  • I could listen to him all day. As interesting in real life as his books. What a man.

  • YES, ROT SYLIS!

Anybody know what the above is an anagram of?

  • chemicalbrotherkid: Style Is Rosy? Oyster Is Sly?

I give up, what's an anagram of yes rot sylis?

  • LISEY'S STORY

  • fav!

  • yeah u r right

  • Im in the process of reading The Stand, and i have to say its the best book ive read thus far. Terrifying, sad, occasionally funny, and dooming. Amazing book.

  • i read Lisey's Story, and i liked it a lot, now, i'm reading Pet Semetary

  • Liseys story is probably his best book. It gets you thinking

  • TEH SH INING

  • I read six of his books so far. I didn't like Lisey Story at all. Pet Sematary and Carrie, those were really good novels.

  • First for me was Salem's Lot, then The Dead Zone, then The Shining or Pet Semetary I can't remember, but Salem's Lot got me going real good...

  • yes youtube is great, they bring legends alive.

  • My mother was one of the reasons I started reading King. I saw the movie adaptations and I thought the books were just the same. But my mom told me that ther's more to the books than Hollywood does. I read Misery and Dolores Claiborne and I know what she's talking about.

  • The first book I read by King was Gerald's Game at 13 I think. Wrong book, I know but I just picked it up snd couldn't stop reading it. I'm reading Lisey's Story and it is pure King's imagination. The best horror love story ever!! LOL

  • It had been a while since I read a King novel. I saw Lisey's Story one day and decided to pick it up. It was GREAT!

It was kind of creepy in the sense that some subject matters seemed to have been written from my own life experiences. But that's what probably makes any book (film, etc...) so good--you can relate to it and it shakes loose those memories (good and bad) from the corners of your mind.

A good novel to be re-introduced to King. Solid writing and great characters.

  • did u read the shining

  • you rock, steve!you could really be so funny without trying.i have most of his works and im addicted.

  • uh I lied..it is there. the audio is fucked up though

  • he came to plug hi book and they don't even tell you what it's called.

  • I LOVE THAT BOOK~~~

  • Hahaha!

That only goes to show you don't have the answer. PRICELESS indeed.

  • I do, I do. You didn't answer my question though:

Since when is You Tube a synonym of great video quality?

Please, enlighten this wee carrot brain, yes?

  • Since when is You Tube a synonym of great video quality?

  • He lives really close to where I grew up.

  • Really? they were? The Shining? Stand By Me? Shawshank Redemption? The Green Mile? He's just made a lot of movies, dude. I have to say though that a lot of them are shit.

  • ok...except for those lol

  • and Pet Sematary, that was good. the Dead Zone was a good book, but a horrible movie. i lasted 20 min. then stopped watching

  • I guess it's easy to make a book with supernatural elements into a crappy movie - it takes the really talented directors to make it work. Like Stanley Kubrick who directed The Shining and Frank Darabont who directed both The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile - both which happens to be two of the greatest movies I've ever seen.

  • You shouldn't be directing that question towards The King, because he just comes up with the stories. And you, good sir, suck dick. Good day.

  • Excellent ! I agree whole heartedly.

  • you tube is spooky? lol..maybe he will write a nice novel about you tube. Could you imagine what this man could come up with?

  • Dark Half, IT, Night Shift, Thinner (under his psedonym)

  • Dark Half, IT, Night Shift, Thinner (under his psedonym)

  • I loved Liseys Story and just read Duma Key. Both blew me away. I just picked up Blaze and the new Marvel Dark Tower book. I was sooo excited when I saw it sitting on the shelf, I just held it in my hands staring at it for who knows how long. I just listend to you read about Lard Ass and it made my morning! Keep up the great work and try and get your ass to Michigan soon for a book signing!!!!

  • he looks like he's wearing the same boots as he did when he played Jordy Verrill haha

  • no literature

  • I like to read Stephen's books and think of guitar riffs while I read them. If you could only imagine the dynamics in the music when I read "Bag of Bones!"

  • agreed. whatever saves the cheap-asses money they take. if your going to put a celeb on the net at least make him half-way understandable and make everyone else shut the hell up when he talks.

  • I think I saw a ghost walk by at about the 1:20 mark.

  • Great stuff. Thanks for pointing out the big white

  • Agreed, you'd think youtube knows how to encode their own videos properly.

  • wow even youtube uploads in shitty quality, i mean its their own company... the only excuse that i can see for this bad quality is if its from a camera phone.

  • He's a true genius!!

