I'm thinking of getting a toneport GX and using it with peavey mkiii.
I use a VST program that plays live and can record at the same time.
I can do all of this and have minimal noise? Main reason I'm getting a toneport is because using distortion effects and microphone-in port makes feedback and screeching.
I think your riffs are pretty good, however, I might try playing them in a different key to make them stand out from some of the current music out there.
Key signature has nothing to do with it. lol it will be the same intervals either way. But I do agree with you however about how generic music is today.
I've got a question about recording with ux: is it possible to PLAYBACK the backing track AND RECORD your part at the same time? If yes, is there any latency on it? Is it possible to monitor the overall mix in real time?
I just got one for christmas, and for some reason, it occasionally clips. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the clicky clippy whitenoise sound? And its not a physical click, only audio.
If you use a program such as Audacity, go to edit > Preferences > and set your recording / output to Line 6 UX2, unless you have multiple speakers, then set the output to whatever you'd like.
this port goes to usb, and then you use it with the programs it brings to record guitars, bass, or vocal tracks. The UX2 @ 200 bucks, brings the pod farm program, which basically makes your guitar sound insane when recording even though you dont have all that expensive gear that's emulated in the program ;).
@milesleedham: This is a recording interface. The effects you hear are not because of the interface, but product of the programs used. (I.E. Pod Farm)
Eek Sonic Syndicate? :S I didn't even think that band used riffs, I thought they just used cheesy octave harmonies and open chugs synced with the bass drum....very original stuff lol :P
Sorry about that. I was just trying to be honest without being rude. If those are your crappy riffs, your good ones probably sound a lot better. Besides, this is a really old video...
I recently got the toneport ux2 and I'm a complete noob with anything dealing with recording. I thought the usb connection between the toneport and the computer would allow the sound from my guitar to be transmitted by my computer speakers. But apparently not. I have the USB connected, and my guitar connected to the toneport, what else do I have to do?
same thing happened to me but i found a way around it. i have two sets of computer speakers and one set which have a plug that fits right into the headphones jack with an adapter atached to it. so maybe find some speakers with a plug that will fit in the phones jack. or you gotta go to your sound settings and set the playback and/or recording to line 6, you gotta fuck around with it
Hey man, I think that's awesome but could you please tell me what settings you used in Gearbox for example for the Asylum part? I'm still having difficulties finding good settings but yours seem great.. thanx!
ye but how do u get it to record...ive got reaper, but i cant record the instrument, there is the guitar plugged in the toneport here is sound, but if i pres on record on reaper it wont get any sound
Oi, the second "crappy riff" is fucking awesome, I'd love to see you flesh it out into a full song. I bought a UX2 about 2 months ago, as well, and have been recording my own songs non-stop, maybe we can do some stuff sometime. I use RiffWorks to record ($100 to buy it out), and it's definitely worth it if you're looking to form songs together.
Nice. I got a GX but I might get a UX2 so I can have more features, especially microphone inputs.

Of course, on the other hand, it could give it a more unique tone.

Can I see a video of your playing?
Then I can compare the tone to that on my 'One with the flies solo' as this is an old video
Because I checked your comments on other peoples and saw alot of whining, I want to see if you were just shooting your mouth off or not.

I love Soil work. Really like you playing.
As we speak!
i WONDER if you have power pack add on?
Also my friends suggest me to buy a pod.
"Theyre not that much more expensive, plus with PODs you can run them direct to amps as well as record. "
Do they cover the same sounds and amps?
Thank you.

can you like take your ux2, for example on stage and programme in the settings you want without any need for a computer to be near by???
cheers dude,
and also whats the deal with getting drums in there? ( loops etcccc )

Your "crappy riffs" sound like something Sonic Syndicate would do (which isn't exactly an insult).

Hey Sybreeder! Very nice playing here!
I was wondering if you could tell me your settings you use on Bastard Chain?
Thanks :)
Xeter245 3 years ago
Thank you.
I honestly don't remember my settings, this was done before I bought the metal shop for the toneport.
Now I like to use the bigbottom amp for rhythms and the engl powerball model (can't remember the line6 name for it) for leads.
Sybreeder 3 years ago
Oh ok :) Did you use Gearbox? I've just ordered my UX2 :)
Xeter245 3 years ago
Yeah afaik you have to use gearbox with toneports because theres no menu on the toneport itself to select an amp model.
Youll love the toneport, nothing beats jamming guitar at 2am without the neighbours shouting at you ;D
Sybreeder 3 years ago
Hahaha xD So agreed xD
But you like your UX2? And is there many possibilities in GearBox which follows?
Xeter245 3 years ago
So, do you have to hook the 'Line 6 Toneport UX2' up to an AMP or anything, or just striaght into your computer?
System9001 3 years ago
Just into the computer. I use the Analog Outs going into my amp to use while practicing though.

what you need to do ? READ THE GODDAMN MANUAL!
just kidding but seriously when you open gearbox you have that window that tells you "we'll show help getting strated"!

In the video they are yeah.
If you want to hear the best tone I've got from the toneport check out my mors principium est video with some good headphones on :)
Sybreeder 3 years ago
could you send me that preset? :o
xTristan1994 3 years ago
you can get good tones. You've just got to work with the gearbox software. You've got to expierement alot with different amps and effects

how do u record with the toneport ux2 do you need a program
dietcokeis 3 years ago
I use Reaper.
You can get better sounds with it, if use it like "Guitar -> Distortion pedal -> UX2" and set drive to "0", from amp models.
