  • I remember these movies came in from AVON, my grandma would buy them for me.

  • And I absolutely LOVE the song that the Blue Fairy sings near the beginning of the movie. So beautiful.

  • OMG, I HAVE this movie!!!! And on VHS tape too!!!!! I absolutely loved this movie when I was younger, I accidentally put my hand under a board on our gate and got into a wasp's nest. I was trying to stop my dog from getting out. Hand turned a pale blue and I was yelling obscenities. But I did get a cool movie deal out of the whole thing.

  • Wow, I havn't seen this movie on like 10 years. And I remember it as funny but very, very scary....

  • Imagine if the Nostalgia Critic reviews THIS.

  • I remember this movie. I thought it was scary for a child's movie.

  • in the words of papa klump....

    THIS IS SOME SCARY SHIT!

  • I still have this on VHS. So freaking scary ad a 4 year old.

  • Geez, thats pretty creepy stuff!

  • I had this on VHS when I was like 3 or 4 years old. Ah, the memories.

  • Ive been searching for this for years!!! Anyone have any idea what the film was called where they flew on a feather or ice ship??? not animated but they were models??

  • Awesome! I remember this movie! Pinocchio's voice was done by Scott Grimes, same voice actor of steve from american dad but younger.

  • @Horrorhalloweenalien

He was also Brad Brown on Critters 1 and 2

  • This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. Time to dig up those buried memories.

  • Guys, you are flipping so much because this movie have some weird and scary images?

You should stop watch that Disney bullshit and read the original novel written by Carlo Collodi. The original story was pretty dark, edgy and surreal... But anyway it was also a great story that teaches about being onest and loyal. While this sequel is not as dark as the book but it focuses very good about the freedom of choice.

Collodi would enjoy this movie for sure.

  • Now, there's a Pinocchio I've not seen. I'm a huge fan of the 1930's classic.

Looks like it's an interesting one.

  • I used to have this movie on original VHS but my dad got rid of it along the other animated classics by the time I was 12 going on 13. He said "We can get your favorite animated movies on DVD in the future." This is one of my favorite animated movies but they don't have it on DVD. Some movies I used to have are now rare. Those rare movies are gone. Thanks to YouTube and Wikipedia I was able to find all the rare movies I enjoyed watching as a child. I hope they don't get deleted in future.

  • Such a great animated film yet so dark as well, classic

  • I was born 1992 and my nan bought me this video from a charity shop, I'm now coming up for 20 and I still would prefer to watch this over Transformers, Twilight, Harry Potter, LOTR or any new film in the cinema. I don't know what it is, but the soundtracks, the themes and the story behind this film I enjoy it and the memories flood back, I relate to this movie in a way because I tried to prove myself to my dad also.

  • Call me crazy, but I like this movie more than the original Disney's Pinocchio. =P

  • @BowserandLover1

    Yup, your're crazy!!! ha ha

  • I came across this at random on Wikipedia. The title sounded so Metal, I just had to check it out.

  • love this movie :) watched it everyday when i was a child :)

  • This is my second favourite Pinocchio movie (after the 1996 live-action version). Why? Because it's dark, edgy, it has good characters, a great moral. Also, the animation is not bad, actually is good for the standards.

This is a perfect sequel to the original novel. This movie deserves more. Collodi would be proud of this.

  • as a product of the 80's and an aspiring animator i'm ashamed i never heard or saw this movie before

  • lol. The Rankin/Bass claymation people made a cool version of this! XD Rock on!

  • I saw this one before I saw Disney's version. Like this one better.

  • OMG I LUV THIS MOVIE THX FOR UPLOADING U DA BEST *SQUEEZES WHILE HUGGING!*

  • omfg i thought i was going crazy! i knew this Pinocchio movie existed but none of my sisters or my bro remembered it! i thought i had made it up o_0 lol i'm glad i wasn't! thnx for posting!

  • Does anyone also remember another cool New World Pictures animated movie? called Warriors of the Wind, the 1985 American 87 minute butchered dubbed of Nausicaa Every 80's/early 90's child or 80's kid probably did.

