It's me, again. I also play the piano and organ. Today (January 8, The Baptism of Our Lord), we sang this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #800 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.
Beautiful hymn came into my spirit while in prayer didn't know all the words but that God I found it on YouTube the words said everything I needed to say and should be saying.
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Judges 3:15-25, 29-30 is your Scripture for the day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.
Great song! 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.
Beautiful!

"Teach me to feel that Thou art always nigh;
Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,
To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;
Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

The final line of the hymn says: "My heart an altar and Thy love the flame". It is one of the great lines in English hymns. And may it be so, Lord.
