  • Listen to the roar of that engine!

  • i played this game on my 386-pc

  • Yes the sound of this game was very nice!!

  • the tune is really awsome, its incredible what this small, old SID-Chip can do.

But, this game wasn't good. Just the Sound and the Graphic was very nice(64kbyte RAM, 1MHz 8Bit CPU...)

  • The driving sound is similar to sounds from a toilet at a diarrhea =)

  • what a tune!

  • music is AWESOME

  • Best Game ever ;D

  • This compares very well with the DOS version (see You Tube), the DOS has beeps. and the graphics aren't that much better! :)

  • Have this as a ringtone as well as most of Accolade's C64 music ;)

  • @KoivuTheHab I also had and played this game many times on the PC but did not know also existed for Commodore 64.

  • Qualifying P7 with such a big mistake and that is on the highest difficulty level. :)))

  • I have tears in my eyes.

  • was this made with ms paint

  • Crazy 3D..

  • how can you bear with the sound

  • I was just playing F1 2010 about 30 mins ago and now I watching this. hah. I really liked this game back in the day.

  • the engine sounds are horrible... its sound like a big mosquito above our ears :P

  • DSI???OMG.

  • Loved the music in this game. Amazing use of samples and the SID chip.

  • dsi?

  • The game was awesome.

On the german track you could cut through the grass at the verymost right corner with full speed. I still remember that, although 20 years have passed.

That was the time when they introduced these brand new pocket calculators in school. Which enabled me to count to more then 10.

  • BIG FART :) BEAUTIFUL COMMODORE :)

  • Accolade,Ocean,Epyx,Acces,U.S Gold, lucas arts, they did the best 64 games!

  • @Citizenkill I agree. You're forgetting EA though.

  • @TeamRocketReviews Yes! but i played just skate or die from EA

  • @Citizenkill That's a classic, but there are others too from EA. Archon, Wasteland, The Bard's Tale, they made amazing games. You should check them out. Most of their games were released by Ariolasoft in Europe though, but it's not a problem if you live in the US.

  • music's pretty cool...

  • this race is in monaco, everywhere is grass instead of a few buildings, but suddenly there is a tunnel :D

  • the graphics are better than black ops =]

  • I looove the car sound!

  • Oh i loved the sound of the intro !! This game was so cool ,i played this game for hours !!! Super memories !! Think i'm gonna take a ride now !!!

  • What an amazing intro tune, I miss the Commodore 64. Am glad have still kept mine.

  • By C64 standards this game would be state of the art and pushing the limits of what was possible with the 64. It looks almost good to be an Amiga game. When we started getting our paws on Amigas in the late 1980s it was a quantum leap in graphics quality.

  • music's pretty good

  • Anybody into online retro gaming (Kaillera)? I can occasionally find people to play MAME with online, but C64 (or Atari, Intellivision, NES, MSX, etc) & more "vintage" games, it's harder to find people for that. I would love to play some Archon or International Karate w/against somebody. There are a lot of C64 games that I'd love to play online.

  • Wahnsinn...das war eins meiner Lieblingsspiele...und jetzt höre ich diesen Nervtötenden Motorensound und sehe diese Krümelgrafik :-D

  • EPIC FPS!!!!!!

    1

  • nice upload, but you are driving very bad :D

  • ARRRGGGGHHHHHH !!!!!

    The sound !

  • best c64 music!

  • I used to love the music on this.

  • Graphics much beter then dirt 2.

  • Anyone here remember the power pack getting red hot whilst playing the C64 for literally days on end? Ahhh, memories :0)

  • @webbusinesskit That would usually happen while my friends & I would get into all day/night Summer Games competitions, lol. You still into C64/retro gaming? VICE is an awesome C64 (+Vic20, PET, C16, etc) emulator.

  • LOL omg thank you for uploading this it's a real time machine!

  • the music is kick ass :D

  • 2nd gear before you even moved lol

  • @TheThingamajig It's on neutral in the start.

  • @samwyse2006 i stand corected, bud. that'sa pretty advanced game for it's age.

  • holy shit, its just like driving a real car! love the old videos, c64 for life.

  • Wow, this brings back memories.. best racing game at the time.. but a lot better on Amiga of course.. but then it was blown away by F1GP eventually :D

  • wow, its exciting to afford how the games have benn 30 years ago, its really amazing, they didnt have much difference to the games which worked on Windows 98 (my first PC was one)

  • This was on the C64? Didnt know that. I had it on an old PC.

  • wtf? farting sounds?

  • Impressive!

  • idk how can play race with smoothness like 1 fps/2sek 0o

  • @CnNbS4KANEHBOSM The matter is that this game was technically over-demanding on a modest C64 because a 1mHz 6510 CPU had to move lots of graphics concurrently.Nonetheless,it remains a masterpiece.

