I heard this song on the radio in a gift shop today. When I got home, I had to go look it up. The bass line/bass's mix placement and synth sound in this song remind me of Sting's "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You." =) I LOVE when songs remind me of other songs without ripping them off. There is such an art to association!
@buryedalive I saw that too. In addition to to listening to this song because it's cool, sometimes I'll read the comments to see what people's "thoughts on God" are. I would classify myself as a henotheist.
Just got done watching Empire Records and had to look this up. I'm 28 now, but I sure do remember the 90s with much fond nostalgia. @founditnow54,years of spiritual confusion I found peace in the knowing that"WE"are God, manifested in physical form, I learned in grade school, EVERTHING is made up of Atoms moving at different frequencies,I will come to move at a higher frequency and exist in pure bliss as intelligent energy one with all, It's all just a fk'n matrix,HA! I will know in that Bliss only love and oneness with you,If your interest is peaked I have some simple reading that may rock the norm that we are all seperate.
@studmeow Where is this stated at all? Almost all accounts of God state God transcends gender. Written documents just use "He" because there isn't an appropriate word.
@MrJolla11 Just because these rednecks think 'In the beginning was the King James Version' doesn't mean you have to take it at face value. You seem to have discerned quite well that God is an entity that transcends known reality. The idea of God as a man suits the view of sexist narrow-minded rednecks: 'No WOMAN'S gonna tell me what to do!' Have you met any female atheists? No surprise there: since 'God is a man' this feeds their view of the world.
@MrJolla11 Some ancient pagan temples when viewed from the air, were constructed to have the basic appearance of female genitalia. Representing the 'Divine Mother'.
Man i love this music. I am 12, but I HATE most of the stupid music these days. I love dishwalla, evanescence, linkin park, red hot chili peppers, etc. Rock mostly. no pop. I hate that most kids are music sheep and listen to what every one else is instead of picking what they really like. What is the world going to be like when this generation takes over in government?
@hippytreeloverperson the world is fucked when your generation takes over. I hope I am dead by then. But Im glad there are still a few of you that have some damn sense.
@Agpgtetetgp Speak for yourself... there is nothing about th2 2000 era of music that is memorable except the bands still making music from the 90s who were actually good and played what you may not have heard of before..... they played guitar solos.
Power chords and hack musicians killed real music..
@felicia8086 Ya know i'm 41 years old and in all my years of living I have never heard so many people say that they hate todays music. It's not just said by people my age but by younger people like you. So this is not just a generational thing it is true .Today's music does suck worse than any other decade in which I have lived. I too am a major 90s music fan and I think it was the last great decade for rock.
@lob287 Im 17 so I understand what you mean by there being no generational thing with this music, but i REFUSE to believe this was the last great decade of rock. As long as people my age don't like the popular music of the age there will always be people trying to bring their type of music back. There will always be bands somewhere who want to change today's music, and eventually one of them will do it. Just like the punk movement in the 70's and grunge in the 80's-90's... good music will return
@lob287 and ur right I agree with you and felicia. This to me was the last of the best of rock/grunge. I was about 14 when this song came out. I have always been in love with rock and the guy is hot too who sings lol he also have talent but I just dont c it anymore people with true pure talent nobody tells stories or sing about love, freedom and righteousness it just sucks!!!!
@lob287 im 27 but my father who is 53 taught me what good music is. ant from the papas and mamas till nine inch nails music has died after that. wtf is justin beaver? grunge and old rock n roll is the great music of this world. everything else is just a waste of time.
@lob287 ..... LOL yea, I'm 43. "A major 90's fan".. maybe because ya miss being a young 20 sumthing y.o. at the time. Missing those days myself.. definately better days back then compared to the present....WTF happened ? THIS AINT RIGHT
@lob287 I too am 41 and grew up listening to top 40 from birth till 89, took a break and followed The Grateful Dead 89-92 and listening to jam bands in college and got back to the 90s music in 93 when I graduated college and moved to Atlanta,GA and started listening to 99x their alt rock station..I was a very close minded person music wise from those years till I started listening to PJ,STP,Soundgarden,Alice In Chains, and Nirvana>other bands ... Widespread Panic still rocks to this day..HAAAA
@lob287 The death of rock n' roll came at the hands of it's own fans. When people began stealing music it was the beginning of the end. Film will be next to go.
@lob287 The reason for this is that there are many more places for you to hear criticisms of the current music. The internet wasn't the same as it is now. Believe me, you would have heard the same thing in the 90's with all the terrible boy bands and bad rap and crap like this (*Dishwalla). The 2000's were great for rock, and right now is just as good.
@lob287 How so? The 90's had some good stuff, but they had boatloads and dumploads and all kinds of loads of shit. Right now, I can go to a million music blogs and forums and comment sections and whine and complain about todays music. Don't you think there were 40 year olds in the 90's complaining that the 80's was the last era to truly rock that were just like you? You might be a bit naive if you think you are the first 40 year old to lose touch with what is cool with the youth.
@tsferg i am sure there were but i know people in there 60s that like music from the 90s. the 90s music not all but many of it has some actual meaning to it. music from today has no meaning but to be ignorant to ones self and others. and i am not 40 i am 21.
@mitchell6811 To say music from the 90s had meaning and todays music does not have meaning is a very rediculous blanket statement that is totally untrue and quite silly. there is some music that can be described as you said it, but the same can be said for 90s music
@tsferg what i mean is a majority of the main stream music today is like this. Yes there are songs from the 90s that were as well. Main stream music from today is entirely like this how ever. Very few songs today talk about anything other then how to be a self centered person. Everything is about money, cars etc...
@mitchell6811 - That's a broad generalization. If you were more thoughtful and selective regarding your musical choices, you would find what you're looking for. Read what you have written... "a majority of the mainstream music today is like this", and "Everything is about money, cars, etc...". You make very broad brush strokes, painting the music of today as shallow. Trust me, you could have found shallow music back in the mid 90s, or any other era, for that matter.
@lob287 When I was a teenager in the 90's so many people said "today's music sucks, 80's music is so fun!" It will happen next decade and every decade after that.
@felicia8086 Every older generation says they hate the younger generations music and the younger generation just says "Crazy old person. Your opinions don't matter." It's a vicious cycle.
@felicia8086 dude music is still good this era, you just need to look beyond the poppy bullshit of this era which yes is indeed crap and depressing, but music hasn't died. there are still plenty of great albums coming out.
My dad started singing the chorus of this song "tell me all your thoughts on God id really like to meet her" right before he shot himself. guess thats some good last words.....

