  • clopin here is amazing... seriously wished he had more songs..

  • Magnificent!! Esmeralda took the poet :)

  • I don't get it.. she has to marry him to save him but she cannot sleep with him? could someone explain it to me please?

  • @2emma1 actually in the book they just marry, Clopin doesn't care if they sleep together or not but Esmeralda doesen't want to sleep with him because she's in love with Phoebus.. i don't konw why they changed this thing, maybe to enphasize Clopin protectiveness (which is not in the book).. anyway in the italian version of this song Esmeralda hersef says to Gringoire: "Yes, I'll marry you but I'll never give you love!" and I think it makes more sense that way.

  • @Btty90 Ok thank you :) i haven't read the book yet.

  • Clopin should've married Gringoire. I mean. I'm just sayin'.

  • i luv how clopin starts the song! i luv this play ive listened and watched the play atleast 25 times since i heard about it 2 days ago

  • j'adore le gars principale qui chante! :)

  • The title "La Cour des miracles"

  • I get goosebumps every time I listen to this song.

  • I would jump over Gringoire if I had a chance...boo

  • i remember having our french teacher in high school making us watch this, i thought it would suck, i was wrong

  • clopin is my favorite character no doubt hands down

  • The translation of "cour des miracles" is not very good....the idea is that all the "beggars" are suddenly healed at night when they abandon their self-imposed bandages and crutches, assumed to elicit more donations from the public, as Hugo explains it. So the translation really should be the ironic "Court of Miracles" that the lyrics use more accurately.

  • @diana72563 hahaha! tu as dit la vérité mon amie.Tu l'as dit.

  • Love this song! This is clopin at his best

  • (toward the end) Nice! That's quite a voice range!

  • I have seen the Circ du Soleil and I must say, this is so much better than that! :D

  • Uh, "prostitutes dance with thieves", not "hoods."

  • Btdubs, this is La Cour de Miracles

  • @xXDarkness101Xx Its from the song "The Court of Miracles" from Disneys 1996 animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame aka the best aninated Disney film ever, and my favorite XD I love all the characters in that movie. Esme, Frollo, and Clopin would be my tops. Esme= Best Disney Heroine ever created, Frollo= Best Disney Villain ever created(just listen to Hellfire, SO GOOD!), and Clopins just awesome

  • @libertybombshell "Esme" wasn't created by Disney. "Notre Dame de Paris" is a book of the french autor and poet Victor Hugo

  • @Reaper591000 Disney created their own versions of the characters, as every movie does. Disney's versions of the characters just happen to be my favorites. And I'm well aware of that, thank you.

  • clopin is just to awesome for his own good......infact, he's to awesome for the internet. i guess that means we broke the internet now!

  • YAY FOR CLOPIN!

  • welcome to the court of miracles, where it's a miracle if you get out of here alive!

props to anyone who knows where that line is from. you all should know it. unless you dont like watching disney classics*hint hint* another hint, he's my fave disney character of all time.

  • @xXDarkness101Xx i meant the guy who sings the song in the movie is meh fave character.

  • @xXDarkness101Xx Would it happen to be the Disney version of what we are currently watching if we clicked on this video?

We like to get the trial over with quickly because it's the sentence that's really the fun. Any last words?....That's what they all say.

  • This is A La Cour de Miracles.

  • Passion. :D

  • I know it's too late but I'd do anything to watch it live in France..

  • Man, I love this story, J'aurais tellement aimer les voir en spectacle! : )

  • I love his voice. It's so impressive...

  • I love how spastic and violent all the dancing is in this.

    .................

  • The ensemble in this show is just FANTASTIC!

  • Fourteen people are poets of France who are fit to hang.

  • Les paroles, s'il vous plaît!

  • Right before Clopin talks to Esmeralda, we see Gringoire offering his hand, then dropping it, as he's swinging. I know exactly what's going though his mind:

"Dammit! Where are those fangirls when I NEED them?!"

  • Silly girls, why didn't they jump at the chance to marry Gringoire? They must be blind, the poor things.

  • These guys who jump up and down the wall are amazing, they are (as you must know) the Yamakasi. This is a perfect version, the singers are amazing and the dancers/acrobats are to die for.

