  • I wish the would add this game to the PSN store, or XBOX marketplace... *sigh*

  • Soul Edge's ending was my most favorite. Simple, yet very interesting. As a child, it made me think, what if there was really a cursed sword that was buried deep in the ocean! Aw man, good times, good times...

  • Wow. Just wow. In other news, I miss the guy that was replaced by Yunsung(spelling?) in later games

  • KING K WUZ HERE 2011

  • the OST of this game kickass. The first time i listened this song was like "WOA WTF"

  • DOMON.

    MASTER.

    Oh wait

  • soul blade, a PS1 game that unlike others from its generation, has STOOD THE TEST OF TIME! One of the GREATEST fighting games ever created. the weapon detection in this game is beyond even the soul calibur sequels and is still unmatched.a Must have title that will play on your PS3. GET IT NOW!

  • my god this is AWESOME! It really plays with chords and instruments, making the thing so interesting! *~*

  • I've never played the game.. but I must admit, I find this sound track amazing.

Like so many he's posted.. current fave is #9 (Tribes 2 Desert Theme). Tribes 2 - one of my all time favorite FPS games.

  • epic musiccccccccccccccccc , the best song of the videogames .

  • I had this on a different screen and wasn't aware the video before it was on autoplay, and when this came on, I thought it was a song from any of the older Gundam series, haha. Still, sounds great, and I kick myself for not appreciating the soundtrack back then how I would now.

  • Why can't things get better with age instead of the other way around?

  • @Coldmilk51312 coldmilk...if iwas a girl i would b lesbian for you ......

  • I had a choice of Tomb Raider or this. Guess what I chose? Mitsurugi on the cover was all it took. They put their 'soul' into this music. I can't stand the new games. They feel like soulless tech demos.

  • i've never played this but i've played soul calibour both have good music

  • This is awesome. I kinda don't like those new Tekken like techno soundtracks...

  • On the Playstation version of "Soul Edge" (original Japanese version), each character had three musical themes, the original arcade music, an arranged version of the arcade music and a Khan Super Session track which you can hear in this video, "A Continental Gale" was Rock's theme.

Most of the Khan Super Session tracks were done by live performing musicians, hence the great sounding quality.

  • 3 dislikes is 3 too many. I'll never understand some people.

  • @Ziegus

Seriously. They don't make music for games like the used to...

  • @Ziegus

and who cares for fucking metadates?! thats what i dont understand. however, that tube gets wat it wants. comments.

  • This is really, really good.

  • The best Soul Edge saga soundtrack (Khan Super Session).

  • i didn't like playing Rock, but I loved his storyline. 1997 was an impossibly good year for videogames.

  • @AnoukaKC Yeah 1995-2000 was a golden age for all platforms.. I feel a new one coming on, the wheel is about to be on its way up.

  • The new Soul Calibur's have become increasingly g@y with each release, especially Soul Calibur 3, with the insane voice comments and all the pink and lila colors in the backdrops and costumes.

The DreamCast version was very cool though, and has aged really well. It looks fantastic even today.

Still, no Soul Calibur can beat the Playstation original, which had fast, responsive controls and superior sound effects and music.

  • Bahahah SOUL EDGE!

One of the best Weapon Based Fighting Game ever made!

I'm not saying the latest Soul Caliber are bad, just not even close to what the original Soul Edge was.

  • omg this is just so epic and grand :)

  • Orchestra with rock mixed in is the epitome of epic

  • I preferred Recollect Continent for Rock's stage, but this one is also pretty sweet.

  • This song is so dramatic! I love it, of course. 5/5!

  • 0:56

  • The transition at 0:57, straight outta left-field, but yet oh so good!

  • seasons beatings 2 mvc2 ohio soundtrack jeje

  • It's from the Kahn Super Session Soundtrack only included in PlayStation version of Soul Edge/Blade. (all territories).

    Epic awensome soundtrack!

  • not sure if this is Rock's Theme from Soul Edge....

or is this from the JPN version?