  • @Johnlindsey289 You mean the butchered version of Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece, "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind"? LOL! I You never seen the original one, right? o.O

  • @RyougaLolakie I think that's what he meant.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I remember that version emphatically. The voice acting was much much better than the redubbing by Disney. However, yeah, it probably would have been better if the whole movie was shown. No editing. It's near impossible to find the 1985 version though. Makes me sad. We only have a bad VHS version. :(

  • OMG Trying o find this film on dvd, is soooo hard. this was the only pinocchio i'd ever seen!

  • @AdrieStarr It was never put onto a DVD for real but, with RealPlayer, you can put it onto a disk.

  • @shannibearstar

Where can I go to get this RealPlayer? Please please please tell me so I can burn it to a disc!! Thanks so much.

  • OMG Trying o find this film on dvd, is soooo hard. this was the only pinocchio i'd ever seen!

  • This teaches children valuable moral lessons. Much like the mid-range jump shot in basketball, animation that teaches children is becoming a lost art

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Haven't seen it since I was 7 or so. Brings back memories!

  • @TarahWolf

No problem Tarah, i see you grew up with this movie.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I have this movie. But today I'm going to watched it today. My mom father brought this movie for me. I know who plays the emperor Of The Night is ( Earl Lee Jones ). I really do love the songs in here. I hope so many people love the music in here as much as I do.

  • @TarahWolf I haven't seen it ever since I was 5!

  • Filmation genius!

  • OMG james earl jones

  • I agree that this is one of the most underrated films of all time. I think part of the reason why is that it wasn't a "Disney" movie. It's storyline went outside the confines of what Walt Disney did with his 1940 version and went much darker in tone. I think the storyline for the Emperor of the night, further showed Pinocchio's courage to sacirice himself for the ones he loved and it shouldn't have been brushed aside as a bad film, because of it's dark tone. It's still a great movie to look at.

  • OMG THE SCARIEST MOVIE IN THE WORLD!

  • @DanielRonaldooo I saw this when I was 2 and i still remember how scared I was

  • yea, this movie was hella freaky for a kid's cartoon.

  • @stanleycoleman It was the 80s. They allowed a lot more back then. Just watch "Transformers: The Movie," and you'll see what I mean.

  • @PeachWookiee

There was also The Black Caudrlon, The Secret of NIMH, The Last Unicorn etc. those were dark animated 80's family animated movies.

  • 2:39. When Grumblebee says "What the Dickens", his lips don't move.

  • PUT IT OUT ON DVD!!!!!!! WHATS TAKING SO LONG!!!

  • I have NOT seen this flick in nearly 23 years, holy cow!

  • @artgal80 So you must have seen it when it first came out.

  • Comment removed

  • James Earl Jones FTW

  • This film was released on Christmas Day 1987.

  • i had this

  • woww i fucking remember this movie .. i watched it as a kid n sooo forgot about it O.o scary shit yo

  • mommy i'm scared O.o pinocchio, you suck =(

  • the shot of the pole in front of the moon is incredible.

  • OMG!!! johnlindsey, thank you SO MUCH!!! ive been looking for this on youtube, on the internet, basically everywhere for the past couple of years and im so fucking happppy i finally found it! its not even on imdb.com! (and there are a million versions of pinocchio on there)...... had no recollection of the title, all i could remember from watching this 15 years ago was the freaky circus and all the puppet boys being on some kind of acid trip...... WOW..... amazing. THANK YOU!!!!

  • this totally brings me back to my childhood. the one scene where all the shit is going down used to creep the fuck outta me. sweet

  • i have this vhs somehwere too :D

  • for some reason this scene reminds me of the game CarnEvil

  • @crazydave217

Your right it does, i use to play that game when i was a teen in the late 90's.

  • Omg I havnt seen this movie since I was small, wow I love this movie especially the story. I can't believe I found it on YouTube lol it's such a great movie and its entertaining.

  • Animated film is NOT what it used to be. I love hand drawn film soooo much more than computer made stuff. Maybe it's a generation thing? (20 years old)

  • This was one warped film, but to its credit, the animation was fairly nice. I plan on doing a video review of this sooner or later.

  • NOTE: This movie can actually disturb some viewers. Some parts are a little scary, frekish, and just down right disturbing. BUT IT'S STILL ONE KICKASS FILM!