@founditnow54 Then why do we call God our Heavenly Father?
silverkamba 2 months ago
@founditnow54,years of spiritual confusion I found peace in the knowing that"WE"are God, manifested in physical form, I learned in grade school, EVERTHING is made up of Atoms moving at different frequencies,I will come to move at a higher frequency and exist in pure bliss as intelligent energy one with all, It's all just a fk'n matrix,HA! I will know in that Bliss only love and oneness with you,If your interest is peaked I have some simple reading that may rock the norm that we are all seperate.
paintedragonfly 1 month ago
@founditnow54 Well, the word is that 'He' _was_ a woman before men took over & started rewriting history.
studmeow 1 month ago
@studmeow Where is this stated at all? Almost all accounts of God state God transcends gender. Written documents just use "He" because there isn't an appropriate word.
MrJolla11 1 month ago
@MrJolla11 Just because these rednecks think 'In the beginning was the King James Version' doesn't mean you have to take it at face value. You seem to have discerned quite well that God is an entity that transcends known reality. The idea of God as a man suits the view of sexist narrow-minded rednecks: 'No WOMAN'S gonna tell me what to do!' Have you met any female atheists? No surprise there: since 'God is a man' this feeds their view of the world.
studmeow 1 month ago
@MrJolla11 Some ancient pagan temples when viewed from the air, were constructed to have the basic appearance of female genitalia. Representing the 'Divine Mother'.

@MrJolla11 I think god is hermaphroditic :D

So many nostalgic people here. We'll miss the 2000's as well.
Agpgtetetgp 3 months ago
@Agpgtetetgp Speak for yourself... there is nothing about th2 2000 era of music that is memorable except the bands still making music from the 90s who were actually good and played what you may not have heard of before..... they played guitar solos.
Power chords and hack musicians killed real music..

