  • this would be cool with fire crackers

  • I'm going to build the same thing as on the website but twice as large so it fits my class project criteria, so when I do that do I double all the measurements including width and weight and everything?

  • how long was the base, length width, and height?

  • how far did it go and how long was the base?

  • need a 150 kg weight

  • Cool but lame

  • yes but will it blend

  • Yeah, but who reeeeeeaaaaaally made it? Class projects are for students, not parents!

  • Awww... that's SO cute... a mini trebuchet. Has she ever tried lighting a projectile on fire at night and then firing it off? Those look SO cool.

of course, fire extinguisher on hand or water is always good. My Auntie and Uncle used to let me fire arrows at a high arc with a flaming ball of wool or other flammable material at the end. I always enjoyed watching them sail great distances. It did help to have my older cousins on quads with water buckets to put them out very soon afterwards.

  • @ everyone saying they have to build one.. lol you are all lucky i wish i could use school as an excuse to build a trebuchet.

  • what a ho

  • i made one in my engineering class all the other kids fired like this....

i got extra credit for taking my weight home and filling it with 60Lb of concrete

mine would easily shoot over your house and into the neighbors backyard.

  • child would be better not turn the spears and rocks trebuchet wing house

  • i can jizz farther than that shoots

  • yey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10 feet

  • now i can play with w/ my dog the medieval way

  • u play with that dog hard

  • 0:49 "remember, don't twist up those strings"

  • how far does it shoot?

  • shit it shit

  • Cool toy.

  • that helped so much

i didnt no how to hook it up on the end

  • now put it on your roof and shoot it at birds and tye fighters

  • girl, you got a cooldad

  • How much weight do you have in the counterweight?

  • looks like the counterweight is a little close to the fulcrum. other then that it is a nice build

  • What did You use for the sling I used duct tape is that good plz reply

  • M y grandpa and i made a trebuchet catapult but its bigger when stands in full up its like 5"4 and loaded like 3"8 it shoots really good but before that it didn't but thanks to u guys for the site where u got the idea it works even better u ROCK

  • did you guys use normal string ? im building one right now for a warfare course project and i need help XD

  • did it ever occur to you to fire it away from the house

  • @Blackops240 Its a soft ball.

  • the counterweight is both hinged and propped - max efficiency!

  • I am also doing a trebuchet for a school project and I am using the same model you used to create this trebuchet. Can you please tell me what did the whole thing weight and how heavy was the counterweight basket and how heavy was the mess in the basket. Also, How far did it reach? It'd be great if you can give me the information. Thanks.

  • that's awesome!

  • Hey, does anyone know if there is a formula on how long the throwing arm is supposed to be compared to its base. Plz, I have a science project.

  • Hey, I like that type of Trebuchet..... where did you get your plans?

could you let me know? Yours worked really smooth.... and quite..

    Ghq113

  • lol i ganna make one only biggher and im ganna sit in ther

  • could you tell me how you built it and what materials i would need if i were to make the same thing, wondering if you could help me with a school project.

  • not bad how far did it go?

  • cut your grass:))

  • thank you so much.(:

my i ask how far this launches the objects?

mine needs to launche them about 6 feet or farther.

    please reply back?

  • i also made a trebuchet like this one. maybe i am going to post a video of it.

  • how far did that go because i need to also build a trebuchet except it needs to go very far.

  • nice

  • hey great trebuchet im building one for extra credit in history but i need help on the dimensions plz reply back thxx

  • There's a link in the description where I got the idea from.

  • @Welles22r omg rian!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha what a coindence!!!!!!!!! hahahahahhahaha

  • go check out the human trebuchet, its nuts

  • it's so that the counter weight is always pointing down giving it maximum velocity

  • plz tell why the conter wieght is suspended ?? why its not fixed to the end of the arm..

  • i wish i knew how to build a trebuchet similar to this! its required for my final, if anyone can help me at all please let me know!

  • There's a link in the description for plans to build a small trebuchet.

  • This kid hit a window with a golf ball.

  • @GWEEPON No she didnt she hit the stupid wood fence thing watch the golf ball

  • loose change is the best kind of counter-weight

  • Thank you for posting! You answered all my questions

  • I have to build a trebuchet similar to this, so may I ask how far this could shoot?

  • your daughter is well disciplined and a good crafts women

  • ROFL

  • goooooooooooooooood

  • This is idiocy. Go find something important to comment on, like a problem based on some modicum of reality.

  • perv.....

  • am i the only one who catches a pedophile vibe from this guy?

