For those who are watching this and plan on playing in the future, there are a lot of different quests there to either add allies or boost their morale for the fight against the skeletons. It's also recommended that you go to Redcliffe only when you have intermediate Persuasion to save you money, and get a really nifty sword from that little boy.

I have it on X360 now. It looks like the PC version would be much easier to control since you can pause combat without bringing up the radial menu, but I don't have a good enough PC for it.

@cornishpastie9 The console version is far easier than the PC version. Not control wise, the game is just easier. If it were the same difficulty, it would be much harder because of the Poor interface.

The number of time I wish I could have the long bar at the bottom for my abilities instead of the crappy 6 I can hotkey. :(

Annoying that you haven't discovered the buttons below your party portraits on the left - toggles between "move freely" and "hold position" for the party, and the other selects the entire party, so you can easily make them all move - for example, to retreat.

For future "Let's Play" series, I hope you take time, outside the recoreded play, to familiarize yourself with basic controls and basic gameplay concepts. With just a few hints, you would have done SO much better.

You should probably try to use "persuade" before intimidation, as a fail in intimidation often leads to the end of discussion, while if a persuade fails, you can always try to intimidate afterwards.

Leliana as an archer, if you yourself are not one, is amazing for this since Morrigan's frost spells are practically useless, and frost is where her speciality lies since her robes give a bonus to frost damage.

@RedM555: well, he wasn't hiding anything in the cupboard. He just had the key to the chest upstairs that Toegoff said he wouldn't rob... which btw he couldn't even if he decided to since he didn't get the key from the boy.

Way too late for this but you could have found some oil in the general store to make some fire they have to run through to get to your group. Just make sure that none of your people run through it to engage them.

If you chose a mage and talk to the boy and intimadate him which says im a powerful mage you know and the boy tells you and gives you the key to the chest upstairs

Is that only if you are a mage? I know I did that as a mage, but I am unsure if you can as other classes, either way, I don't use the sword.

u can do that as a warrior with a good amount of strength. i did it with a warrior and the boy got scared and gave me the key and ran

I didn't have any luck on the boy either.....

Also, you have to pay the dwarf defenders 100 silver (1 gold). They are on the locked shack near the back of the town. Also the tavern master can be recruited too.

looks like you did not get all of the optional defenders here (the dwarf and his 2 buddies)

From what I read. Get your cunning to 16 so you can get that one ability to be able to persuade people. After hitting 16 on cunning, no need to put points into it again.

ive never had any luck with intimidation....... try other options like persuade