  • This was from Soul Blade. They had three different kinds of music (Original, Arranged, Khan Super Session). This was Rock's Khan Super Session song.

  • In the list NEED to stay the opening of soul edge. By far the most exciting opening in a fighting game.

  • wow

  • I'd like to see a re-release of this on PSN or Xbox Live, but if they're going to make some changes, PLEASE don't remove the tripping, stomping and three hit combo moves like they did from SoulCalibur and beyond!

  • Impending Doom...

  • I'm on #27 now, remind me. lol

Very good so far. ^^ 5 stars for everything. :P

  • 2:38-3:08 Best part ever.

  • This was and is the best game of all four. And I mean it.

  • Agreed.

I was able to find a used copy (Japanese version) on Play-Asia and had a blast playing it.

  • Oh yes. Far beyond the other, more lacking and americanized games that followed suit.

Taki was by far my fav ^^

  • true ^___^, but u mean 5?

  • @Bodisamba Bullshit. Soul Calibur is easily the best of all five.

  • Hmmm, isn't Rock's theme Recollect continent? Or does he have two?

  • He had 2 this one and the one you mentioned.

  • Love the bells.

  • very epic!

  • gorgeous music.

  • Why can't Namco make soundtracks like this anymore? I don't get it! Have they gotten lazy or just don't care? It's pathetic that ten years ago they made better fighting soundtracks than they do now.

  • has anyone played Tales of symphonia, or baten kaitos because those especially baten kaitos 1 had awesome music

  • Yeah, I just beat Tales of Symphonia. The Desian boss music was great.

  • yah it was,and you just beat it?lol number 2 is coming out in 2 weeks

  • Yeah, I lent my GameCube to a friend and didn't see it for about 18 months. I'm making up the time now. Hopefully another buddy will let me mooch off his system so I can play the next one. Not current gen yet myself

  • oh, well symphonia 2 is multiplayer if you didnt no, so just play it WITH a friend if you cant mooch a system/ renting always works but kinda a waste of money

  • I totally agree with you! Me personally, I can so picture this battle theme for an "Rpg like Tales,Grandia and Eternal Sonata". Even though, Grandia is not by Namco, It will still fit for those 3 games. Once again great ost! The "Kahan-Super-Session" was always my fav ost of mine to play the game on especially this track.

  • "Doubtful Judgement" from the fight with Souledge on the Super Khan Session was a favorite of mine. I don't know why I sold this game.

  • I still own it.

  • because they fired the original namco sound team.....if you listen to some of the music in the earlier games up to tekken 2 that was the bese music in any of their games now because of that sound team.....all of the sudden when tekken 3 came out they had a different sound team.....no one knows why but think namco got jealous that the sound team was getting more recognition for the games because of their music and namco let them because of it...just a theory

  • Wow, if that's true. That's weak sauce.

  • Damn they fired the original sound team? That hella sucks, I wondered why the latter PS Namco games just stoped using real instruments and went for crappy repetive techno. Ace combat 2 also had some great tracks. Instruments will always sound better than computer synthsizers in my oppinion.

  • agreed....but i think namco caught on and kept most of the music like this for soul caliber....tekken was totally changed up...bt at least its not crappy techno....and some of the newer tekken games have went back to the way the music used to be like...and thats pretty awesome....you know the same think happen in capcom...bt it wasnt the sound team,,,it was a whole damn sub company

  • Are you sure thats true, it just sounds a little shallow. I always knew the musical composition was watered down after the age of tekken 2 and soul blade, but if namco fired the sound team thats where they lost a sale. Soul Calibur 3 was a major disappointment for me in terms of music and game play.

  • yes it does sound shallow...and i did mention they fired the namco sound team...but i also mentioned that me next part was a theory at the end of my first comment....but im not holding it past them if they did it or not because of it has happend before....Capcom like i mention fired their sub company clover studios for undisclosed reason...and they were pumping out alot of hits...and ppl think the same think that may of happened to the NST may of happen to clover studios

  • well, with developers like Team Ninja disbanding the lead member of the team for ambiguous reasons, it gives one a sore impression on the battle ground that is the video game industry.