  • @CnNbS4KANEHBOSM In the 80's thats all we had though. I've never played this but it does remind me of Test Drive 2 which I did play over and over. Even if the framerate is rather low these games still play pretty well.

  • these graphics are way better than forza 3 I mean look at that attractive lag!

  • I never could play racing games before the PSOne generation, it just never felt right, too much of a slideshow. The only racing game I really enjoyed was Mario Kart and even then I think it was just too limited by the graphics.

  • @TheHalluzination

You forget F1GP on the PC with 60fps, Lotus I-III with 60fps, F-Zero on the SNES with 60fps and a bunch of other games way before the PS1 came with WipeOut and Ridge Racer

When Ridge Racer came out, there were already better racing games on the PC with the Need For Speed and stuff and then there was the 3DFX Voodoo, which made games like Fatal Racing or P.O.D. possible.

  • I lol'd at the US flag that said Detroit but all the other countries had their proper names

  • This is so much better than Rfactor.

  • This game made me interested in cars and car technology.

  • wow. how shit. i wanna throw a rock at it

  • I was a Master here!

  • Best music ever

  • I used to play this game when I was 7....lmfao

  • this must be after the game pitstop which i had but not this. in pitstop u could go in the pit and get gas and change tires, very advanced game back then

  • THAT IS WHAT I CALL A LONG FART!

  • I had this in dos Version

  • i love the engine sound

  • maiki, you show a little lack of knowledge on commodore hardware ;) this colours are equivalents of old vic chip, which was implemented in the oldest c64 versions. the colours you probably know are from newer version of the chip ;)

  • Wow...how far we have come. I played that game on my c64 back in the day, now i play f1 2010.

  • Masterpiece.

  • VERY GREAT GAME and the Music is EPIC

  • good game

  • Wow, I haven't see this in donkers of years... That's great.

  • it looks like its lagging..

  • 1 mhz !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet

  • Then we wanted arcade graphics. Now we want Commodore 64.

  • CRANK UP THEM BUMP'N TUNES YAAA!XD

  • man i loved this game! c64 the legend lives on!

  • This game was a big hit. It's technically even better than crappy 286 version - just listen to the music and smooth menus etc... Why do you use hacked colour palette? Real C-64 does not have these vibrant "CGA" colours thus this video is a bit of a fake.

  • @maiki60fps I played the game with the default settings in VICE. The colour change is unintentional. I don't know when it happened, either during capturing or after editing it.

  • sounds and looks a bit like the amiga version

  • big game,big c 64

mi ricordo quando giocavo con il mio amico a fare il record della pista. ho ancora il floppy con i nostri nomi salvati sui tempi dei vari circuiti

  • SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE DOING THE LONGEST FART IN THE WORLD!

  • @boldziga No, that's the roar of Ferrari's 12-cylinders ! LOL... actually, it does sound more like flatulence.

  • @boldziga LOL absolutely !!! i talked over a mosquito but you're right XD it's a very very long fart :X

  • Damn we are spoiled. We just spit on games like this, but back then it was the greatest to come since water beds.

  • very good graphics for c64 although that engine sound does get annoying

  • we played this when i was 5 years or sth

  • this grafix are much beter than today becuse they dont use crapy CGI!!

  • imagin this in surround sound.... the engine will be 5x more anoying

  • @214BIgl i might try that but i dnt think c64 would support surround sound....

  • the best game ........THX

  • The skidding sound sounds more like the stall warning indicator in my airplane.

  • @sexcation lol!

  • @sexcation lol

  • So funny that the guy who is now Head of Microsoft Interactive Entertainment unit, which included the 360, was a designer for this game hehe.

  • See the 1.5l turbo engine, what I've been reading it'll be used again in 2011 season.

  • Turbo era !!!!! :D

  • the evolution seems impossible .. even my cell already has better quality! 21 years ago to be impossible cellphone ... my birth year:)

  • the engine sound is pissing me off

  • Game had such potential. Just a little too early for its time!

  • this game is old but IT HAS SICK BEATS!!! and the graphics is not that bad for a very old comp.

  • The funny thing is that in-game engine noises haven't got any better.

  • Badass music by Kris Hatlelid!

  • I played the game too on my Commodore64 lol Same as Outrun and Commando. Later i got the Commodore Amiga 500.

  • Who really needs more than 3 FPS anyway?

  • thats pretty hardcore for c64 :)

  • Ozzy Osborne said he can't remember to the '80-es. Poor guy, he didn't have a C64 for sure.

  • Holy fuck... A REAL 3D environment.

No, seriously, in 1985, that was fucking amazing.

And technology have certainly evolved in 35 years. Just compare that to, for example, Crysis. Shows how far we've come. One can just wonder how games will look in another 30 years.

  • Sorry, 25 years. typo.

  • they wont even be games lol, i think our lives will just have incorporations of virtual reality all around lol

  • The C64 version had the best cockpits. Look ! You can see the marlboro logo from the inside !