  • thanks a lot im 27 and I had this on VHS, brings back memories, especially the sounds and music

  • I forgot all about this movie! I used to love it. I recently found all my old favorite movies on youtube!

  • I guess this film hasn't ever had a DVD release.

  • This was the first ever VHS tape I ever had. I remember the packaging because you pressed the box and little lights would flash on and off.

This is a fantastic kids movie. I love how dark it is. There's a really trippy music number in the nightclub scene which I always loved.

The Emperor is voiced by Darth Vader (James Earl Jones) if I remember correctly.

The Emperors right hand man was scary (looks like The Joker) - the bit where he turns Pinnochio back into a puppet is terrifying for a kid.

  • hey you might want to put who made this movie and say you dont own it or it will be removed hurry

  • thanks for uploading this film, Friend. many many memories.. saw this movie when i was 10 yrs old... This film is way better than the Walt Disney Version.

  • As a little kid this didn't phase me one bit. As an adult (after yeeeaarrssss of not seeing it) this film CREEPS ME OUTTT!!! Why did I ever watch this????

  • I never seen this. I came across an old vhs tape of this@ the movie store for sale. I was born in 87 so I guess thts one reason, but I remember happily ever after. I remember the toys and the vhs they had @ wal-mart yrs yrsssssssss ago. Good times! ;)

  • I am wanting to find the worldvision version of pinocchio. I wish it was on youtube. I had the tape but got rid of all my vhs collection so

  • this movie was intense

but lets face it, as kids the films we remember the most are the shocking and intense ones, the ones that didn't talk down to us like TV does nowadays

  • i thought this movie was so scary when i was a kid

it still kinda freaks me out lol

    thanks for uploading it :)

  • Wow! thanks for this..im not really sure but i remember seeing this a looooong time ago, really amazing how time flies. Thanks for the post.

  • @ember1k

No problem man, how old are ye?

  • @Johnlindsey289 Just turned 26... i was feeling nostalgic.

  • @ember1k I vaguely rember seeing this when I was 3 years old at a United Artist Theater.

  • I vaguely remember thinking this movie was CRAZY when I was a kid.

  • This opening is a masterpiece. Thank you so much!

  • Man I forgot all about this film! man I miss it! T^T

  • I finally found out what this movie was called after like 18 yrs! D: .. thanks for uploading, you rock xD.

  • @MaleficusSadi

    No problem.

  • @Johnlindsey289 thank yu so muchh i loved this movie:))

  • @MaleficusSadi i agree

  • I loved Happily Ever After!!! lol

  • ahahhahaha, OMG youtube has all those no name animated movies I watched before lol. MAN! I remember this one.

  • YES! thanks for uploading this! I LOOOOOVED this movie when I was little. I just found a VHS copy @ goodwill but I don't have a VCR anymore :(

  • @sberrytara

Well get a VCR/DVD player combo since they are cheap for 60 bucks.

  • this is interesting to me becuase james earl jones is in it and becuase it sound wierd from what i read about it

  • @brickmaster24

You a fan of James Earl Jones? wait until you go to number 5 of this movie, it's the most disturbing and unpleasant scene in the movie.

  • i watched it was even scarier and more disturbing then what i read about it holy shit

  • @brickmaster24

When yo get to the part, you'll see some serious shit.

  • JAMES EARL JONES!!! W00T!!! :D

  • @SpazAlert004

Well he's the ultimate voice you know.

  • I still have this on video. Amazing movie!

  • Isn't it amazing the guys who did He-Man, Star Trek animated, She-Ra, Bravestar and others did this movie? and who think it is neat to see Filmation do something different in animation then just reusing posing and walk cycles like in their usual animations?

  • used to scare the

    shit outta me

  • Does anyone remember the Star Trek animated series? made by the same dudes who did this movie. I saw it back on Nick when i was 5 in 1986 and it got me into ST and M'ress is a fine alien beauty one of Filmation's hottest girls.

  • did this have a vhs box with a jewel on it, and when you pressed it , it played music? I had an old pinocchio video and it did just that.. I cant remember if this was it...

  • I loved this movie as a kid! I thought I'd never get to see it again, so thank you. The 'scariness' of it is what makes you remember it. And most kids like a good scare so I don't see what the big deal is. I think this story is more compelling than the Disney version.

