  • Music: Yuck!

  • @FredDude27 GTFO !!

  • ww1 Hitler join the war. he was only a fighter not a gen or co. only a fighter.

ww1 was called flying war because there have many flying war there.

but in ww2 this was one of war's a monster ness was ever see

nazi's was one of big monster's

so ww1 was cool but ww2 was monster

  • EPIC BATTLE LOL DESTROY ALL THE RED BARREN POEPLE lol thats was a great ending

  • @AustralianFalcon The WW1 zeppelins and their descendants the Hindenberg and the Graf Zeppelin were built of aluminum girders with fabric covering and gas cells inside. Their average size was 600-700 feet with the Hindenberg being the largest at 820 feet in overall length. I like your choice of music as I am a Nightwish fan.

  • I was playing a plain game some time ago, and I just couldn't stop singing this, and the funny thing was, I didn't know what I w as singing.

But in any case, this is still a cool movie.

  • Gutes Video aber der Film ist purer Bockmist.

    Typisch Amerika.

  • @KeyswortMaster hahahahaha, ich stimme

  • i was waiting for aguy to pull out a revolver annd shoot a guy the whole movie

  • this is the best WWI movie i have ever seen!

  • @H8UsClan Lost Battalion try watching that.

  • 3:49

    OH SNAP!

  • Wow, looking back at when I felt like I wanted to be a fighter pilot in WW 1... I was fucking crazy!

Respect to the fighting men of WW 1 and 2

  • Stupid Movie

  • @zurich163 don't watch the video then... -_-

  • i hate this

    Ryan

  • i hate this

    ryan

  • wonder if those blimps actually existed

  • @nemisiesaidSTARS

Not the exact same sorts of blimps, no. The authentic blimps of the period weren't fashioned from fabric and steel like the full-size props in the movie; back during the war, the blimps were sewn-together stretches of whale-skin leather, supported on the interior by strong, sturdy redwood trunks, harvested from south Germany's Black Forest. Additionally, the real things were substantially larger; over four times the size. Due to monetary constraints, the movie built smaller.

  • Horrible music

  • just awesome..... :D

  • if you want realistic dogfights, go watch the series, dogfights from the friggin history channel, and stop bashing good movies :L

  • SIEG U.S.A!

  • good combination in theory but your timing isnt very good, all the heavy licks and even the solo come in during boring parts like mission briefings and at the funeral instead of intense dog fighting

  • Looks like Mr. Baron didn't quite think things through when he shot down that one plane above the Zeppelin.

  • O.O

  • Epic. Just F'N epic.

  • I love this movie. I have the dvd and still watch it when tv stinks.

  • puto baron rojo

  • Not bad, nice work, Nitewish ROKS!!!

  • Favorite Song Of All Time With My Favorite Movie Ever...Priceless:)

  • genial joder increible

  • Also, if it weren't for WWI, Germany wouldn't have gone into depression, and that could have stopped Hitler from getting power and ruining Germany and much of Europe.

  • This is exactly what I'm trying to get through to people.

Just because it's more recent, why should WWII be so much more important to us than WWI?

The other thing I'm trying to explain is that if you really look at it, the Germans and Austrian-Hungarians would the good guys.

Arch Duke Ferdinand, leader of Austria, was assassinated by a Serbian backed shooter, who also murdered his family. The following war between Austria and Serbia caused the rest of WWI.

  • amazing song same with movie

  • Red Baron film in 2009 or 2008? anyway this new red baron film is crap! there not showed last dogfight and death of red baron.

  • The Red Baron was not killed in a dogfight... A Lee Enfield done the job .... the best AA in those days

  • 1;11 Man 1. Holy crap did u c that Man 2 Ughh

  • This song works great with everything epic

  • its not him this video all germans have red plans so I call it propaganda see the real movie: the red baron is good

  • AWSOME!!!

    LOL! Just shoots him =P

  • simply amazing

  • nice one

  • i like this

  • who cares....this song kicks ass....i seen the movie dozens of times.

  • aber typisch amerikanisch held en tum ala holywood der rote baron ist besser der film als fly boys

  • His name is Manfred von Richthofen or The Red Baron

he painted his plane red himself

  • yes he was the best

  • the reason people dont like the movie is because all of the german tri planes where painted red... in real life only one was painted red specifically for some guy (forgot his name) but either way.... the movie was awesome... loved it! not to mention this video.. which rocked!!! i am a huge fan of nightwish.. when i mention them (here in america) most people are like.. "who are they?" they are wicked awesome. love their new album and singer

  • i want to see the movie.

