That doesn't really make sense, since Democrats would remember his failure/betrayal in '04 even if he made a serious bid.

Sorry, but Bill Clinton is liberal (not as liberal as Gore, but still liberal) and was able to win many southern and western states. Don't blame it on ideology. Gore had a narrow strategy of winning Florida and Penn, instead of thinking of other ways to 270. Had he won any ONE of Tenn, WV, NH, NV, CO, etc. he would have won. He took a gamble and lost. Liebrman was part of the problem of not expanding the map. It's not a Jewish thing, it's a Lieberman thing. Should have chosen a southern Dem.

Gore had moved left and was out of touch since he last ran by himself in TN in 1990. There is no "southern dem' VP that would have no one damn bit of difference in TN or WV or Arkansas.

But I do disagree with you about Howard Dean. Howard Dean isn't the campaign Obama structured his run for the White House after, it was Bill Clinton. Obama's campaign was a modern version of James Carville's 1992 themes:

1. It's the economy, stupid.

2. Change vs. more of the same

3. A hard issue (in 92, it was health care; in 08, energy)

Obama extended Clinton's ground game and intuitive campaign tactics to modern terms (i.e using the internet). It wasn't original, but very effective.

Since 1928, Jews have on average voted 75% for the Democratic presidential candidate.
