Good work Hickok45! I love firing up your radio cast and just playing swtor or browsing the web because it so relaxing and good information. I really do not spend time reading over hundreds of people(s) comments, because of things you have mentioned on this radio cast, but I understand you have to so you can reach out to your followers. Just remember it is the web and because of this it is easier for people to be jerks to get noticed (AKA Trollers). Don't ever stop doing these videos.
Great Comments Hickok45, What the haters don't realize is that while they think they are hiding behind a computer screen anonymously every Internet connection has an IP address which is similiar to a mailing address and can be found out if you know where to look by being just a little computer savy.
the picture for this Radio Show is awesome... never seen that Perfect "O" at the muzzle before.
The University of Oregon should purchase the rights to this picture... as it almost perfectly resembles the "O" that the Oregon Ducks use for their logo!
I have to say, 70% - 75% of those comments, show how the person really is. It gives you a clear picture of who people are. I hate that people grow up conforming to society views. (Granted not all of them are wrong) The world is full of harsh people but just because a person does not conform doesn't make them wrong. This is a good portion of the reason we keep losing rights, IMHO.
@ 12:41 you are talking about me and an my grandson Scotty! we baby sit on thursdays when his mom and dad go bowling. its thursday and he has called me twice to ask if we have popcorn and soda-pop for Hickok45 night, when I said yes, he said life is good gramps, lol. I have a surprise for him tonight, as my 52" plasma is now linked to my computer! I told him we were mentioned on the radio show and he was really blown away!
@WhiskeyRiverRifleman, That's great. I hope the Nanny State and Child Protection Services are not monitoring your comments. They just might send in a Swat Team and have you arrested for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor some Thursday evening. How terrible, allowing a young kid to watch shooting on the Internet! :-)
How is it even possible there are 22 dislikes, must be the racists or the anti gun folk having an off day I guess. If you can't love Hickok you have issues. Thank you again for all you do for us!
Seems to me that thw gun manufacturers benefit greatly from youtube. They should contribute to an administrator that would oversee some of the content on the youtube gun sites. If someone is a jerk too much, they get pulled. Too bad that you a;lready have a day job hickok45. You would be an excellent choice!
I just wish that all of the folks making youtube gun videos would apply your standards to their videos. That would help tremendously. There are verry good youtubers and there are some real flakes and when the flakes trash the good ones, that really stinks. There are no professional youtubers thankfully! We as viewers and contibutors need to uphold standards or watch it go to negative extremes that portray the gun community in verry bad ways. I am glad that you are here hickok45. Thank you.
As a younger shooter, 16, I can agree with you. People can be very... opinionated, and one of those is children with firearms. Some think that children should be kept away from firearms, but I believe that children should be encouraged to be shown firearms and how much fun they can be. when I was about 10, I was deathly afraid of firearms and afraid of what it could do, but now, I would not be afraid to carry one on my person, but unfortunately, I cannot because of age. I love watching the show!
@TheWVUfan95 They should be exposed to them at a young age so they know how to handle them safely. When I turned 4 I got a BB gun and with it I was taught the basic rules of firearm safety. Ever since then, safe gun handling has been second nature to me. If for some reason, when I was 4 or 5 I came across a loaded gun, I was educated enough to know what NOT to do. By age 9 I was deer hunting with a Marlin 30-30. If we educated children instead of SHELTERING them, there would be less "accidents".
@MeLlamoBradly Instead they learn everything about guns from video games and the media; and they get some funny notion that for some reason that makes them an expert... Or they don't know anything about guns and they find one and think "wow I wonder what happens if I pull this?"
I`m glad that 95% of Hickoks viewers are interested in guns and genuine people.....Good that we don`t get ALOT of trolls. Hickok your never biast towards a gun company, you don`t bag out other gun company`s, ammo company`s or anything like that. Your not racist or rip on other people or products and i think that is pretty much why you have the #1 gun channel.
It's nice to hear you talk about things relating to the world around shooting, rather than the firearms themselves. I really should visit the states sometime.
About helping you with some of the simple questions to new shooters, I have to confess that I'm guilty of one of those questions. I was really introduced to shooting just over a year ago and so it was as recently as 9 months ago that I asked, "9mm or .40 for my first gun?". Thank you, Hickok, for your patience and for answering and I will try to return the favor now that I am much, much more educated in the ways of firearms.