    NOW!

  • wow, I can't believe so many people didn't enjoy the movie. I liked it, anyway.

  • Great war movie! Scenes of batlles in the air are very like the real battles of that time. James Franco`s sincere and good play is great and very lifelike . I watched that film on TV also and I would say that I´ve not seen so good war film for a long time.

  • like the look on his face when pulling out tha gun : P

  • on one of those planes was that a lewis gun?

  • i love your video 5/5 i spent around 30 minutes loking for it

  • Спасибо!

  • This isn't a perfect WWI movie. It's still a pretty good popcorn movie. Worth the watch.

  • @InterWebsTuberNetter it's not just inaccurate, it's unreal and filled with old holywood crap

  • @fidan2fast Oorah.

  • does anyone else just love Abdul Salis who plays Eugene? i love him. I am from Scotland and i wtch him in the BBC1 show Casualty all the time.

  • i love this movie the only way i herd bout it was thru my 6th grade teacher back then

  • there were a few red ones like MvR brother luther had one that was red and it was also a way to scare the enemy i mean ive u no a plane thats red and has like 70 victories id be a little scared fightin him

  • But i think "Der Rote Baron" is a better move (The new one) cuz in flyboys ALL the germans have red triplanes, i know its a move but at least put a little realism in it. Cuz in reality there was only one german with a red triplane, each planes had a different design so one can identify who there wingman is.

  • That is true but I think the black plain pilot was the red baron in the movie, you are right.

  • Whenever I see this movie I've always asked myself: where does that guy at 2:41 thinks he's running to?

  • he made a choice, burn alive, or die from free falling

  • Then wouldn't the logical conclusion be to run INTO the explosion, not away from it.

  • i would mutch rather die from free fall that burn alive, either way it equals death, but he had to chose which way to die, they didnt issue parachutes then because the commanders thought the crew could just bug out if they got scared.

  • Not me, I would rather burn to ash in 5 seconds rather than splattering onto the ground in a red mess after falling for a couple minutes but that's just me.

  • but the bad thing is you would probably keep buring all the way to the ground, and they issued pilots pistols for a good reason.

  • the black falcon has a big head

  • Flyboys is by far one of the, if not the, most underrated movies of all time. It was magnificent! I dunno why it did poorly at the box office.

  • I totally agree with you, the movie was fantastic and I didn't even hear about it... it was by chance that I found it in my videoclub and decided to watch it, just in case it would be good. I was not disappointed :)

  • My S.S. teacher showed part of the movie to us at the end of our WWI unit. Because of its length we only got up to the part where Beagle loses an arm before he told us if we wanted to finish it we had to rent it. I used my Netflix connections to its advantage and my family enjoyed the movie.

  • It did poorly at the box office, because mature people (you know: that funny other part of the population) hate historical movies that:

    1) are historical inaccurate as hell

    2) are technical inaccurate as hell

    3) have stored ALL worn out movie chlichees of movie history in it

    4) are super-patriotic and unballanced and full of wrong kindergarten clichees about the enemy

    5) are cramped full of wooden acted simpleton hero dialogues for little children

    I´ll stop here.

    ...but I could go on.

  • Hmmm... I could do with the last 3 but the first 2 I just have to call BS upon. There's a movie called Glory. Everyone loved it. It did magnificently at the box office. It had historical inaccuracies.

That being said 300 did awesome at the box office and Flyboys was more accurate compared to it.

  • Maybe the acting in this other movie was better and the Story and the subplots?

    I don´t know.

  • I found the acting fine.

  • I found the acting in Flyboys as terrible as the clichee overkill.

  • i'll agree with all of that, but i will just add one thing in the movies defense. whoever choreographed the dogfights did a great job.

  • If one likes dogfights that are happening in a kind of parallele universe, where the laws of physics and the technical limits of WWI planes have no meaning.....

  • So what, i know it's not realistic. i know it's not techinically possible. i know it's not accurate. I know it's not a documentary. I know the rest of the movie sucks.

but the dogfights look friggin cool. forget that the planes couldn't really do that for a second, and just admire the dogfight.