  • Nope, in fact before i read ur comment i thought i was the only one, lol. "Yeah, so one of my karate students got to make a trebuchet for school, so yeah, i offered to help." lol, weeeeird

  • Are all teachers who help their students considered pedophiles now? You can see the girl's mother standing in the background. It was the mother who asked me to help out.

It takes a pretty sick and twisted excuse for a human being to think of some shit like that. Who's the pedo? You sick fucks brought up the subject.

Instead of posting disgusting comments, why don't you come to my dojo in Denver where I will teach you some respect. That will be after I break your face of course.

  • I only brought up the subject because it's weird for a karate teacher to help one of his students with a school project. I'm curious to how you were even able to become involved with her school project.

Having a karate teacher help with a school project is like having a construction worker perform an appendectomy

  • Fair enough. I became involved because the mother asked me too. The mother who also happens to be my training partner and friend, was well aware of other things that I enjoyed doing, like building stuff, so she asked if I would help.

I have a good friendship with many of the adults at the martial arts studio. Because of that I am often asked to help out or invited over for dinner etc. I will always help out a friend when asked.

  • Furthermore, in martial arts training for kids, as instructors we try to keep tight integration between school and martial arts. Martial arts is an excellent teacher of discipline for youth who may need it beyond what they get at school or home. Good behavior and hard work in school are also a mandatory requirement for rank progression in martial arts. It is very common for instructors to be aware of their student's behaviors in school and help out if needed.

  • ok I guess i owe you an apology, considering that you have a friendship with the girl's mother, it doesn't make it too creepy, I'm sorry

  • As qmcandrew said, since I am an instructor who teaches youth and adults to defend against pedophiles, abusers and bullies, you can understand why I got upset when you labeled me as one of those type of people. The worst kind. To me there is no lesser form of scum on the planet than a child molester.

Thank you for apologizing. Perhaps my description leaves things a little vague and could use some rewording. It just never crossed my mind that helping someone out could be taken so differently.

  • oh sweet! i have to do a fricken trebuchet at school, so i have no idea how to do it, this is helpful!!

    thanks!

  • That is pretty good.

  • Thanks for the technical details. I need to build one in my garden.

  • cool thats good

  • You've got a very good design. If you scaled it up a bit I bet it could throw further than most I've seen.

  • What did you use for weights on it?

  • do you know how many cubic feet this was?

  • What do you mean cubic feet? Dimensions?

  • Very nice video. And your catapult is awsome, I'm going to try to make one.

  • hey can you tell me how to make one just like that like the wood and sizes and stuff thanks

  • Link in the description for a tutorial to build one.

  • Nice job on showing the details of the trigger and sling mechanism- very well though out too!

  • Thanks!

  • Smash class windows with that thing :p

  • I know, wish I could see her present it.

  • sweet, you can wage war on your neighbors now.

  • Hahaha! Ya, would be cool to fire off a row of like 10 of these things.

  • very creative i wonna see mac vs pc episode 2

  • Man that thing owned in AOE 2 :)

  • Friggin agreed! I loved having a few of these lined up, lol.

  • Ah, the trebuchet... such a great medieval war machine. I remember building on for my AP Physics class... actually hit our teacher with it right in the back of the head with a snow ball... good times.

  • Hahaha! Nice.

  • Thanks for all your help. We're going to shoot it off our top deck onto the greenbelt today! She got the neighborhood boys to come over last night to check it out. Squirrel launcher next. . .

  • Anytime, it was fun.

Squirrel launcher! hahaha. I'm going to start that right now.

  • This is so nice. I do love the catapaults, especially when they're flinging flaming cars and whatnot. I have seen a full sized trebuchet somewhere above Grand Lake, and I will find it again. Your karate student is very astute and very probably a handful to teach.

  • Ooooo! I'm building a flaming car launcher sized trebuchet next!

  • Sweet! I know where you can get a car that's not being used.

  • Awesome, send it along! I have actually done quite a bit of research on siege engines in the past and the trebuchet was the most accurate and devastating catapult. Very cool stuff.

  • That is totally sweet, I have gone and bookmarked this site, expect one of these from me in a few weeks, except much bigger more than likely, also, this helps me understand how to model on in 3D, thanks.

  • Cool man, send me the video link when you are finished. This was very fun to build.

  • A guy in my Maya Dynamics & Simulations class modeled a trebuchet in 3D and linked everything together with dynamics and it actually works. He didn't keyframe anything, just hit play and let the simulation run and it fired. It was very cool.