A Bersa Thunder .380 was my first handgun. I traded it some time ago and I've regretted it. It really was a good gun, never failed, and was a really good shooter. On the other hand I like to shoot so I find myself shooting .22 lr and 9 mm the most anyway.
Another great show. You have a unique, entertaining, and informative page that people appreciate. Thanks for posting the vids and sharing your experiences.
I'm not a Christian anymore (forgive me). But I was at one time. So I know what the bible says about honoring thy father and mother. If you knew my father, and regardless of whether you were Christian, I think you'd forgive me for being perfectly willing to trade him in.
John is a lucky man, in my opinion.
And, in my opinion, you're a good man, Hickok45. Thanks for all the smiles.
Words of wisdom. Your philsophy and mine are near identical. Maybe it's a southern thing. I'm a native Atlantan, grew up in a hard working blue collar neighborhood, dad a 37 year firefighter with AFD and a plumbing business on the side. He taught me that to get respect, show respect. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Don't try to find errors in everything someone says or make negative remarks all the time. Do know that bad people are out there and to be prepared. Simple as that.
@LVen21 No offense, but it isn't a just a southern thing. I was raised about as far away from the south that you can get and I feel and behave the same way. I like to think of it as something that good parents teach their kids. Some kids don't hold onto that idea for whatever reason. It should be common sense, but it would seem that most of the world has lost that. We just need to respect each other and know that others think differently when it comes to some things.
I love listening to the Hickok45 radio show while researching firearms. I hope you don't stop doing them, I always like hearing what you have to say about interesting subjects.
Thank you for stepping up and speaking on this subject matter. Civility seems to be a rare trait these days. Much respect and keep up the great work. I often refer many new shooters to your videos.
You mentioned that you don't always try to jump in and get the first review of new weapons. I agree with your philosophy. I don't look for the newest firearms I would much rather have the weapons that are truly great over new. My favorite review (of any YouTube review) that I've watched was your review of the Colt Python. It was a firearm that I knew nothing about. Now, while not entirely practical, I think that they are very fine weapons. Maybe one day I'll own one.
Hey Hickok. Long time viewer here. In all of the videos and radio shows, you've had an excellent dialogue and discussion on a lot of issues and topics surrounding firearms. But I've noticed that you've never had any discussion on accidental/negligent discharges. I know it's kind of a narrow topic and one of those topics about guns that we shooters don't really like to discuss in depth, but have you ever had an accidental discharge of a firearm in your life?
mr. Hickok, my generation calls those who are mean trolls. they are spineless morons that should be deported from this great nation. keep up the great work sir. i salute you
Nice looking place in every season. A political comment follows: It says a lot about America today when a grandfather thinks watching Hickok45 videos is better for his grandkids than television. =Thumbs up! Millions of Americans have stopped watching television & are looking for something better.
Stock up on ammo, Hickok45 as millions of subscribers are coming your way! +I'm sure 50 years from now we'll see you zooming around the compound in a motorized wheel chair with your great grandkids.
Great commentary, thanks. Keep it positive and showing some respect for yourself and your viewers. You're a good man, Charlie Brown and I'm sure that's a good part of why "life is good" for ya!
Your phone going off in the radio show was driving me bonkers, Hickok. I thought I had misplaced mine and someone was texting me. Another awesome radio show, thank you for it.
The internet can be a tough place for sure..but please don't forget the thousands of folks you have entertained and educated over the years. I'm 46 and have been shooting since age 10. I have leaned more from you than any other one person, from the interesting facts about 1873 to most recently, the fact that ar-15's come in 9mm. I have enjoyed many hours of your video's and now my son is getting into them as well. He is 12. So, I just want to say thank you very much.
We love Destinee (I watch all her vids) but she ought to be in the kitchen making a sandwich. But she knows this. Unfortunately she doesn't know how to peanutbutterjelly.
If you want to be on the internet you need to have an extremely tough skin and it's a real shame that it is that way. You see so many people who try to get into videomaking on YouTube that just get so much hate for no reason and end up quitting which is also a real shame.
I'm a teen but my parents aren't gun owners and have never taken me. I've shot for probably a total of 15 hours with my friend and his dad. he's ex military and he has a wide array of weapons (like bringing 20 different guns each trip) so i've had experience with more kinds of weapons than some long time gun owners have had. not much experience, to be sure, but just some. anyway i've learned quite a bit about guns but it's mostly been from research on the internet and watching videos like yours
not surprised you had to make the comments approval only, for the vid you shot with FOD. there is a lot of immaturity and ignorance out there. these breed rudeness.