MAN I JUST LOVE THE 90S ERA...so WHAT IF IM 24..i hate music in this era...
felicia8086 3 months ago 47
@felicia8086 Ya know i'm 41 years old and in all my years of living I have never heard so many people say that they hate todays music. It's not just said by people my age but by younger people like you. So this is not just a generational thing it is true .Today's music does suck worse than any other decade in which I have lived. I too am a major 90s music fan and I think it was the last great decade for rock.
lob287 3 months ago 34
@lob287 Im 17 so I understand what you mean by there being no generational thing with this music, but i REFUSE to believe this was the last great decade of rock. As long as people my age don't like the popular music of the age there will always be people trying to bring their type of music back. There will always be bands somewhere who want to change today's music, and eventually one of them will do it. Just like the punk movement in the 70's and grunge in the 80's-90's... good music will return
IAmDaAdVaImS 3 months ago 6
@lob287 and ur right I agree with you and felicia. This to me was the last of the best of rock/grunge. I was about 14 when this song came out. I have always been in love with rock and the guy is hot too who sings lol he also have talent but I just dont c it anymore people with true pure talent nobody tells stories or sing about love, freedom and righteousness it just sucks!!!!

@lob287 im 27 but my father who is 53 taught me what good music is. ant from the papas and mamas till nine inch nails music has died after that. wtf is justin beaver? grunge and old rock n roll is the great music of this world. everything else is just a waste of time.
dean31384 2 months ago
@lob287 ..... LOL yea, I'm 43. "A major 90's fan".. maybe because ya miss being a young 20 sumthing y.o. at the time. Missing those days myself.. definately better days back then compared to the present....WTF happened ? THIS AINT RIGHT
khabx6 2 months ago
@lob287 I too am 41 and grew up listening to top 40 from birth till 89, took a break and followed The Grateful Dead 89-92 and listening to jam bands in college and got back to the 90s music in 93 when I graduated college and moved to Atlanta,GA and started listening to 99x their alt rock station..I was a very close minded person music wise from those years till I started listening to PJ,STP,Soundgarden,Alice In Chains, and Nirvana>other bands ... Widespread Panic still rocks to this day..HAAAA
MrPardo3 2 months ago
@lob287 The death of rock n' roll came at the hands of it's own fans. When people began stealing music it was the beginning of the end. Film will be next to go.
dualityofman999 2 months ago
@dualityofman999 When did it die?
tsferg 2 months ago
@lob287 The reason for this is that there are many more places for you to hear criticisms of the current music. The internet wasn't the same as it is now. Believe me, you would have heard the same thing in the 90's with all the terrible boy bands and bad rap and crap like this (*Dishwalla). The 2000's were great for rock, and right now is just as good.
tsferg 2 months ago
@tsferg Seriously that is just a load of shit
lob287 2 months ago
@lob287 How so? The 90's had some good stuff, but they had boatloads and dumploads and all kinds of loads of shit. Right now, I can go to a million music blogs and forums and comment sections and whine and complain about todays music. Don't you think there were 40 year olds in the 90's complaining that the 80's was the last era to truly rock that were just like you? You might be a bit naive if you think you are the first 40 year old to lose touch with what is cool with the youth.
tsferg 2 months ago
@tsferg i am sure there were but i know people in there 60s that like music from the 90s. the 90s music not all but many of it has some actual meaning to it. music from today has no meaning but to be ignorant to ones self and others. and i am not 40 i am 21.
mitchell6811 2 months ago
@mitchell6811 To say music from the 90s had meaning and todays music does not have meaning is a very rediculous blanket statement that is totally untrue and quite silly. there is some music that can be described as you said it, but the same can be said for 90s music
tsferg 2 months ago
@tsferg what i mean is a majority of the main stream music today is like this. Yes there are songs from the 90s that were as well. Main stream music from today is entirely like this how ever. Very few songs today talk about anything other then how to be a self centered person. Everything is about money, cars etc...
mitchell6811 2 months ago 2
@mitchell6811 - That's a broad generalization. If you were more thoughtful and selective regarding your musical choices, you would find what you're looking for. Read what you have written... "a majority of the mainstream music today is like this", and "Everything is about money, cars, etc...". You make very broad brush strokes, painting the music of today as shallow. Trust me, you could have found shallow music back in the mid 90s, or any other era, for that matter.
JNugent74 1 month ago 2
@JNugent74 absolutely i could find music like that from any era. only thing is i would have to look. today i just have to turn on the radio
mitchell6811 1 week ago
@lob287 When I was a teenager in the 90's so many people said "today's music sucks, 80's music is so fun!" It will happen next decade and every decade after that.

@felicia8086 I'm 23 and amen to that. There is good music out there brother, but you won't find it on the radio.

@felicia8086 Every older generation says they hate the younger generations music and the younger generation just says "Crazy old person. Your opinions don't matter." It's a vicious cycle.
