lol, Buddy is so much like the gelding I have now, and the buckskin gelding I had to sell in 2000...what a ham! He reminded me of the time I tried to teach him to bow...He got stuck on the part where he lifts his leg for a treat....so like how buddy nods his head whenever he wants a treat, Jet would walk around with his one leg in the air, when he wanted a treat....I had to warn his new owners, that he did this, not to worry, he didn't hurt himself, he just wants a treat! lol
@Westernbloggen : it is more advanced and really gives up control, but if you do if you do it enough it would work, but WHEN and it will happen, a horse gets spooked, it will take much longer to get back control depending the spook and the horse. I just do it in comfortable and fenced areas, so the horse cant run into traffic or ditches and get hurt, that way if a horse wants to test and run off, then I just ride until the horse wants to slow down and listen.
We change our horses feed constantly. We have 3 types of hay, 2 or 3 different grains, beet pulp, and supplements. I agree that there should be some variety.. Eating the same thing over and over is just too boring.
Answering the question: Do all horses need a rug in arctic temps
I'm in Southern Finland, and spotted a horse with a super-duper winter coat on... playing with the blanket that he'd managed to wriggle out of. Answer for that horse: Nope. :)
Most of the herds I've seen are staying grouped together, grooming each other, munching on hay on the ground, keeping warm, but not looking miserable at all.