Also thanks for saying teenagers are sometimes more mature than others because a lot of people think all teenagers are immature and not responsible which is ridiculous
Hey I'm 14 and I have been watching your videos for a while now and if you want feedback from a young person then I have too say I really appreciate your videos, and because of you guys as soon as I can own weapons I'm going to be a part of the shooting community as you call it! :)
@samistheman16, Welcome to the shooting world; sensible, responsible young people are highly welcome! I think you'll find experienced shooters more than happy to help you out, at least for the most part. Be prepared, though, you will run into some ill-tempered old coots ( and young ones) in gun shops and shows occasionally. It's a free country, so there's no personality test required in order to obtain an FFL, Federal Firearms License. :-)
So, how far are you from Lebenon/Mt. Juliet? I'm a native Virginian but my father is from there, as is all of my extended family. He's actually been buying land near Lynchburg, VA for years and grooming it for wildlife because it reminds him of the beauty of the rolling hills of tennessee.
Being critical is a good thing, but being offensive is different. Criticism is important for improvement. But I'm talking constructive criticism, not what most people on youtube do.
@picassopainter2, Well, there ARE some professional critics lurking around. The thing some viewers don't seem to realize is that most people on YouTube make a video and really couldn't care less if somebody doesn't like part of it. Very few of us are auditioning for Hollywood or trying to reach perfection necessarily. We're just doing what we do, and if people like it, great; if they don't, that's fine, too. We usually know quite well ourselves if something could be better.
hickok your a true man with your word. i do love your channel but i cannot say yohr the obsolute best on youtube because that is an opinionative statement. Yes its sad adults act like kids, Im 17.
@hickok45 were you shooting steel core out of the ak74? And also did you kill your targets with it. I ask because i shot a 1/2 in. Steel target and the steel core went through it like a drill bit. Thanks
Heck I run a gunshop and reffer people to your vids to help the decide between a,b and c pistol a lot...I've noticed lately most of them gave heard of you and/or seen some of your vids...it makes my job easier when they really arent ready to decide what to buy yet...I make suggestions and try to list ups and downs and points to consider...but often I suggest they watch some reviews and do more research before they buy and simply help them narrow thier choices down...your channel is very useful.
@jonboynumba1 I was in a Gunshop few weeks ago, a New Guy wanted his first Gun. Wanted to know more about it. The Gun Shop guy had a laptop there. Went to a Hickok45 Video for the guy to watch.
I agree, Hickok. Racism/sexism and other such ignorant comments are sad to see, but such is the nature of this medium. All we can do is block them and move along.
The message of this video is as important as it is educational. Outstanding!!
This is nothing new, as a truck driver I long ago gave up my cb, I just got tired of the profanity, racial hatred, obscene jokes, political sparring that filled the airways to the point of making the radio useless, all because of a few made bold by the anonymity afforded by the radio. When I see this behavior on utoob I make apoint of letting them know thier behavior is unacceptable and that they need to move along. I believe we have something pretty cool here and we need to police ourselves.
Don't worry about all the fools on youtube. Soon enough the zombie apocalypse will begin. All those fools will get turned first. And too bad for them if they then stumbled onto the compound.
I just picked up a Ruger SR22!!! My stepson was at the gunshop picking up an LC9 and the owner showed me the SR22... I have small hands and that SR22 fit my hand so well I walked out with it!!! I can't wait to see you shoot one!!!
Your demos are costing my family a small fortune!!! So far we have 4 LC9s since my kids watched your video on it...... We think ours must be defective, none of us have been able to hit anything 100 yards away with it like you do!! LOL!!!
Hickok, Thanks for the radio shows . I agree with previous posts, nothing like waking up in the morning and a cup of fresh coffee starting your day with a common sense Tennessean. Seeing the posts from Europe, USA, Australia, Japan. Learning from shooters everywhere !
You talked a little bit about your profession keeping you from SHOT show, and I was just wondering, do a couple of your new students each fall know you as "Hickok45"?
Great radio show! I know you have done reviews on AK-47's, AK-74, VZ-58 and the Ar platform. How about a SIG 556 or SIG 55X in the future? Thanks Hickok45 love the videos and the radio shows!
I would like to see more of the YouTubers making videos together. Not for the competition, but for the humor. I think it makes for funny stuff when they do get together just to have fun....:-)
While it may seem logical to contact the trolls in youtube land to tell them they're behaving badly, I'm doubtful someone with flawed character would take the constructive criticism kindly.