  • Stephen king is an excellent writer, and I feel honoured to read his books

  • is that the real stephen king

  • Yup thats really him.

  • I check back here occasionally just to see if this pathetic attention whore is still raving. Sure enough.

  • What?

  • I was talking about captain love bomb. Not Stephen King. I love Steve..

  • I'm talking about Captain Love Bomb. Not Stephen King. Steve's the man.

  • Shut up! I was just fuckin' with you. Quit bein' such a foo G. Foo G La. Stephen King is great. Bubblegum fiction? Yeah..compaired to Hunchback Of fuckin' Notredam. What was that What you WEIGH bullshit? Fair enough I suppose. Oh and just because you wouldn't jerk off to the idea of Dark Tower doesn't mean you should judge those who do.

  • Gwar isn't goth.

And they aren't new, either. They've been around for over 20 years.

    You're an idiot, aren't you?

  • What you say holds no weight. I don't think you speak with meaning. I bet your a coward. You don't wanna see me. I know what your horrible fears are used for know what I'm sayin'. I could pick your mind into chunks asshole. So VomitPart2 stays.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Lovebomb, I'm afraid I have distressing news for you. Your son will be...the lamest superhero EVER! (Extra credit to the first person to correctly guess what I'm quoting).

  • Cheifchumley is so absolutly right...CaptainLoveBomb is the guy who ignores the parts of arguments that make him wrong and focuses only on parts that he can work with. He's an attention sucker...vampire of the mind?..I'd be willing to bet so. Dark Tower is something to be

honoured and thankful for and if you can't see that than you'll just be manuevered around.

  • Captain, I view pretty much all current fiction as "bubblegum". Very little nutritional value. I do read classic novels, and I do make an exception for King. The reason is that I have enjoyed It since I was about 12 years old, and seeing the end of the dark tower series has been a long time coming.

  • The remark about things being intertwined is way off base. just as one example, the end result of Imsomnia saves a character that is instrumental in the end of the dark tower. There are a lot more examples that someone that knows more about King can give you. I don't read fiction anymore, but I make an exception for King. If you dislike him so much, why are you here?

  • I guess i will jump in here, Captain. The Dark tower is King's Magnum Opus. he started it in the 70's and tying it all together has been his life's work to date. I believe the final book of the dark tower lists the 15 or 20 books that tie in to the dark tower. By the way, you talk like someone that has watched the movies, but has not read the books. Which is pretty easy, It is bubblegum fiction after all.

  • Have you published your manifesto yet Cap? I'm eager to see it so I can finish my profile to submit to the FBI. Just kidding. Don't be such a snob. Some things are just meant to be entertainment. All stories are true.

  • Stephen King's writing is so much deeper than horror. His characters are well developed, and the storylines are absolutely amazing.

  • You can't get literature as good as his from a money-whore author. Going and saying that Stephen King influences every school shooting is pure . He just writes what comes to him, and it's the psychopaths out there who are hungry for attention who go and imitate what happens.

  • Sorry it sucks.

  • CaptainButtRape If you don't like his story's why do you watch his video's? Nobody really cares about your shitty opinion on this great author. Should you make a new youtube named"HilaryClinton"? Mabe you can go and discuss with her violent games and your last period.

  • Now now. No need to get hostile. Just saying my opinion is ill-informed isn't much of an argument. I do think that stupid people do stupid things after hearing certain songs or reading certain books. I don't think that's a good reason to start banning things. Who decides where to draw the line. I hate music that is offensive to women. That's why I don't listen to it.

  • Why is what I'm saying rhetoric, but what you're saying isn't. Careful with those big words genius. I'm just stating my opinion.

  • I think you're focusing too much on the fact that he profits from his work. If somebody is going to allow you to support yourself doing something you truly enjoy doing as opposed to flipping burgers, it's pretty hard to say no. Especially if you don't have to violate your own moral code. It seems like you may be the type of person who thinks everyone is too stupid to be accountable for their own actions. This doesn't include you, of course, but everyone else.

  • There is killing in the world. Putting it into a story doesn't make it that way. Writing is often a reflection of the world. How can you blame the writer and not the crazy person who committed the crime? "It's not that guy's fault cuz he read a book where that happened" Grow up.

  • You want to make the world safe at all costs? You want to remove all actions and words that may possibly incite somebody to do something bad? People need to learn to be responsible for their own ACTIONS. Outlawing words is very dangerous. Writing a fictional story about murder and encouraging others to commit murder are two very different things.

