  • cuanto te costo tu tarola de luois viutton ?

  • Your drumming is awesome man. I can see what you're about.

  • i hate moon jel but i think that if i was you i would give in and put some on that snare!!!!

  • @jamesdancer73 I second this

  • haha dont worry about haters.. its all just jelousy! i know what you mean in your description lol it feels weird to play in front of a camera.. but i was wondering what heads you were using.. looks like g2's but what about the snare.. looks and sounds really nice

  • Just ordered these! CAN'T WAIT!

  • What kind of snare is that, it sounds beautiful.

  • Hey bro throw you some Moon Gels on all toms and snare and your sound will be rock solid.

  • Hey nice video, what interface are you using..

  • hey whats ur recodring setup or interface?

  • hey man!! Your snare sound great! What is that?

  • Where did you get the Louis Vuitton snare????? How much was it? Sounds great and looks dope!

  • Hello friend, not be if you like that sound, but sounds very unprofessional, I get a correction is the toms microphones not close them both to the rings because it makes a sound with much "ring" and make it sound very ugly, put that point toward the center of the drum and you will notice the difference, I hope you serve and follow my advice...

  • Your kick would sound better if you had the mic not in the middle of the hole because it will pick some of the air coming off. It would sound a lot deeper but still have the sound that you like.Great Vid!

  • hey well i buy the mics then what i have to buy to record them or what ? and also i need an amplifier?

  • How much did that set cost? I have gretsch catalina maple ( I only use the 12 and 16 inch tom ) And I want to buy a new set.

  • yea they come with all the d-vice clamps and everything. pretty sweet

  • Heyy there, great sounding kit and mics! Just a quick question. Im looking into buying these, but i want to know if they come with clamps to put it right on the drum?

  • Your kick could certainly go some compression and your toms some tightening. But otherwise - not bad. :)

  • I find your playing to refined; needs to be sloppier!

  • that was realy good how much were the mics

  • Great playing and talent!! I've got my Mapex Saturn kit on order now and it will have the Mango Burst finish, I can't wait! Yours looks and sounds great!

  • specs of ur set?

i have same color saturn and i dont understand why people say that that color is ugly but i have and extra tom on rack but what size is that rack tom?

  • @wendepic this isnt my whole set. in the video i have 12,14,16 on the toms but i also have an 8 and a 10. i love the color. i get tons of compliments.

  • @psycodrummer911 The finish is natural right? or is it some kind of amber or something?

  • @psycodrummer911 Im Jealous because i cant find 8 inch tom of that colour from anywhere:P

  • @wendepic mapex doesnt make ugly drums so that aint no ugly finish haha

  • @powerbomb91 Sry but i ment that people says that ugly but its awesome finish! :9

  • specs of ur set?

  • the kit is real sweet. mic setup is great as well. I feel like your toms have some overtones going on though. Not sure if thats intentional or just the way the video is recorded, but they seem slightly out of tune. The floor is nice though.

  • hey btw excellent hands very clean around the toms KEEP GOING!!!

  • awesome job young man this is only for constructive criticism but make sure to watch that meter how do u like the kit? I'm serioulsy considering buying one myself

  • sound great!!! i have mapex orion

  • wat snare is tht

  • Great sounding kick, what you got in the drum dampening wise? I've just got a couple of real bargains a 10x8 & 14x12 Saturn toms both cherry finish, next stop a Yamaha Recording Custom 20x16 kick, you guessed it in cherry, hopefully, love the hi hats

  • @RacManRhythm thanks alot man. im actually playing with the kick open

  • @RacManRhythm thanks alot man. im actually playing with the kick open in this vid

  • @RacManRhythm thanks alot man. my kick is actually open on this video

  • Killer sound!

  • dang you're good. I have the same kit

  • Did you put a mic on the hi-hat? And is that a 22' K Custom Ride?

  • I play a saturn. Amazing kits. I'm liken that snare you got.