  • Le sang et le vin ont la même couleur...love this sentence^^ don't know why...

  • i love this 1

  • I love the little dance Esme and Pierre do in tha background after they're "married".

  • how come all the lame people can walk?????? 0.O IT really IS the "Court of MIRACLES"

  • @RacbecSkywalker They only pretend to be lame so that they can get money from people, I guess.

  • @akaneh1989

    ooooooooooooooooooooh

    CHEATERZ! XD

  • clopin is AWSOME !!!

  • That's not the good title, it's the den of thieves

  • Comment removed

  • this is the best part of all the notre dame de paris :) but french are deporting all the gipsies now ;/ their government should watch this :>

  • I can imagine this would be the dancers' favorite song... and I wish I could see Gringoire and Esmerelda's dance at the end, there's a few times when you look in the background and they're dancing together.

  • Comment removed

  • the swinging thing seems fun XD

I love the music but you would really have to already know the story line in order to understand this song

  • but damn is he still one sexy poet man about to diee

  • This song is "la cour des miracles"

  • Hey, guy, I think you should change the name, this song is "À la cour des Miracles", and the previous one is "Tentative d'enlèvement".

  • Gotta love the high note at the end and I love the shirt thing at 1:35. He's a great singer and I love that he looks like he's just chilling throughout the entire song until the end when he's swinging around like a monkey!

  • it looks like at 2:14 it would go down like this:

    (Gringoire)"Hey Clopin! How's it going?"

(Clopin)"Shut up Gringoire! You're about to get hung!"

poor Gringoire.. I would take him to be my husband, ; )

  • @TheKristan7 so would i <3

  • @TheKristan7 Exactly my thoughts XD

  • umm...is it just me or is Clopin wearing sneakers...haha ^__^

  • No! Don't hang Gringoire!!

  • OMFG he is like Grave Robber. O_O The music is so damn catchy.

  • @FuzzyxPanda THANK YOU! I didn't think anyone would notice that seeing as this is so much different than Repo...

  • @EnchantedMagickLove IT'S SO EERIE! I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed!

  • clopin is a badass! love him. yet, he can be so emotional and passionate

  • "La Cour des miracles"

  • I just love the high pitch he does at the end.

  • les danseurs sont incroyables

  • super, excellent, magnifique.

  • Remindes me at autumn 2003, Verona..... nice hollidays ......

  • j'adore cette chanson. its one of my favorites!

  • La cour des miracles : "The Court of Miracles designated under the Old Regime spaces lawless compounds Paris districts and appointed as the infirmities of beggars who had their place of ordinary residence there disappeared after dark, as if by miracle."

  • i would have loved to see this live- even if i would only be able to understand like 5 words in the show. It would have been worth it.

  • OMG realy greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt what an amazing performance with a great use of music and the choreography is really awsomne.. i find myself commenting on every video of this show as it is really amazing

  • Gotta love that laugh. XD

  • @Nilie

    Sexiest laugh ever <3

  • he is attached to a safety cable which is attached to the aircraft cable that the I-Beam is coming in on. basically the rope that he is holding is attached to a harness that he has on and that is how he goes upside down

  • 4:38

  • how he's upside down?

  • I love the whole soundtrack - would love to see this.

  • just fyi, this is actually track 14: la cour de mircales

  • 'den of thieves' seems like a wrong translation.

  • Right, Lynxie ! The Court of Miracles (La Cour des Miracles) in Paris was notorious as being a safe refuge for its population of cutpurses and cutthroats. They could vanish like shadows in these narrow streets. Today, one can see some of the street names commemorating Napoleon's Egyptian campaigns and the fervent Egyptomania that ensued - rue d'Aboukir, d'Alexandrie, du Caire, du Nil a.s.o. which give an oriental atmosphere.

  • Thus, one can admire the astonishing imitation Egyptian sculptures on the picturesque Place du Caire adjoining the old Cour des Miracles. It is this place of the 2nd "arrondissement" that inspired V. Hugo in his " Notre-Dame de Paris " upon which it is based this French - Canadian musical. I like the music and choreography ! :-)

  • In spaninsh , the official translation was La Corte de los Milagros (The Court of Miracles) , as it should be

  • Clopin is wearing runners.

