Coast Guard boot camp is fun and pretty easy. The caliber of people in the Coast Guard is vastly superior to any other service. I'm not saying anything negative about the others but it's true. If you are considering military service, do yourself a favor and join the USCG. That is, if you qualify. This isn't the army or navy where they take criminals and people with IQs of 60. Haha
I hated the first CC I got, and loved the second one. But when I graduated, I went to my old CC's office and actually gave him a hug of thanks. He saw what I needed, even though I didn't, and it made me who I am. Thank you Petty Officer Smith. Alpha 138.
Im going into the coast guard im getting into shape as I speak right now doing a lot of pushup and situps a day a lot of chin up and pullups a day and running 3 miles everyday and im pushing my self further everyday
@kattieshack I was also doing the same thing, however, I broke my ankle. So I'm just recovering but I still do situps and pushups. Keep pushing yourself. When are you joining?
@tharr61 lol no one likes you! thats wat u get for thinking any branch of the military, even the coast guard, is easy. its the military, its never easy. you might be a marine but u have no respect for those who fight for this country so dont get cocky.
Oh, and just to let you know, the Coast Guard has been in the Quasi-War, the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War, Vietnam, Kosovo, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Here is a hint, don't talk about another service unless you know the history. Because unlike the Navy, the Coast Guard is the longest CONTINUOUS service in the United States.
My fiancé was planning on seeing the recruiter today.....I have been in service of the US Army for 15 years and currently medically retiring after sustaining injuries during Operation Iraqi Freedom, our training was HELL in bootcamp, but it was just eight weeks, during those eight weeks it seemed like bootcamp was forever, but afterwards, it really is short. A small price to pay to defend and protect our countries freedom, my mother was a Marine, My Father a Soldier, Her Father was a Master Chi
i cant wait to join them i just gotta get in shape first before going there then ill get in even better shape and turn myself into a well repected man of the united states coast guard
@The2007Marine ANY MAN CAN KILL.......BUT A REAL MAN WILL SAVE EVEN WHEN HE HAS NOTHING LEFT. ASK YOUR COMMANDING OFFICER ABOUT THE BATTLE OF GUAM AND WHO SAVED YOU.
As far as tharr ass wipe 61 one is concerned. If the Marines are taught to be arrogant and egotistical, why would a person want to be worst as possible? No one actually respects you in actuality. Anyone. What difference does it make to say what you consider anyway? It doesn't matter what you think. YOU are subject to laws and when you are commandant or even lieutenant colonel then you can make statements on what you think. You obviously are doing nothing because you have time for stupidity.
Well all these people sit here and act like marines are everything your fuckin wrong there all trained for diff things and will do better in those things think befor u speak coast guards and navy get so underestimated but they both play big rolls
@greysparctice Don't do that. Ignore them. People like this do not know the constitution. Yes they are military and are the Armed Forces. Do not pay him or her any attention. All branches are known for different things. Some people get a since of cockiness but do not entertain that foolishness. To hell with them. It isn't even up to them where they life will end up.
@Sept0pus a little peice of advice from a ME3 in the good ol USCG, whatever your doing to workout times that by 3 because what ever you think is a good workout is no where closes enough to the ass-whoop'ins ahead, also listen to what your cc's are say not how they say it...ugg theres so many little crap things that can READY you for it if you what some tip e-mail me back future coastie.
It was great while I was in. One day, you could face a search and rescue situation, a drug bust or get shot. We took a 180 foot ship built for the Great Lakes from Alaska to Hawaii and back in a major storm both ways. Got to be lowered from a helicopter with a shotgun onto a suspected drug runner. Nah, the Coast Guard doesn't do anything.
To anyone thinking of joining any of the branches. Research that service and pick a field or trade that interests you, take the tests, get it in writing from your recruiter before going to boot camp that you will be attending A-school for that field or trade directly after boot camp. If you don't, you will be low man or woman, cleaning, chipping and painting, wishing you hadn't joined. It will also be harder for you to get into an A-school, you'll have to strike for one.
