  • Reagan cried over the 1986 shuttle explosion. Both Clintons have been seen crying in public. Even the faux tough guy Dubya cried in public. Now Gingrich. Maybe no one, except Ted Kennedy if he'd gotten a different driver in '69, could have beaten Nixon in '72, but let's be honest, Muskie deserved better -- before AND after this moment.

  • Today he'd be applauded, not ridiculed, for such a display. He did the right thing, standing by and defending his wife, and I'd have done the same damn thing, regardless of the consequences.
