So I've noticed there's no wire trace leader being used here? I've lure fished for pike both with and without a wire leader and to be honest I've caught way more fish without and lost none from bitting through the line, it only makes sense really, they can see the bloody wire same as us! So am I just lucky not to have lost a fish or does pike biting through the line apply only to a static dead bait where the pike is munching on both bait and line instead? I use 20lb fluorocarbon line, no leader.

@PangeaSpreads i've been using an 8" leader all the time lately.. just started going out for pike... i'm still having the same luck with bigmouths, and it ended my cut line mystery fish days.. got a couple decent pick's, and my first pike (25" 4-5lb or so) of the year. anyone notice if all black leaders work better? mine have chrome swivels and clasps.

hey man, nice fish, is the glasson marina? i fish there often but i usually use deadbait, i caught a 21 lb er in the summer FANTASTIC. how do you get round where your fishing ?

Nice fish and that looks like a great lure just bought some and cant wait to try them out. The prologic guys really sem to know what their doing.

Dave, I know that basin well. Do you fish round that area often? As a fellow lure angler around that area I may well have bumped into you at some stage.