  • uhhahah my first F1 game... What a game! XD

  • Dude this game was THE SHIT! I miss my C64.

  • @Nathandevil1 some stupid kid 20 years from now will say the same of the car game you play today.

  • @waskoma Codemaster's F1? Surely, I jest sir!

  • @Nathandevil1 you are a baby or an idiot?

  • Best Racing Simulation ever

  • Although, personally I'm Atari ST fan I'll tell you: "Commodore 64 is like Elvis, it's the KING! He will never die". I know what I'm talking about, since my brother had (and has) C64. We were playing together a lot on both systems. Maybe ST has more power as it's 16-bit system, but definitely C64 has much more spirit in his small case. I love this system.

  • haha yes THE KING never die c64 4va

  • Great job recording and uploading this for us. Thanks a lot! But could you record it again and upload a 2nd file without pressing start? I like to hear how the music develops. # C64... we will never forget!

  • wow!! I remember playing this game when I was 6 y/o!! I think I remember typing in LOAD, "*:", 8,1....haha!!!!

  • Fantastic music machine. For that brief period before the Amiga got massive, the C64 was the only home micro which could both compose and sound fantastically.

Many people still use Commodores for music today, as fully integrated studio composition and synth machines.

I do too. Paste this title into the Youtube bar: COMMODORE 64 "COOTY"

    Also Google in CONCEPT-SINGLE NET

  • Haha 0:25 ds I

DS I is the best gamecomputer :P

  • Great music and box art.

    Checkout Mr.Hatelids other jobs:

Power at Sea & Wings of Fury.

  • I broke maybe 3 or 4 joysticks on this one, playing with friends - who's gonna end a circuit faster. Good times indeed, nothing to worry about, only chicks (I was 14!!!) and games.

  • should have been some music during driving though :)

  • @pastorrtom

No. In a simulation, you don't have music during the race.

  • This is truly one of the best graphical exploiting Commodore 64 game Ive seen.. Really well programmed, Im guessing it came out mainly for the Commodore 64 and then it was ported to other consoles?

So nice overview, colors and everything looks really good :)

  • Wegen diesem Spiel, hatte ich mir 1990 meinen C64 gekauft. Allein die Musik im Auswahlmenü der Fahrzeuge ist der Hammer.

  • commodore c64 is a master piece

  • I like this game, it feels like the precursor to Grand Prix Legends (1998, Sierra)...The C-64 version had brilliant music, which the PC version had only beeper music, and sadly the Amiga was not very good sounding...I mean the theme being played on a XYLOPHONE!? No way...Prefer my synth leads and synth guitars thank you very much!

  • Das Spiel hatte ich! Super!

  • ive got that game

  • Heh incredible how this version was MUCH better than e.g. a PC-XT or even a 286 with EGA/VGA, that cost maybe 50 times as much as a C64.

  • Mode 7 does it again :3

  • i have a question... did you use hypercam for this thing? and if you did how did you do it? lmao thats crappy picture but in the 80's it was the best you can get XD

  • It's captured with GTK-RecordMyDesktop on Linux.

  • for the 80s its very nice xD

  • nice fps for a 1mhz CPU ;)

  • this was NFS 20 years ago. this is gaming history.

  • @waskoma

NFS 20 years ago? Agreed.... but pick me an NFS game which will be remembered 20 years from now :)

  • thats what your child will say when they play VR games

  • Can anyone load up this intro in the version of the Amiga, please?

  • Kris Hatlelid did the music. What a fantastic job!

  • The only poor thing in this game is the sound of the car's engine. If they had used the sound from Stunt Car Racer, the game would be perfect.

  • I have this game in my store, my website is on my profile.

  • Pretty impresive for its time. I always admired Commodore stuff. When the Amiga came, I thought it would rule the market, it was way ahead of its time...

  • FFS! that F1 car has been on the beanz

  • Wow!

Somewhy I always thought that C64 has very poor graphics capabilities. Thats probably because I never seen It even in videos.

  • I love monza's track, it's so fast..

  • Seen the PC version of this on YT? This was the time when C64 could still beat the PC!!!! Good times!

  • LOVE THE MUSIC

  • has it still turbo motors?

  • this game looks 1280371283 times better than most dos games and even some recent racing games today

  • nothing could beat the commodore 64 in the golden days. Suck it apple and IBM! =P

  • Ps 3 - Good

    All xboxes - Shit

    Commodore - Awsome

  • i lol'd

  • xbox? wtf is that get with it mate, c64 is the way to go these days

  • wow nice music

  • Kick ass music! Perhaps the best damn music I have ever heard for a computer game.

  • Damn , i remember myself playing this 20 years ago, damn was a nice childhood.

  • I remember trying to play this as a 7 yr old,,,,,. 10 minute qualifying laps & all sorts!

The option select music is awesome though........

  • grandpa of RACE07 and GTR2 :D
