im bolton ct we got a guy putting in sewer lines for the whole town and he has every machine he needs he has a cat 345 with a conveyer , 2 cat loaders , 1 volvo excavator , a cat 225 with a hammer , a cat 214 wheeled excavator with a plate compactor , a volvo ec 55 mini excavator , a leeboy 7000 , a bomag mini roller , and 2 kenworth tri axle dumps
we would do that job with one more excavator with a compaction wheel on backfill and instead of dedicating a loader with a special bucket to just rocking we would use a bedding box right behind the digging machine so the loader could keep the job clean behind
I find it harder to see grades and dig safely around utilities with the teeth on the digging bucket. We use blades on our buckets
