from

    xxx

  • Whoa!...who is giving me kisses!?...better be a gal!

Wow it is!.....erm the model is by Aerosim...part of the Classic Liners Vol 2 package.

  • Thanks, nice repaint too

  • I love that shot on takeoff with the 747 landing on 28R

  • I nearly caught a simultaneous landing by an AAL MD-82 at STL as well (it as landing on Rwy12R

  • Another great video from u man. i'm jelous of all your planes, they look so cool !

  • Indeed, nicely done. Is this a Capt. Sims plane?

  • Great as usual Edetroit, congrats, were do you get this DLC working with aerosim?

  • For the moment my DLC gauge is only available to my panel beta testers.

  • Great vid. You should create your own website and post some advice and other cool stuffs to help us enjoy more of our hobby as you really seem to be a pro and know what you are talking about.

    Comments from a big fan

  • can you do a request for me Ed?

If so can you do Miami INTL - Orlandi INTL In an American Airlines Boeing 757?

    THanks

    From Ben

  • Good Morning Edetroit!

This is the first time when im posting to your videos even if im a subscriber (and a fan) of yours for about half a year now.

I just cant keep my question anymore. :)

How do you make your panel show up the yoke on each plane? :)

  • The Yoke is an XML gauge which is another window...It is (has to be) custom made for each panel.

  • oh right. Thanks! :)

  • What STL airport is that?

    Your videos are awesome!

  • kstlv1-1.zip

Not much in the way of airport scenery but adds the newish Rwy 11/29

  • nice as always edetroit, Your suberb panels are so eye candy :)

  • Great video... again... I must say that I always enjoy watching your recordings as they show rare and quality footage. I admire your enthusiasm and attention for details (especially with cockpit customizations). And it only shows that FS community is still alive and kicking in spite the problems it has... Great job!

  • Great video! By the way, what kind of flight sim controls do you have set-up?

  • CH Products Yoke/ Pedals/ Throttle.

  • nice vid!

  • Nice dude

  • Magnificient work ed, as usual ! Too bad those great airplanes are leaving the skies more and more (along with the DC10 Id say). Keep up the awesome job

  • this is the thing i love about fs9 u can have tons of add ons but frame rates dont drop. and btw AWESOME vid

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing as always Ed, thank you for another fantastic video!

  • wow, 3:16-3:45 looks extremely real! Very nice video, 5 stars :)

  • Brilliant ed!

    Was that Flytampa's San Fransisco?

And how do you write the approaches into FS?

  • Very good

  • One of your best videos, 90% retro, if you know what I mean LoL.

What program did you use to edit the approach code and are those ailerons or spoilers (by hand) moving at 4:50 when still airborne? I mean, did you steer them or did they move because they're part of the ailerons at that time?

  • Thankyou. For the approach code you need SDE. It is a decompiler that you need from scruffyduck software ..and notepad.

At 4:50 you are seeing DLC in action (Direct Lift Control) I have written a gauge that controls my spoilers with joystick movements. (google direct lift control). The L10 was ahead of it's time.

  • Just had another look...in fact I can see a combo of aileron movement (linked to the spoilers if past a certain degree) and DLC (the spoilers are linked to forward and back movement of the joystick also)

Note : The autopilot is off at this stage but DLC would also work with the autopilot.

  • I believe that is the DLC.

  • Wow, very nice and interesting. So that means that the extended spoilers are affecting the lift? You should join a proffessional FS aircraft design group.

There's only a FSX version of SDE avaliable at scruffyduckscenery(.)co(.)uk . It says that it cannot generate FS9 bgl-files. Is there another place to download it?

  • great work! 5* looks damn authentic!

  • Nice Vid Ed!

I have to say, that smokey startup was my favorite part!

  • good flight mate! just asking is tht your fav aircraft =D

  • I would like her to be...I have made custom fuel/hydraulics/overhead/radio and throttle panels. I need to replace/rewrite the Aerosim autopilot and engines gauges/systems...then she will be great.

  • Nice to see you back Ed!

  • First rate 5/5! Congratulations!

  • Great as always ed .
