Biggest reason for Bass decline in the lake. Trash ass grass eaters need to be bank bound and left there to die. i remember when the lake was a great bass fishing destination, then came the state and the carp to please the pleasure boaters and skiers.
@THERCBOATNUT There are lots of other bass fishing holes without the grass carp. Sometimes you have to step back and appreciate fishing for fishing, not just "bass fishing" where everything else is considered "trash fish". There is no such thing as a trash fish, unless it's an invasive. Grass carp are bred sterile and stocked for weed control and are not invasive. Give them a try sometime. They are fun as heck to catch. I'm not against bass fishing, I love it. I'm against bass fishing snobs.
Take your ass else where. Carp are trash, taste like shit, and did I say they eat ALL the protective vegetation for several other species of fish? Take your European ethic and go f.u.c.k yourself. I am not a bass snob, I fish for all GAME species, the carp is not a GAME fish, thus it has no place destroying GAME fish habitat. PUT THAT IN YOUR PIPE AND SMOKE IT.
@THERCBOATNUT Define "game fish". Not by law, I mean seriously, what makes a fish a "game fish"? I am not European, I was born and raised in Tennessee. I hear that grass carp do not taste bad at all (just full of bones). And I don't fish them for food, I fish them for the enjoyment and they are just as worthwhile as any other fish in my opinion. Funny I've seen more than one pond full of grass carp that was also full of healthy bass. Who says they are fish killers? They seem to coexist fine.
Tennessee?!?!? fucking wow, You are posting your ignorance about a lake in CONROE TEXAS!! I live 10 min from this lake, you think I might have a slight Idea as to what I am talking about????
Game fish; A fish that actively takes prey fish as a means of survival; IT HUNTS FOR ITS LIVE PREY
Thus the need for cover as a place to hide and hunt for food. No grass no food. Carp have killed this lake before, I saw it first hand. So sit back in TENN and SHUT THE FUCK UP.
@THERCBOATNUT I can't say you really know what you are talking about, when you talk like that. I'm not speaking for your lake in particular. I'm speaking for carp and fishing in general. People need to pay more respect to some fish - one man's junk is another man's treasure. Be glad you don't have silver or bighead carp in your lake. You can stick to game fish only, but I fish for FISH and not be a snob about it. I love game fish too, I just went bass fishing today in a river containing carp.
@fiestefa It sure is carp fishing.... just done differently than you would. Although I disagree with running the scale hook through the mouth to weigh them. Always try to treat them carefully and return to the water quickly.
I just use a small 28" alum baseball bat. A few whacks and the slimmy bastard just falls off the hook. I let them lay where they fall, FUCK CARP.