  • Would you say the same for the other Filmation movie Happily Ever After being more compelling then Disney's version?

  • No, not at all. That movie was terrible. (though I did like it as a kid...) Disney's Pinocchio was much better animated obviosuly, but I found the filmation ingrained itself in my brain more.

  • But this still is better then the last Filmation movie Happily Ever After right? at least this one was done more with heart and effort including ambition.

  • @Johnlindsey289 I don't think so.. Happily Ever After, if anything, had way better voice acting than this movie. I mean, the stories for both movies are a little er..

  • As a kid I got this from Avon and loved it eversince

  • Thank you so much for posting this! I've missed this movie even though it creeps me out, haha. :)

  • I remember this from my childhood. Me think its sightly under rated. It was a bit horrifying for young views. Anybody care to comment on that.

  • @s00059166 Yes! It creeped me out when I watched it as a kid, but I still loved that movie. It was one of my favorites...

  • I totally agree.

  • Oh my God! THAT'S what this was called? I kept saying, there was a Pinocchio with a girl puppet, and nobody else remembered!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • You remembered this movie? awesome!

  • @ShiningLunae lol me to

  • I watched the whole movie but synching it up with Pink Floyd's "The Wall", starting the CD from 0:08...and wow, besides the album ending slightly too fast (but not so fast that you don't get what happens to the characters at the end after the big climax anyway), it...works... o.o

I'll watch this movie again the way it's supposed to but for a Filmation-produced project, the animation is stunning. I know, not perfect but...look at He-Man's animation and this is Studio Ghibli in comparison! X3

  • I've actually never seen this before but it looks pretty sweet so far. That is one badass looking carnival. ^^

James Earl Jones's voice is so cool. Nothing else like it.

  • Ah...Pinnochio and the emperor of the night...I remember stumbling across this on a cassette among my collection...such an excellently-planned movie...

  • this movie need a remake, with better animation and more creepy things

  • No way man, this movie is perfect the way it is.

  • meaby and just meaby

  • This film i remember as scary as hell. Going to see it now

  • Anyone thinks this movie is more like The Black Cauldron then Disney's Pinocchio? afterall both Cauldron and this movie are very dark 80's family cartoon flicks.

  • OMG I saw this in 95 when i was five i~

  • @kriskermit89 me too, and I was also 5 =] epic

I remember it had such an erie feeling to it, kinda scary and interesting

  • I didn't see this movie until I was around 9-10 years old, when I discovered a tape that my grandmother recorded for me, years back. Out of curiosity, I popped the cassette in. Though this part was left out of the video, I did get to see the rest, and what an experience it was! Not just for the classic 80s commercials or the "New World Presents" bumper, but for the many memorable scenes in this overlooked, underrated movie.

  • @ApacheMan2K

Your granny recorded it from TV or from the New World tape?

  • It was recorded from TV, around the holiday season.

  • Damm right!

  • I saw this in the theater when I was a kid =D

  • @ezmaralda777

So did i when i was 6 in 1987 and it scared the bejesus out of me.

  • I got this on VHS with swedish dub :D Its damn awesome!

  • i didnt know mufasa was in this, kidding, its darth vader

  • Holy shit, I loved this movie. Glad to have found it here - thanks! Didn't scare me a bit - I thought it was awesome. Might have been a recording, if I recall correctly. I hope I can find it in a store somewhere...

  • But do you think that scene where Puppetino turns Pinocchio into a puppet is disturbing as hell?

  • When I was younger, I didn't get the full implications, so it was like any other scene in a movie where the main character is in trouble.

    Now, though, it's like D: D: D8

  • Holy crap! I thought noone saw this movie. I used to watch this movie all the time and it scared the crap out of me especially the dancing part in the circus. My parents bought me this movie in the dollar store if I remember correctly. When I saw it I was like what the hell?? This isnt Pinocchio. Appearently I wasnt the only one scarred by this movie

  • @cjaygrove ..."This isnt Pinocchio"????? ...Read the book.

