as a person who makes electronic music i can affirm that the parameters this person set up were very restricting. as a person who wants to get a MoPho, i say 'thanks for convincing me to buy something i already wanted to." thumb up good tune.
I have my tetra now :D Doing stuff like this is really fun - I have an MBase01 for kick + the 4 synth parts + sp404 for random samples and effects... people tend to go overboard when buying hardware.. I say, make use of what you've got!
Great track!!! Almost like composing on the C64 ... 3 voices (1 vco + 1 envelope each) + 1 combined filter ... Vibrato and Portamento if your software provides it. You should give it a try - it's great frunstration and it sounds good too :)
wow... ok did you use the compute to create the sequence or you do that from the unit itself? are the patchs all made from the front panel or did you use the software for that? good work for sure. great way to show this thing off.
hoping to get mine soon myself so i been just checking out vids lol
This is by far the best Dave Smith Mopho demo out there. Seriously well done. I would love to see what you can do with this synth in a multitrack DAW environment... Any chance you can dump your patches for us :D :D :D
How did you manage to record this, I mean since the Mopho seem to be "monotimbral"!? Would like to see the rest of u'r secrets since it sounds really nice... ;p
Thoroughly enjoyed. It's funny watching this in comparison to gear videos with an entire wall of boutique synths but no actual music. I haven't heard a track comprised of one piece of gear sound this good in awhile. Thanks for sharing.
This is brilliant ! Does the MoPhot have a micro tuning feature ? in 1:35 I noticed that the Bach fuge motive has the G note sounding a bit sharper than it should.
right ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'd completely fail at this challenge, the mopho is my first midi able , sequenceable , mono synth.(actually my first NON-vintage synth as well) . this came out bitchen ! thanks for keeping me interesteed !
This is still the best demo of a Mopho I've come across. Does a great job at showing off the sounds without just being a boring preset/knob tweak demo. And it's a pretty sweet track as well.
That's a lot of action from that little unit. I've got his Evolver mono box - it' pretty cool. The sequencer is kind of hairy to run with that knob matrix but the sounds are unique.
This is excellent! Sometimes you get the best results by setting yourself some limitations. And what a great way of getting to know your instrument as well.
Mostly, they were on one track. Basically, i'd have sequencer 1 run the oscillator mix (osc1 being a sine for the kick, osc2 being inactive), sequencer 2 controlling the filter, and sequencer 3 the noise amplitude for hats/snare :)

Great job! Great idea also... Forgive my ignorance, did you record this into a DAW ? Was it recorded in real time? Thanks, B

I hope you do more of these with a video of you tweaking the mopho for each layered track. this is truly inspirational

Excellent Demo! Thankfully DSI now sells four Mophos in one box so you don't need to do any multitracking, I'm ordering a Tetra soon...

The sequencer has several tuning options for every note, yes. :) So it's, sort of, basic microtuning.

limitation breeds creativity. . Why I think that having 1 piece of gear is better than an infinite library of choice (a'la software)
The fact that you actually learnt to push your gear shows.. good job

lovely, setting limits on creativity can often give you more freedom and this is a good example...
that mopho sounds fantastic...

Awesome sound. I have an Evolver but I still want a Mopho. I really like the way you did this track.
I find myself balking when I have too many options. You make me want to do a track like this with my Evolver.
I think the thing I like the most about this are the percussion-type sounds. Gotta love analog drums (especially when they sound this GOOD!).

do the drums fit in just one seq track? or you have to separate them on individual tracks?