+1 on feeling like a "minority" as a shooter. I grew up in the San Francisco area and the folks there aren't so "open minded" when it comes to guns. You take some heat as a gun owner in CA and you take heat from other Americans for being from CA. People focus on race and gender but there are different kinds prejudice. I don't hate any Americans, we're all on the same team.
@10rupeejezail The liberal folks in America are not open minded when you disagree with them. There idea of freedom of speech applies only if you believe what they do.
good video hickok i honestly havent watched any of your other radio shows but i really like it should have gave it a chance earlier but now i know i am not going to miss one. good video
I do not like any censorship . I think the people in the end show themselves for who they are and that should suffice as a way to increase quality. However, I think people who allow more freedom on their comments including insults, the better. BUT, at a certain stage, the channel holder has a right, I think, to determine the style of their channel.
You know why people leave negative comments? It's because they generally have low self esteem. They are incapable of feeling better about themselves unless another individual or group is torn down. Sad, but true, don't take it personal, unless you give them the power of you taking it personal.
I'd really appreciate if you'd write down the starting-times of the invidual topics in the descriptions again like you did on older Radio shows. Although your topics are interesting most of the times, sometimes I want to skip a part i can't relate to (like local news). Greetings :) This time I listened to the whole thing once again :D Looking forward to the next videos.
It hass ALL the movies that had guns in them, one of my favorite guns is the Hk USP 45 because Bobby Deniro carries it in HEAT as well as Tom Cruise in Collateral, John Travolta loves his Sigs, while Steven Seagal always carries a 1911. My favorite gun of all time is the gold Springfield 1911 Nic Cage used in Face off
I would say that at least 70% of the rascist and sexist comments on youtube and similar sites are meant to be a form of sick humor. It's very likley that the majority of the people either leave the comments as a joke, or to get a rise out of someone. This act, known as "trolling" has become increasingly wide-spread on the internet while at the same time, becoming harder to identify.

Nice looking place in every season. A political comment follows: It says a lot about America today when a grandfather thinks watching Hickok45 videos is better for his grandkids than television. =Thumbs up! Millions of Americans have stopped watching television & are looking for something better.
Stock up on ammo, Hickok45 as millions of subscribers are coming your way! +I'm sure 50 years from now we'll see you zooming around the compound in a motorized wheel chair with your great grandkids.

Hey I'm 14 and I have been watching your videos for a while now and if you want feedback from a young person then I have too say I really appreciate your videos, and because of you guys as soon as I can own weapons I'm going to be a part of the shooting community as you call it! :)
samistheman16 1 month ago
@samistheman16, Welcome to the shooting world; sensible, responsible young people are highly welcome! I think you'll find experienced shooters more than happy to help you out, at least for the most part. Be prepared, though, you will run into some ill-tempered old coots ( and young ones) in gun shops and shows occasionally. It's a free country, so there's no personality test required in order to obtain an FFL, Federal Firearms License. :-)
hickok45 1 month ago
@samistheman16 The good thing is that because you are responsible, you already are a part of the shooting community. Enjoy the sport any way you can.

Being critical is a good thing, but being offensive is different. Criticism is important for improvement. But I'm talking constructive criticism, not what most people on youtube do.
picassopainter2 1 month ago
@picassopainter2, Well, there ARE some professional critics lurking around. The thing some viewers don't seem to realize is that most people on YouTube make a video and really couldn't care less if somebody doesn't like part of it. Very few of us are auditioning for Hollywood or trying to reach perfection necessarily. We're just doing what we do, and if people like it, great; if they don't, that's fine, too. We usually know quite well ourselves if something could be better.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

@shoxroxice YOU are both right in a many ways.
I do not like any censorship . I think the people in the end show themselves for who they are and that should suffice as a way to increase quality. However, I think people who allow more freedom on their comments including insults, the better. BUT, at a certain stage, the channel holder has a right, I think, to determine the style of their channel.
recruitmenttips 1 month ago
You know why people leave negative comments? It's because they generally have low self esteem. They are incapable of feeling better about themselves unless another individual or group is torn down. Sad, but true, don't take it personal, unless you give them the power of you taking it personal.
spiritof78 1 month ago
I'd really appreciate if you'd write down the starting-times of the invidual topics in the descriptions again like you did on older Radio shows.
