  • It's me, again. I also play the piano and organ. Today (January 8, The Baptism of Our Lord), we sang this as the Hymn of the Day. It is #800 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship.

  • Beautiful hymn came into my spirit while in prayer didn't know all the words but that God I found it on YouTube the words said everything I needed to say and should be saying.

  • "Teach me to feel that Thou art always nigh;

    Teach me the struggles of the soul to bear,

    To check the rising doubt, the rebel sigh;

    Teach me the patience of unanswered prayer.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. This is to all denominations: If Judges 3:15-25, 29-30 is your Scripture for the day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.

  • Intro

    [(C)And make me (F)love Thee as I (C)ought (G)to (C)love.]

    Verse 1

    (C)Spirit of (G)God de-(F)scend upon my (C)heart:

    (C)Wean (Am)it from (Em)earth (D)thro'

    (G)all its (D)pulses (G)move.

    (G)Stoop to my weak-(F)ness, (G)mighty as Thou (G)art,

    (C)And make me (F)love Thee as I (C)ought (G)to (C)love.

  • Great song! 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.

  • We sang tis in high school. the crowd went crazy.

  • The final line of the hymn says: "My heart an altar and Thy love the flame". It is one of the great lines in English hymns. And may it be so, Lord.