Its a part of the Department of transportation. If I need to learn how to wear a life vest or tie a knot. I'll get advice from the CG. As for being egotistical, I am very egotistical because that is the way they trained us. I respect the CG for what they do, but I don't think they should be considered military.
@tharr61 You should learn your history and what the coast guard is about before you start criticizing. CG is a part of the military and has been since 1790. Yes the cg does go to war, they are currently in Iraq and Afghanistan. The cg has been in every single war this country has been in. They are part of both the DOT and DHS, and under DOD during war. And after this war they will still be in combat with drug dealers. Unlike marines and army who go home and drill. Learn some humility man.
@tharr61 Actually, it is part of the Department of Homeland Security now and was originally part of the Treasury Department, before being moved the the Departmant of Transportation in '66. Being formed on Aug. 4, 1790, it is also the oldest sea going service, predating the Navy by 9 years.
@tharr61 HOLY HELL MAN THEY SERVE UNDER THE US FLAG THEY SAVE YOUR ASS AND THEY MAKE SURE YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT MY DAD WAS A P01 IN THE USCG, AND IGNORANT PEOPLE LIKE YOU THAT PLAY COD ALL DAY DISRESPECT HIM! THE MARINES THERE JUST A BUNCH OF JAR HEADS THAT BLOW UP THINGS LEARN YOUR FACTS ASS!
@boorpo There is no need to call Marines that. I have a lot of respect for Marines, I have a lot of respect for all the services. However, I don't have respect for service members who continuously give the military a bad rap. Every service has its mission, and they wouldn't be able to do their missions without the help of the others.
@tharr61 Umm, well not just that they make sure drugs or illegal pirates and (Water threats) dont come abroad land maybe your looking at the wrong MOS...
@wefinishthefight, the navy cold do their job, but ever branch plays a different role in everything. if you think its so easy then you should do it. guarentee you woulod crack like a little baby. if your out at sea on a boat and it happens to be sinking because of some reason, you wont be thanking the navy for saving your life. you will be thanking the Coast Guard. if you dont like the Coast Guard, I DARE you to say it to the officers face and see what he has to say about.
Holy shit, CG boot camp is fucking pathetic! It must be really hard being in a class full of females. If you want to avoid a war and get your G.I Bill join the puddle pirates!
Join the Marines and quit being a bunch of vaginas!!!!!!!
@tharr61 All I have to say is Fuck YOU and Fuck Marines. I have never in my life met a humble Marine. Every single Marine I've encountered, or seen post something on YouTube or any other website is extremely arrogant with an egotistical idea that they are the only ones that have it hard, or that do any type of service for the country. I say bring every soldier, every airman, every seaman home from war and let "the Marines" do all the work. Lets see how far they'll get. Have more respect assholes
@tharr61 Yeah, it must be really hard if you're gay. I guess you're implying that you are. You also just completely disrespected female Marines. Good job asswipe.
@tharr61 Marines have some of the same non combat jobs that all the branches have... Finance, cook, band, camera man, public affairs, legal services, etc... Just because someone is a marine doesn't mean they are running around with a gun in Afghanistan. Respect all branches because they are all different but have one common goal, To protect our country?
@tharr61 and you might be surprised that the Coast Guard actually has the hardest basic training of all the 5 branches. Marines have the hardest physical training, but the coast guard's is only very SLIGHTLY easier. The coast guard also has much more difficult academic and mental training. Giving the Coast Guard the most difficult training in all of the armed services.
@tharr61 You are the first Marine I have ever heard of that actually disrespects the Coast Guard up front. Might want to go and research WWII, it was a Coast Guard member that gave his life for an entire Battalion of your brothers, making sure that you guys got out safe. So think about your brothers before you make comments like that, because you basically just spit on your own family by saying that.
@tharr61 So are you saying that I have to join the CG instead of the Marines (which is what I may want to do, no offense to the CG) since I'm a girl? Considering you said "It must be really hard being in a class full of females." WTF?
@singitconnolly15 just fyi the CC(company commanders) and the DS(drill sergents) are just as rough on the females as the males, and theres no platoon or company of just females
whoever disrespects the Coast Guard and think that the ARMY & Marines are the only ones in battle are fucking retarded and need to stop playing Call Of Duty and shit its messing up your info and your brain faggs