  • What hi-hat are you using in this film ?

    Really good sound !

  • @filipur hey thanks alot. i use K Custom Hybrids

  • @psycodrummer911 Same here. I have the 13.25 size. I get lots of compliments on my Zildjian K Hybrids.

  • what tom heads u use? there great

  • @anarcy7777u The heads are Evans G2 Coated

  • Your snare mic is.....just absolutely amazing, what mic did you use?.

Bass drum is done nicely as well. I also like the cymbal pickup.

    Overall pretty good!

Floor toms need work as previously stated.

  • Try pointing the tom mics in the general direction where the sticks meet the drum head. You also might to re-tune the heads to give a fatter tone and / or do some more processing to enhance the tone of the toms. A good quality EQ, compression and gate will get things sounding pretty nice.

  • The snare was pretty good, except a bit too much ring in my opinion. Also one cheap way of getting a good sounding snare without expensive racks etc, is to mic the bottom of the snare to pick up the 'sizzle' of the actual metal snares.

  • Comment removed

  • Nice playing, you got the skill and know how to really play good stuff! How do you like the AUDIX DP7 kit? I'm about to buy that kit for live and recording use

  • @DaDarkstar hey thanks alot! ya i absolutely love them. and all the places i play with them, the sound guys love them. especially the adx51 condensers. i highly recommend them!

  • toms sound like they need to be tuned unless that the sound youre looking for.

  • Which snare do u use, and which heads for toms ? good playing !

  • sounds great. what interface do you use?

  • thanks alot man. i just use a presonus firepod

  • AMAZING!

  • aww bummer i was goin for 1954

  • Classy reply dude, I like it :-)

  • haha thanks man. ya i know my heads on my toms are about as dead as they come and they need some serious tuning. i just found ur post worth replying too among the sea of all others dissing my disgruntled toms

  • something with the toms don't sound right, try to fix that and your good to go man.

  • Specs bro ?

  • Your toms are way too low and are almost indistinguisable between each other.

Other than that, I love the Mapex Saturn line.

I have Mapex Saturns and can't say enough good things about the richness of the toms and bass drum (the bass drum is a beast)!

  • @otraxo I have to agree about the tuning, but other than that, great mics, nice playing bro.

  • Very Nice Kit, I have a saturn kit, but all of your toms are very deep sounding. I don't know if that's intended but even the rack tom sounds like a floor tom man. Here's a tip, if you're micing the floor toms, take the mic further away from the head like quite a bit, it sounds better. Well in my opinion but i think in general too :P

  • is that the mango burst finish?

  • why yes. yes it is

  • nice choice

  • you need to either mic, tune, or mix the drums differently since your toms have no definition. they all sound similar when you go down the kit

  • cool, but toms sound like shit.

  • solid work, dude! great dynamics and sweet snare! i'm huge Louis Vuitton fan.

  • dude your snare looks like its from louis vitton

  • soz, and also, as a saturn user, i would say tune the toms up a bit, they tend to cut through better then, cheers, feel free to check out my vids

  • Your toms are kinda tuned too closely.. They all sound the same.. Really deep

  • Thanks for the great quality recording, I've been looking to buy a new kit for gigs but mainly studio and your video really shows the potential of the saturn (unlike many other drum videos on youtube). Sweet drumming also!

I agree with Old Drummer for the tuning of the floor toms but that's personal taste :-)

  • Sweet grooves my friend!

  • Good sound. You should mic the bottom of the snare also, And the floor toms are a bit to low. Good Sound though!!!

    Good job!

  • What mixer or interface do you use.

    Great Sound.

  • firepod

  • I think this is the first really good video of mic'ed drums! 5/5!

  • great sound from the mics.

    Would you recommend them?

  • most definately

  • Would you recommend getting the dp-7 or the dp-5's and some other overheads? Basically what I'm asking is how are the overheads?