  • This movie is that annoyingly bad. From the acting over the storyline to historical and technical things.

I can´t enjoy unrealistic flight scenes in this context.

  • I see your point of view, but sadly can't agree. let's hope the next world war one movie gets it right huh?

  • I hope so, too.

There are allready more mature and better WWI aviation movies excisting.

  • really? what are some names, im tryin ti find lost batallion on here and i cant find the movie, and i like that movie, and im tryin to finda good trench fighting world war one video

  • WWI Aviation movies:

    The Blue Max

    Aces High

    WWI trench movies:

All quiet on the Western Front

    Paths of Glory

    Westfront 1918

There are more, but those are the ones that are coming right in the first second to my mind.

  • red baron was good to

theres some clips of it on my channel

anyways ill have to check out blue max and aces high, if anyone wants to see All quiet on the Western Front i believe someone posted it on youtube somewhere ;)

  • no pega ni con cola ajjajaja

  • crap movie o.O

    but i love this track

  • You know what Person0Guy0Man? You can go jump off a cliff. This video is awesome.

  • The movie had nothing but eye candy, and even that had mistakes, like all red triplanes and the engine. This video uses a great song and works very well.

  • well, they didnt build custom planes for every individual soldier but they could paint things they wanted on it. so yea they all were the same. the songs retarded.

  • I guess you have no sense of the feeling of epicness, apocalypse and war as the rest of the human race, then.

  • Not all Fokker DR.1 Triplans are red , when they build they all are green , when the plane go to pilots hands , they will change the color , like MvR's plane , it was a green plane , but he paint it to red .

Not so much pilot paint the plane to black , but some ace paint it to black .

PS: Even Voss use the green skin . So those plane must change the skin to green .

  • He must shot down the ace down when he take off .

  • Woah! I wish i was pilot in first world war :D Dogfight in 1916-1945 where the coolest dogfights!

  • then you'll love ace of aces on instantaction (google it)

  • trust me, you wouldnt want to go to war. its not liek call of duty or w/e, war is very cruel and makes everyone on the battlefield cry at least once.

  • my sister is a nurse in the mental unit, most of them are from the military. its scary stuff

good thing imma joinin the navy

  • Don't hit your head climbing those stairs.....claustrophobia man.

  • no, i wont go all storm trooper on low doorways

  • @chicagocubsforever More than once for those who survive the first time. No game can truly portray war especially a war that happened nearly a hundred years ago and for which the surviving veterans can probably be counted on one hand.

  • that was awesome when he crashed into the blimp and exploded!

  • That was a Zeppelin.

  • oh sorry.

  • Oooh.. I just notice how the lyrics fit at 0:40!

  • The black cross part? Yea!

  • Oh, I love the ending! xD

  • Me too!

  • Oooh....

    so awesome!

Can I post a tribute I'm uploading as a response to this vidder?

Oh, 5/5, fave, and you got a subber! xD

  • Wow... great job!!!!!!!!!

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • Perhaps the more you know about a topic, the harder it is to be impressed by a movie about it. Flyboys was HORRIBLE. It was the same old Hollywood slop with a WW1 aviation wrapper. The Blue Max, despite also not being extremely historical, was a very good movie, on the other hand. At least they were real planes flying in the scenes, not CGI like so much of Flyboys. Some day there will be a movie that does the topic justice.

  • You know what, you're actually right, mate. And you've admittedly kind of called by 'bluff', as it were. I don't know nearly as much about WWI as I ought to, so I can just overlook the discrepancies in the film simply because, well, I don't know them.

If there's a movie that finally DOES portray things properly, give a heads up, hey? Least I'd know I'd be watching something remotely accurate. ^_^

(Don't worry though, I know this much; the poor, 'outnumbered' American pilots image is rubbish.)

  • Scenes from that recent Red Baron movie look better with regards to equipment, but it is also not accurate about the man.

If you don't mind reading about it, I suggest finding a copy of "Flying Fury: Five Years in the Royal Flying Corps" by James McCudden, a 57 kill ace. He saw much of the progression of the war in the air first hand and was surprisingly accurate about his claims and combat memories (when compared to German records). His career would make a supreme movie or series. Regards.