Interesting to see how some of the bootcamp is just like Navy bootcamp. It looks way more intense than what Navy bootcamp was. Definitely seems like theres a lot more yelling and whatnot. Maybe I just lucked out and had easy RDCs. I was going to join the Coast Guard but ended up going with the Navy. I wish I would have stayed with the USCG because I think of where I'd be all the time. I'm definitely going to try to get in when my 4 years is up.
you need to learn your history fag, my grandfather was the captain of the U.S.S eagle battle ship and is now a 35 year retires Coast Guard captain...show some respect queer
Don't disrespect the USCG. I was AF/ANG but I also put in a couple years as a volunteer Coast Guard Auxiliarist and I met some of the most dedicated military personnel in any of the Armed Forces. They've got so many different missions: maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, working with the Navy, and they're the smallest service. It's no wonder their boot camp is hardcore and they're good to go.
my grandpa got lost in the fog on his motor boat. the coast guard got lost trying to find him. we had to tell the coast guard where to go to find him. lol.
PAPA-183 forever, I can look back at all this and laugh now, but while it was happening I was always questioning: "What in the hell did I do?" For everyone thinking about joining do it, it will be the best decision you ever made in your life.
And to everyone who disses us, I don't care, say what you want, whats important is the fact that when your floating out in the water getting rescued you sure will be glad to see us.
The Coast Guard piloted the landing craft at Normandy during the June 6, 1944 invasion...thought you might want/need to know. Also, living near the water I often see the Coast Guard active on searches or patrolling the waters.
@wefinishthefight A lot of Coast Guard men are over in Iraq right now, and they played a crucial role in Vietnam. Do some research before you run your mouth.
um I was seriously thinking about joining the coast guard and doing the Health Services Technician program, but I didn't know it was a branch off of the military. NEVER MIND
@WeFinishTheFight If you are part of ANY branch in the military, you should have more class and respect than to say things like that about the Coast Guard. You should be ashamed to talk that way about anybody who is in the military, whether it be USCG, USMC, Army, Navy, Airforce....hopefully your not from any military branch because I would be embarrased to have you represent our country with all that disrespect you have.
@WeFinishTheFight Actually the Navy couldn't. The Navy wouldn't be able to keep up with war, homeland security, law enforcement, environmental protection, ice breaking, waterway management, rescue and aids to navigation. There is a reason why the Coast Guard is a different branch.
Actually, with respect, I want to be a boarding officer in the coast Guard and they I saw a video on the main coast guard website where the master chief said that the coast guard law enforcement is the only agency, and the only 1 of the 5 military branches that actually has the jurisdiction to board and intersect that vessel carrying illegal weapons, drugs, etc. So at the end of the day, every branch plays a very key role in protecting this country.
@WeFinishTheFight You do realize coast guard drove the boats on D-day, they were in Vietnam. They even sent a group of their men into a fight to save a squad. They drove cutters up the rivers in Vietnam and saw plenty of action doing so. They are currently in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. They are fighting the Somali pirates as well. Before you make such bold statements maybe you should consult a history book. I know these things because i just joined the Coast Guard asshole.
@nathanryanmatt69 All branches of the military pay for your college. Everyone who serves at least one enlistment and is Honorably discharged after that enlistment qualifies for the G.I. Bill. Oh yeah and tax payers pay for your boot camp. ;)
@nathanryanmatt69 Im pretty sure they pay for basic training, and most of your college. They longer you enlist the more they pay and the larger the bonus's are
@ShaunHemp my uncle joined the army 3 times and each time he was told not to try again cuz he has asthma. he passed all of boot camp but then at the end gave him an honorable discharge. i think its the same with the coast guard or anyother military branch
@ShaunHemp yea ive got it too a recruiter told me tho (sense i havnt had any problems nor have to use medicine in over 3 years) that if its signed off by a doctor id be fine
@ShaunHemp If you need an inhaler daily then you probably can't go. But if its no longer a problem then just don't say anything. Remember don't ask don't tell can be applied in other areas of the military.
everyone of the recruits in this video were awarded the bronze star with a combat "V" for graduating boot camp

