Kinnock was a brilliant platform orator and a good party manager. However, he wasn't electable with the middle-classes of England and was too verbose in his answers in interviews and in the House of Commons. He could damage Thatcher when he was to the point, but would waffle on occasions, and get it wrong such as Westland. I have seen an interview of his in 1983 just before becoming leader and he used words he didn't need to and repeated himself.

Obviously you have the wealth to take advantage of private healthcare, which is fantastic for you. However if the individualism of the upper classes in this country (whose attitude was similar to the vitriol you are spouting) was not broken by Bevan then those of us who don't have the means to decide who provides for our health would be in a very sorry state. You also seem to be confusing fascism with socialism. The latter improves society for all while the former crushes it.

You're mistaken. I live in a working class village with my mother who is a single parent. The reason that families like mine cannot afford private healthcare is because so much of our money is taken by the state and spread around to those who haven't worked for it. Socialism is profoundly immoral. 

Fascism is socialism. The fascists fought the socialists so bitterly because they were brothers and they fight the hardest.

And the idea that socialism improves society is fatuous and not borne out by the evidence. Britain was destroyed by the medicine of Bevan, Attlee and the late Michael Foot and it took a dose of Friedmanite monetarism to save us. Socialism cannot work because morals are subjectively defined not objectively, and socialism can only work if one set of moral values can be ascribed to all people, which is ludicrous. Only capitalism is the ideology of human nature and the human spirit.

Ah Milton Friedman never heard him referred to as a saviour before. Thatcher introduced monetarism and neoliberalism, the very same person who declared that there was no such thing as society only men and women. Similarly if the state did not take your money and spread it around to institutions like the NHS, which provide essential services there would not be a society to speak of. Therefore rendering the role of the state pointless.

The prisoners in the USSR and China who smuggled his monographs into their gulags considered him a hero. Society is a subjective concept and Thatcher was right to say so. Individuals are the only thing that exist.  Society is a construct of the mind.

Most of these ''essential services'' were provided by charity before the state destroyed altruism and because they were run by local people who understood local needs, they were more adept at running these free services. No charge in taxation

Yes she managed to ram that down our throats while dissolving all forms of social solidarity in favour of individualism, and "liberty" which only the business classes had the pleasure of exploiting. Did the state destroy altruism and charity, where only the poorest of patients received free healthcare or rather did it destroy an inefficient healthcare system whereby deaths from pneumonia, tb, meningitis, diphtheria and polio were common place and you had to pay for the luxury?

Well, if you believe people are naturally socialists, then you should have no problem with a government emphasising individual liberty, because according to you, they will use their liberty to spread their wealth around voluntarily and they will voluntary surrender private ownership of industry.