  • Ambiguous reasons? Itagaki was a total dick!

  • Perhaps, but with the way things usually go with human relationships theres no way of discovering the truth unless you either knew him personally or knew someone who knew him. Its not uncommon for people to exaggerate an issue if it appeals to their interests. Maybe he was a dick, but we would still be basing it on second hand info.

  • as well as SC 4, more of a disappointment than 3.

  • and i really dnt think SC3 was bad at all...music wise or gameplay wise....SC4 should of came out in at least another yr before they came out with it because to me it just seem it was still in the concept stage....at least with SC3 all of their ideas were fully developed and the gameplay was pretty solid...tales of the souls was also enjoyable for me....if anything SC4 would seem like the worst out of the series

  • maybe I was too quick to discredit SC3. It was a good fighting game but not as solid as it could have been. the major draw for me was the create a character mode but beyond that innovation was lacking. The music added a little content to the fights but nothing memorable. It was like namco was trying too hard to make a sale and neglected the beauty and substance of the original game. Just my opinion. admittedly when it first came out I was pretty excited until the newness wore off.

  • I was also discovering DOA 3 and DOA Ultimate at the time, thus I was probably spoiled by its smooth, fast paced and brutal game play. :)

  • that game could not spoil me.....after i played it...it was ok but to weird....and they gave some characters more priority than others and i ddnt like that...i like virtua fighter better...i almost got spoiled by that game....then i started to play street fighter and king of fighters religiously again..lol

  • There were some balance issues in DOA series, even in the latest installment. certain characters have a ridiculous advantage. I overlooked it though, because it doesn't make them unbeatable, its just something you have to be mindful of when versing them. DOA 4 online would have been a lot better if it had more content. SC4 was a major online disappointment for me. The game play speed has been knocked down a peg or three, making it less responsive than DOA4. :(

  • I have a tone of respect for anyone who can master just one character in Virtua Fighter; its depth is staggering.

  • im in the process of doing so but i must say that it is hands down one of the hardest things i ever tried to do....i have a lot of experience under my belt when it come to fighting games...and Virtua Fighter is a challenge...i have wolf down for sure but it wasnt easy at all man

  • @RetroVGamer What do you mean? SC 2 and 3 have a really nice OST

  • Definitely one of the better BGMs on Soulblade and the best from the KSS.

  • Great music, great game. Love it.

  • Call me a heretic, but I wasn't that fond of the Khan Super Session tracks... I like the orchestral originals, particularly Cervantes' stage music.

  • You lucky bastard, I loved all of them, the arranged, Classic and Khan, I hate myself because because I can't choose one version, hands down no matter what version, Soul Blade or Soul Edge as it has been named is by far the best VGM collection ever. Not sure how G4 missed this one over some crummy Final Fantasy sleeping trips or how parapa the rappa was even considered good?

  • HERETIC!

  • it was always a struggle for me to decide sometimes. I think in the end I choose the KSS anyway. xD

  • exeletn song i fanatic this game and your secuels :P (soul calubur)

  • This and soul caliber 1 soundtrack, are some of the best ever recorded! Why Namco did not try to make an rpg out of this series is something that perplexes me to this day.

  • Man, I use to listen to this song all the time, it's so dramatic <@_@)

  • Movie quality music.Great theme.

  • Great song but the best music in fighting games comes from Capcom hands down.

  • Guilty Gear can challenge that claim.

  • yea i gotta say GG takes the music stakes

  • Best theme in the game.

  • This song is made of EPIC and WIN. EPIC WIN!!

  • This sounds so emotional!

  • Soul Calibur 4 coming up. Know your roots =)

  • They should bring back some of the BGMs from SB to SC4, namely this one and A desperate struggle

  • Indeed

    THE UNDYING NIGHTMARE

Original name for Nightmare from Soul Edge

    SIEGFIEND!

  • Jeez... back then they really put their efforts into the music. Best soundtrack for a fighting game EVAR!!