@WeFinishTheFight
you need to learn your history fag, my grandfather was the captain of the U.S.S eagle battle ship and is now a 35 year retires Coast Guard captain...show some respect queer

Do some research before you run your mouth.

always respected coast guard. you don't hear much about these men and women, but they are in the fight too! god bless ALL U.S armed forces.

@crucialconflict02 I promise you that the USCG is not in any fight and never has been.
WeFinishTheFight 1 year ago
@WeFinishTheFight ok so they don't fight wars or w/e..but they are still doing something thats important.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@crucialconflict02 Not really man, The coast guard is a very useless branch. The Navy could do the job the coast guard is doing.
WeFinishTheFight 1 year ago
@WeFinishTheFight If you are part of ANY branch in the military, you should have more class and respect than to say things like that about the Coast Guard. You should be ashamed to talk that way about anybody who is in the military, whether it be USCG, USMC, Army, Navy, Airforce....hopefully your not from any military branch because I would be embarrased to have you represent our country with all that disrespect you have.
bellaamore216 1 year ago
@WeFinishTheFight Actually the Navy couldn't. The Navy wouldn't be able to keep up with war, homeland security, law enforcement, environmental protection, ice breaking, waterway management, rescue and aids to navigation. There is a reason why the Coast Guard is a different branch.

@WeFinishTheFight
they have been involved in every major conflict since the 1800's, during WWII they operated under the US Navy so... Youre an idiot :)

@WeFinishTheFight
God Bless

@WeFinishTheFight You do realize coast guard drove the boats on D-day, they were in Vietnam. They even sent a group of their men into a fight to save a squad. They drove cutters up the rivers in Vietnam and saw plenty of action doing so. They are currently in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. They are fighting the Somali pirates as well. Before you make such bold statements maybe you should consult a history book. I know these things because i just joined the Coast Guard asshole.

man im nervous about going.. i have one more year till im ready
i wrestle and do many sports so im not too worried about the phitness part
but does the coast guard pay for your college or do they pay you for basic training
nathanryanmatt69 1 year ago
@nathanryanmatt69 All branches of the military pay for your college. Everyone who serves at least one enlistment and is Honorably discharged after that enlistment qualifies for the G.I. Bill. Oh yeah and tax payers pay for your boot camp. ;)
capen2007 1 year ago
@nathanryanmatt69 Im pretty sure they pay for basic training, and most of your college. They longer you enlist the more they pay and the larger the bonus's are

ShaunHemp 1 year ago
@ShaunHemp my uncle joined the army 3 times and each time he was told not to try again cuz he has asthma. he passed all of boot camp but then at the end gave him an honorable discharge. i think its the same with the coast guard or anyother military branch
jasminels94 1 year ago
@ShaunHemp yea ive got it too a recruiter told me tho (sense i havnt had any problems nor have to use medicine in over 3 years) that if its signed off by a doctor id be fine
Mcgigglepies14 1 year ago
@ShaunHemp no the coast guard will not take you if you are a current asthmatic, no branch will
DampielX 1 year ago
@ShaunHemp If you need an inhaler daily then you probably can't go. But if its no longer a problem then just don't say anything. Remember don't ask don't tell can be applied in other areas of the military.