  • To be fair, the Red Baron is virtually surrounded by folklore and legend; can you blame them for not getting him perfectly right? ^_^

And reading will do just fine! I believe I've even heard the title before in passing, but I'll try to track it down in earnest now. It sounds promising, if it's a first-hand account of information like that.

Thank you for the suggestion, mate. Cheers.

  • Indeed it is first-hand. He wrote it in the Spring of 1918 while an instructor in England and finished it 3 days before heading back to France to take command of 60 Squadron. I own over 20 WW1 aviation autobiographies from many nationalities, but his is probably the best.

He started as a mechanic in 1914, then a gunner in 1915-16 and F.E.2 pilot in 1916. Then flew as a fighter 1916-1918 flying DH2, Pups, and SE5's. He led the flight that shot down the famed Werner Voss. He also won the VC.

  • Written -during- the war? Well, at least there's no question about whether or not it was all still sharp in his memory, is there?

He sounds like a very dynamic figure, that one. The only thing I'm concerned with is whether or not there might be a tint of anti-Central Powers bias in his writing. Of course, that can be an interesting piece of historical information all in itself, if one knows how to separate it from the rest.

Then again, he sounds like a fairly level-headed man, to be honest.

  • It is funny you mention that, because he was actually criticized for being too respectful of the Germans. He says (can't remember the exact words) that the more he fights the Germans, the more he admires them. His summary of how Voss fought was particularly bursting with admiration and sorrow that he was not brought down alive.

Also very interesting is McCudden's predictions of how airpower will be in the future at the end of the book...it was quite accurate. He was an extraordinary man.

  • It's a funny thing, how that can happen. The more one is pitted against an enemy, the more one admires their tactics and determination. I can only imagine how well Voss and McCudden would have gotten along if they'd been able to sit and talk. The fact that he was so glowing about his accounts for the Germans sets me at ease for that; now I just have to watch out he doesn't praise them too much, hey? ^_^

To say he sounds extraordinary is almost an understatement; I will certainly look into him.

  • @AustralianFalcon Sometimes one's enemies deserve more respect than one's allies.

  • @norb1937 Absolutely. As soon as you lose respect for your enemies, things can become very ugly; it's how soldiers start to see their foes as less than human, which is nothing but a bad thing. That said, I spoke more in a historical context; having a bias - either positive or negative - is detrimental to actual historical accuracy when it comes to people who wrote about the topic at the time.

Of course, there's not a person on earth who is entirely unbiased, so it's all relative, to be fair.

  • Wooooooooow! this is awesome!!!

  • Oh, and the video is amazing as well. :)

  • I really enjoyed this movie. We watched it these past few days in history, and I think it's amazing. It may be historically inacurate at some points, but as a movie, it is definetly a favorite of mine now.

  • Lol definatley in accurate. There was only ONE red baron :P

  • What are you talking about. I know there was only one Red Baron. There was only one Red Baron in the movie.

  • The red Baron wasn't even in the movie. And they butchered the German airplane accuracy. All the German planes were Red in the movie except the Black Falcon character's plane. In reality it was reverse.

  • BAKA!!! You know nothing of world war one. It is a know fact that all German Fighter Pilots flew red Fokker DR.1 Triplans. You may be right about the Red Baron not being in the movie, BUT, the Red Baron flew a black plane. He was called the Red Baron after the bird. The Red Baron is a very teritorial speciese of bird that kills any other bird that invades its teritory. So, I say it was the Red Baron, ALL THOUGH, I did hear them say something about A black falcon in the movie.

  • hate to burst ya bubble but your wrong ; )

  • I hate to burst your bubble but just because you said I was wrong doesn't mean I'm wrong. You offered no supporting evidence in your comment that proved I was wrong and even if you hade evidence, you hesitated to use it meaning you are unsure of the credibility of your evidence. It is a well known fact in the historical society that the Germans in WW1 flew red Fokker DR.1 Triplanes. I don't know much about the Red Baron except that he was named for the dird. P.S. only queres use emoticons. lol

  • incorrect it was left to individual pilots to decided upon there own colours black was a common choice as opposed to your view of, "It is a known fact that all German Fighter Pilots flew red Fokker DR.1 Triplans".

it is a known fact that all German fighter pilots had a wide variety of paint schemes, such as blue, greens and checkered patterns and this was applied to all types of german aircraft

    P.S.