I mean, it's understandable, but still... haha.

  • @BirdlandJazz

yea you can clearly see the shoes he wearing at 4:43

  • Yeah def should be Court of Miracles.

  • actually i dont like the way luk merville sings either but his voice really fits with the character (clopin)

  • Title of this song is "La Cour des Miracles" ;-)

  • Heart of miracles? I think...my french sux...

  • @Valkeryie666

nice guess :P but Cour means court, Coeur means heart (I aint french, but this I know)

  • Oh, thanks, wow, one letter makes a huge difference

  • cour des miracles

  • this is called la cour des miracles

  • 222222 vues!!!!

  • I can listen to this over and over again. Can never be tired of this!

  • the translaled lirycs is somehow mixed up as well .court of miracles not den of thieves....lol good try anyway and thanks.

  • It's not the posters fault, the english subtitles are actually the real sutitles from the DVD

  • I imagine that was done so that people who weren't completely familiar with the storyline could understand more readily. "The den of thieves" gives an impression far different from "the court of miracles", and makes Clopin's identity much clearer.

  • Exactly.

  • True, but IMHO, They shouldn't be doing that in the first place. The story may be better known in francophone countries, but you don't change the dialogue for foreigners just because they havn't heard the story before. It could also imply that English speakers are more dense than French speakers. (Wether they think we are or not doesn't matter.)

  • no. its den of thieves. i watched the musical before

  • Well the "Court of Miracles" was in the book really made up of criminals, thieves, low-lifes, gypsies, etc. So techincally, the phrase "Den of Thieves" fits. :)

  • Yeah but in the book it's a symbol too...I mean "the blind can see" or "the deaf can hear" or "The man who have no legs can walk" so it's a really "court of miracles". That's why i think den of thieves is not the best translation....Scuse my bad english

  • the names are just mixed up, probably even not intentionally

  • thanks for the upload !! but really den of thieves.. where in the heck did you get that from ??? none of them are saying anything about thieves ... but thanks anyways :) i lvoe this musical

  • yeah and it's a very good song. Love the modern dance choreography.

  • This is called "La cour des miracles" even on the CD!

  • When I saw this show in London the guy up there had forgotten to put on his security-belt and fell down and hurt his back poor thing. There was a 20 min interval and his understudy continued. Felt so bad for him though.

  • Ouch! Poor guy, hope he's alright.

  • BRAVISSIMI

  • Clopin; je l'aime!

  • POURQUOI!?

  • And btw, most of the sub titles are wrong.

It's the Court of miracles.! Who ever translated obviously was not bilingual.

(sorry for errors, Im french!! :P)

  • Oh my godd. I love the way she says:

    "Je Le Prend"

    It;s like...

  • great music!!! I like that~

  • suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper =)

  • Does anyone else (who speaks French I guess) get upset with the English translation of La Cour des Miracles into The Den of Thieves instead of the correct Court of Miracles? It just changes the entire idea of the song and really frustrates me.

  • I don't speak French at all, but you'd have to be an idiot not to hear the mistranslation. It's hard to watch this, be reading subtitles, and THEN rewrite the subtitle in your head!

Mistranslations are always a pain. Grrr, argh!

  • French is my second language so I am not great at it, but it really ticked me off when I saw that too! "La Cour des miracles" is not the den of thieves.. >.>

  • lol ya i do .. and its not only in this song but.. whatever i guess.. most english movies are the same when translated in french so.......

what does he mean, he's yours as spouse but not as a lover?

  • See, Esmerelda is like Clopin(the one with dreadlocks) sister/ daughter. He's really protective of her. She marries him to save his life but he says that If Gringoire (the narrator/ poet) touches her he'll kill him.

  • awh .. k , thanks :)

  • Actually he sa

  • You should edit the name for the song.Anw, many thanks for posting:)

  • The correct name of this song is "La Cour des miracles"

  • The voice of this guy is incredible....and the coreography...the best

  • I think this is the best song in the first act