  • well considering that the adx51's are like 3 bills each by themselvs id say getting them with the dp7 set is a pretty killer deal, i havent played with any overheads that respond like the adx51's. id say stick with the dp7s

  • To much snare ring. Why is it, at 1:45 you hit snare just one time, I think, and the ring is gone. At 4:27 you hit it a couple of times and the ring is gone. Why is this? Is it a tension problem on the snare head? Ever set up any "room mikes" to add to your mix? They are great for adding natural reverb, depending on the room. They can give a quality of "death" to your drums that you can not get any other way. Cymbals need to make a "splash" sound. Great playing and pretty good mix as well. :)

  • I think about the ring: when you hit a snare dead center and the head is tuned evenly, there will be less ring than when you dont hit it dead center. that why some hits there is ring, and some parts not.

  • I'm not a drummer, but to me and my way of thinking, if you loosen up the top head, that will give you a larger diameter of center to hit within. What I do, well, actually what my drummer does, is go down to the local drum center and hes got a bud there. That guy tunes his snare in a matter of 5 minutes, and it just plain rocks. Does it for free as well. It will last bout 6 hours of play and needs a re tune. One day, I am going to go see what he does. Snare sound is critical.

  • you got a point there. but, i only partially agree. if you loosen a head, the "center" will contract. if you tune the batter head up, the head gets stretched, and the center part will get bigger. THOUGH soundwise, a snare batter that is tuned lower, sounds fatter and therefore, may sound like it has less ring. try it, let your drummer crank his snare resonant head, but leave his batter head at medium tenstion. result: a fat crack sound with (almost) no ringing.

    Indeed, snare sound is crucial!

  • exactly. haha its my lack of accuracy

  • hey man, i forgot to ask lol. what interface do you use?

  • i gots the presonus pod of fire (firepod)

  • thanks man. ya when i hit the center theres a much shorter decay than towards the edge. and because my snares pretty tight that "sweet spot" is only like 2 inches wide. in some recordings i'll use a room mic i didnt in this case cuz im not too fond of the sound of my room. haha. but ya. i think its just a matter of me hitting the drum in the right spot cuz i like havin the ring when i want it like for some grace notes or buzz rolls but it cuts through the mix of a band when i hit in the center

  • love it man what snare is that i like it kit sounds great what you recording through any effects? what set what heads love the sound man just love it check out my vids -Branson M.
  • haha thanks alot man its a custom snare with an hd dry head. mapex saturn drums with evans g2 coateds recorded into a presonus firepod on a mac running logic studio. i didnt wanna go to heavy on effects cuz i wanted the recording to show what the drums really sounded like. i added a kiss of reverb. a tiny bit of gate on the kick and toms just to control some of the excess bleed. other than that its pretty much a dry recording.

  • hey man. i accidently hit remove instead of reply to your last comment haha sorry. but the snare is a 10 ply maple keller shell with all brass hardware, and it was custom built by my friend who has his own little company.

  • cool where is he located

how does he do the graphics on the snare

  • can you give me more info on the kit?

are the hi hats miked...or they coming from the overheads? I think your snare mic is a lil too close Too much ring!...sounds good overall on my headphones

  • ya. its a mapex saturn. hats dont have mics. its all over heads. i would recomend the adx51's to everyone. those mics are kickass. ya. thanks alot.

  • Wow....makes me feel good cuz I just ordered the Dp7 off of ebay....hi hats sound freakin great with just the overheads!!!

The whole kit sounds fantastic....great job with the tuning bro.

  • haha thaks alot man. ya everytime i play somewhere the sound guys cant get over how much the adx51s pick up. thats way sick ur gettin a set. these are in my opinion the best mics you can get in a set for the price.

  • Do you have the hi pass filter activated on the adx51's????

  • na. i just have them flat and 0dB

  • what mics do you have on what drums?

  • snare-i5

    12-d2

    14-d2

    16-d4

    kick-d6

    overheads-ADX51

  • Thanks. and btw great drumming

  • haha thanks alot