  • You can't blame an artist, author, musician, or anyone else when some crazy person kills a bunch of people. You can only blame the crazy person. Since the crazy person is usually dead afterward, there is nobody to punish. People need to blame someone they can take it out on.

  • If you're having trouble finding meaning in King's work, you're focusing too much on the events of the story, and too little on the characters. In spite of the outrageous events, his stories have some very real human perspectives.

  • obviously you haven't read the dark tower series

  • that is one of the stupidest fucking things in the world...i don't know whether you're talking about desperation...or if it was another story of his, but no persons actions should be held accountable to a yarn or piece fiction, and if it is the problem it's still the persons fault to decide that the dedication note has his name on it, even though he hasn't mt the guy

  • Love the dog part of the story at the end!

  • From Judas Priest, to Stephen King, there is a very long way.

King gets you to think, Judas tells you what to think.

  • First: there is NO way I'd stay on "hold" that long! Second: Confusing Lincoln with Omaha Nebraska is feasable, but NOT if you can remember such fine details about the last page of a newspaper and a dog named Ralph! Hats off to any director who can successfully convey this, or any King work, on film! That passage was a MESS!

Third: His mouth is HUGE! Like Carly Simon! What do these people use as a toothpick? A freakin' rake handle?

I'll wait to see the movie, if it gets that far.

  • CaptainLoveBomb, i have also been surprised by fans. they really think their favourite writers are amazing.

  • Jeez, CLB, did Stephen King steal your car or something? You've got quite the vendetta.

  • Yeah...you can't call The Dark Tower sick. There are sick elements, but it's a story of redemption. I challenge you to read the entire body of his work and say you wouldn't be proud to pass it down to the next generation. Thank God a writer of his caliber is so prolific.

  • Doesn't everyone? I'm sure J. K. Rolling doesn't write the HP series with teaching kids moral values being the only thing in mind. ;/

  • Of course it's weird, "sick", etc. That's what makes it good.

  • Really, if you hate Stephen King, then why watch something that has to do something with him?

  • Shut up captainlovebomb! stephen king is one of the most clever and talented writers ever! How about you write us a book! Excuse that last suggestion. So if you don't like Stephen King don't comment on his videos!

  • yes..I agree with cave girl he like knows..

  • The scary thing about Mr. King is that he writes about the things in the world that are actually scary. Sure he has books about all sorts of weirdness...but the really scary ones are about the things that happen every day...children hit by trucks....women abused by men...losing the love of your life to some freak medical incident such as a faulty vein in the brain...this is why he is scary and why people that can look past cars that kill because they are jealous love him so very very much.

  • I love this book!

  • Sounds like any old guy now.

  • I have to agree with the other commenters - what's with the horrible video quality? There are webcams that do better than this. It's a decent video, but just a friendly suggestion - next time you interview a world reknowned author, splurge a bit and get the camera that costs a little more than $50. :p

  • ...more like a little more than walmart $19.99

  • Surprisingly poor video and sound quality for an official YouTube vid. Just like that annoying vid the owners did after becoming millionaires. "Hey, we aren't a big money-making corporation - we're just regular people". Yeah, right!

  • I'm a small press author with a video on YouTube. I'm in awe to discover a video here with Stephen King, reading from his book! Wow! I saved Parts 1 & 2 to my Favorites.

  • Poor quality vid youtube..hang your heads in shame.

  • seriously, where is SK's channel?

  • I've read every story that this man has published, except the one he's discussing. And I'll have read it soon, also.

    Stephen King is GOLD.

Why doesn't he have his own channel?!?

  • One would think an "official" YouTube video would have better sound than this!

  • where is the pot?

  • Mr. King can read to me forever! Thank you.

  • spooky...

  • I totally dugg that.. but what was it he said.. Reality is what? round??

  • Cool, I want to hear him read firestarter from start to finish for an audience of fans.

  • I read that too! it was awesome.

  • One should think the YT-staff could afford better videoequipment. 5 stars for content, none for quality.

  • SERIOUSLY.. wtf?

  • just finished reading it, god their was a lot of filler, but i guess were used to that.

  • intersting two videos.

  • 3 kings getting together

  • you are clever. LOL

  • I am looking forward to this book. Nice to hear about here :)

Read Rose Madder and Bag of Bones...actually the entire Dark Tower series also if you can actually READ..as in read into what he is saying and look past what you already see...especially in Rose Madder..that is an absoulutely awesome book.

  • I can't understand what he's saying. The sound qulaity is horrible.
