The autobahn is one of the safest in the world, for sure, but the accidents as disproportionally low as they may be, almost always produce fatalities. The message still holds true, "the faster the speed, the bigger the mess", it isn't a frequency thing, it is a commentary on the net result.

@TenthPrestegeisaFAG You are correct of course. I am advocating 40 kph zones in al cities and towns as a default speed limit. It is already that way in much of the US and Canada. With NASCAR, there are only cars there. I have no objection to travelling at high speeds in specially designed roads where there are no cyclists and pedestrians around, but outside the city. It works in North America, as you have vast expanses to cover. In small countries like NZ it is not necessary.
