I've beaten this game many times as a kid, and yes, the final boss fight glitches if you're jumping around or something when you kill Shredder. Your character freezes in place and Shredder continues attacking you. Nothing you can do but reset or power down.

The late game is much easier if you stock up on the Scroll, the most powerful weapon in the game. There's an optional building in Stage 3 (Turtle Van map) which you can go into repeatedly and max out Scroll.

Having Shredder jump up and continually punch you in the face (as you described) seems like the PERFECT ending for this game, because that's pretty much all this game does to us anyways.

Playing this game is, IMO, like getting into a street fight. You are going to get the shit kicked out of you and maybe, if you're lucky, you will be able to KO the other guy before he puts you in a coma. It is tough to celebrate afterwards isn't it? Because you feel so drained from all the punishment you took.

If you struggle on the last level, get the scroll (kia) weapon from level 3. Makes the game a lot easier and you can stock up for each turtle by keep going back in!!

The last level is a serious pain in the ass. I've been to it myself, but didn't get through that one corridor. (I am sure you know which one I am talking about.) At least I know the trick to getting through it now. :)

As for shredder himself... it is possible to just stand and hit him over and over in the left or right side of the screen, making him ridiculously easy to defeat. That is, if the game doesn't decide to get a mind of it's own and say "screw you!!!". :P

Congratulations, you succeeded in beating this game when my best attempt (when I was around 9 years old) I got pretty near the ending but that yellow area with the narrow tunnel where those white flying space-men wannabe things kept coming at me and not even the "super scrolls" which I stocked up to around 99 for each turtle in level 3 helped me out. When I got the TMNT 2 game, in the instruction book, it said that Shredder was tossed into a garbage truck, so I was thinking that the ending for this would be Shredder falling into the truck.

I had t he actual game and it game with a kind of codex/code book althought i forget why.the ending to the game looks alot different to how i remember it. all that technodrome stuff doesn't look familar. i remember falling down into a cavern with shredder and using boomerangs a crap load of times...but the boomerangs actually travelled in a circular motion instead of the straight back/forwards in this but i KNOW i've played this. i remember the dam and turtle van and rope sections well.confused!