  • i had this when i was so young!

i'm glad i've found it again

  • Damn, I had this movie ever since I was a kid and I wanted to put it on youtube but you beat me to it. lol (;

  • Well that's ok, i had this since 2007 here and it's one of the most popular movies on here.

  • I remember this as a kid, watched it all the time and it just occurred to me about this movie, and here it is! Wow, time flies!

  • Wow...it's amazing what you'll find on Youtube. I thought this was beyond obscure and HERE IT IS lol Thanks for the upload.

  • That's because this movie is a cult favorite even among kids of the 80's.

  • Nice to see an old favorite after so long ago. thanks for putting this up!

Scary moments, catchy music, seems like yesterday. 80's film cartoons were something huh?

  • What do you expect? movies like this, Black Cauldron, The Last Unicorn, Secret of NIMH and others back then were cartoon movies with balls and darkness.

  • @Johnlindsey289 very true! i miss movies like this. if you think about it. the moral or messages were pretty cut and dry back then like this one. they hit the right notes, where todays stuff, it's lost somewhere in the crap.

  • This movie scared me SO badly when I was a little kid. I lost sleep from this movie lol. Even so, I watched it all the time. I loved being scared from this movie :)

  • I believe this is a great movie in it's own right and just as good as Disney's version, i do love both.

  • This is a billiant film this would be a sequal to the orginal Disney One in a way.

  • @hypersaiyangoku

I agree since i think it's a perfect follow-up and just as dark only difference is the puppet torture transformation scene goes for the jugular.

  • Aaaahh.. i've lookingfor this movies since i dunno how long.. there are thousand of versions of pinocchio:s

  • I used to have nightmares from watching this! xD

  • Would it be freaking awesome if this movie ever got dubbed into Japanese?

  • This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid!

  • @sachicoon Dude this movie fucked with my head and gave me really disturbing nightmares.. fuck this movie..

  • I have this on video and its actually my favorite film of all time. Sadly I stood on the video luckily this is on youtube.

  • Well it's on DVD in your country for a cheap price.

  • wow, i haven't seen this since i was very little.

i remember there was a another Pinocchio movie but in outer space with that turtle character

  • this film was very creepy when I was a kid, I still dont get how it got passed off as a PG rating.

  • Well it's rated G here in the U.S. but it never got the PG rated, it's quite dark.

  • I still remember this movie! A bit creepy at some points, but it's still awesome.

  • Was the voice of Pinocchio in American Dad?

  • Yup, that's him Scott Grimes who also starred in Band of Brothers and was Brad Brown in Critters 1 & 2.

  • My boyhood faves in the 80's were The Dark Crystal, Howard The Duck, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Secret of NIMH, The Last Unicorn, Superman 1 & 2, Disney's Pinocchio and more. It was a great time of growing up!

  • I loved this movie alot when i was young. I have the ORIGINAL movie somewhere in my other room. :) Im so happy i get to watch it again...

  • i loved this when i was younger. brings back memories. i recently bought it on ebay. in my opinion it's up there with labyrinth as the best kids films i have ever watched

  • Did anyone get the Blu-Ray or new DVD of Disney's Pinocchio? it's an awesome Blu-Ray with great picture and sound with cool extras. It was my favorite disney movie when i was a little boy back in the 80's when i was 3 in 1985 then i was excited about "Emperor of the Night" when i was 5 in 1987 in theaters, in fact my mother took me to see it in a St. Louis mall cause i was living there at the time and man this scared me more then Disney's version even though the Coachman's face turning devlish

  • i was freaked out as a kid when i saw this movie, but utimately fascinated!! i still love this movie very much, is a great twisted to a clasical XD

  • James Earl Jones makes this movie scarier and awesomer! I was like where have I heard THAT voice before

  • wow. until this day I have not seen hide nor hair of the movie. wow. it has been uncovered from the vault.

  • saw this as a kid but i thought it was pretty weird and a bit scary lol

  • I'm glad this was put on You Tube for others to enjoy. I was lucky enough to stumble across a VHS copy for sale in a rental store a few years back.

  • No problemo dude, that's awesome you saw this movie along time ago. Preety dark and interesting animated feature eh? do you think the voice casting is perfect like James Earl Jones? and do you think that part with Puppetino turning Pinocchio into a puppet is horrifying as hell?