  • oh forgot

P.S. queres make mistakes but i forgive you : )

  • I also liked this movie, but the Red Baron is more boring, but much more realistic

Flyboys has to many "every german fighter was a red Fokker Dr1 triplane"

But their should be more Dogfights Movies instead of shit like Madagascar 2, Ice Age and so on

  • TOTALLY!!! Right on 'bout the Fokker Dr1 triplane thingg!! Dogfight movies are WAY better than the Madagascar shit!!!

  • This movie ignored the developement of war movie making and war-story writing of the last 50 years.

This movie was an offence to all pilots of WWI, to logic, to reality and to the grown up movie audience.

    It was an experiment about:

how many worn out warmovie clichees, clichees in general, massive historical and technical inaccuracies, anoying hero-bugle-background scores, cringeworthy hero dialogues, unbelivable love stories on a pre-teenage-level

one is able to cramp into one single movie.

  • Then go watch something else. If you think you can make it better, by all means, become a movie writer. Complaining does no good AFTER the movie is finished.

  • A discussion about this movie is forbidden?

    A movie beyond every criticism?

    How is that, ZakeirSnake?

  • Ugh, sorry, I was in a bad mood. It's just been one of those days, ya know? =_= And thank you for stating my name btw, you're the first lol?

I really just want to know why you think the movie is so bad? Like specifics. I thought it was pretty good, but that's just me.

This time I'll actually listen to both sides before I make a criticism, hehe...

  • That sounds good, ZakeirSnake.

Flyboys was massive historically and technically inaccurate. It was for me like watching a weird phantasy parallele-universe.

But worse than the historical and technical errors was the invented storyline and the massive chlichee-overkill.

You can bring in some clichees in war movies. SOME!

But you can´t take the WORST clichees of war-movie history and cramp them ALL into one single movie.

Flyboys did that....and it was so very annoying to watch the result.

  • Ah indeed, I see where you're going. It does make me wonder about this movie now o_O

And do let me sincerely apologize once more. Emotions interfere with my reasoning and logic, as you can plainly see rofl It may sound cheezy, but it's true for me to say the least.

  • Flyboys was on the same low level like the terrible movie U-571.

It´s as if the makers of Flyboys and U-571 are thinking about the audience: "Well, they are stupid anyway. And the rest are children fresh from the Kindergarten".

I don´t like the idea that some people are making money with the concept:

"Let´s make wild unrealistic action and weird history falsification storylines for silly people and children".

Not to mention the disrespect for the real soldiers and their stories.

  • Kind of like Gladiator, eh?

Yeah, that probably derives from the idea that they don't want to make it just another history movie, but then they go too far and it just ruins the movie and its historical references all together.

  • True words, ZakeirSnake!

  • Awesome, excellent, perfect work. I really like it!

  • this movie is awesome i advice, this music rocks !

  • If you speak of the Red Baron, it waas an Aussie that killed him, and the Baron isn't even in this movie.

  • There's a heck of a lot of red DR1's for a movie with no Red Baron.

  • the red baron was shot by a gun crew while dogfightinng, hes not in this movie

  • Also, if they really did research on the Lafyette Escadril, the real stories of most of those pilots was perfect movie material.

  • @hubomba

You are talking nonsense and I can prove it with around a dozen books!

  • You needed only 5 kill to be ace in WW1, that its a real ACE ,remember that was the first Aircraft in the wolrds in 1914-1918 , that was news, and they had no radio, communication was with Hand symbol. The first allied aircraft needed to stop Engine for fire, but germans do better MG who can shoot with out stop engine!

  • All germans pilot had skill in combat , lot of experience during Russian fronts, during French fight, American pilot or french pilot sucked dick comparate supreme air dog fight against Germans.

  • Watchable film but Aces High was loads better. Too many Red Baron clones in this film.

  • @happymeal29

Ok, they exaggerated history. When Jasta 11 (Richthofen´s Unit) received their first Fokker Dr1´s almost all were painted less or more in red with individual differences. Richthofens first Dr1 for example was painted 50%-50% in green and red, he had all in all 4 different paint schemes.

Some time later, most aeroplanes of Jagdgeschwader (JG)1 (Jasta 4, 6, 10 and 11) had some of their parts painted in red as a help for identification and coherence.
