For all those who say dells suck, macs suck, and all that, i have a couple of solutions for you: de-fragment, then move all of your personal files to an external hard disk. then buy an sdd and put your os on that. then uprade your processor and ram to the max your mobo will let you. this is theONLY way to make a "slow" computer "fast" Or, like i did, build your own pc, and have a netbook handy

Mine slowed down after my dad put McAfee Security Center (purchased) just yesterday i think that may be the problem but my PC has anti-virus now so I'm not sure plus i can't open up Blockland (purchased) dedicated servers anymore because i time out everytime i try to connect to it so that was another sign Google Chrome was gone on the same day as well so maybe it affected my PC in a funny way but I'm not sure Blockland isn't a virus its a game i deleted Oblivion and its a little faster now

I had a Celeron computer, with 250 mb on RAM, and a hard drive of 70 gb, it started to be kind slow, i read, what would help me was to uninstall programs, defragment the hard drive… Later i found a program: "Lightspeedpc", which defragment the hard drive, delete tempo… I didn't download it, i was afraid, but i dared it, i bought it, and my computer started to run as it was new again. I REALLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

@garrash6 Rams are not programs, they are hardware which you need to install it directly into your motherboard. By upgrading your ram alone will not necessarily speed up your PC if your processor is not powerful enough to take advantage of the ram.

Rubbish - NONE of this stuff will noticeably speed up your computer. There is only ONE thing that will speed up your computer to lightning fast speed - and that is to erase unused drive space on your C drive. (Use Eraser)

There is only one catch to doing that - and that is after restart it will just slow down again. That part I have yet to figure out.

goto run type in msconfig

click start up tab

then un check all the programs(msn yahoo stuff that you can just clik on if you want to use it)

Your computer uses virtual memory when it runs out of standard system memory - I'd go through my Hello World video series to optimize your computer and remove unnecessary programs running in the background first - then move forward with upgrading your RAM if it is still necessary.
