  • This is why I don't do cross country. The jumps you can't knock down...they knock you down! Scary

  • 0:50 I'm flying

    Yes you are =D

    Awesome!

  • Honest horses like this are worth their weight in gold.

  • @barnbrunette15

If you think THESE guys are honest... you should check out the 2nd horse in "ImmortalSynn's Guide to the Gambler's Choice"

That mount is the *definition* of "saint"!!!

  • the music to this is so great and perfect! (the whole volume 1 video)

  • were is this

  • @shortiieeiiee

    Badminton and Burghley

  • Die arem Pferde ei. -.-

  • i love how at the end when the horse falls over the fence and gets straight back up, the rider shouts "good boy!" and pats him. That was the only rider who did that.

  • @alexjoules

Only rider who audibly speaks it, sure... but not the only one to pat, if you'll go back and watch again.

  • @ImmortalSynn

Ahh, sorry, my bad (: Some of them falls looked painful, but apparently not haha.

  • Imagine how much that woulda hurt for the horse at :28 but he got up and just powered on...amazing horse :)

  • 0:32 = Wow

  • AWESOME

  • awesome video =] would be better with music though...

Just goes to show how honest some horses are =P

  • I feel really bad because I had to laugh at 0:50. Did you see his arms??

    Awesome horses!!

  • i love how none of the horses refused they just kept going.. and after a stumble they just get right back to cantering/gallup!

  • just like the riders

  • bloody hell all of the riders are amazing i loved the vid and i liked the end one :D x

  • looks like few of them hurt the horses yet they kept ridding on

  • looks like they all abnged up their legs pretty well, but good saves.

  • at 0:39 it was stupit 2 keep going

  • ouch! The horses look fine right after they stumble, but then again, how fast are their hearts already beating from the endurance, and how much adrenaline is pumping through their veins? Even if they look fine, that's gotta hurt the next day!!!

  • how the hell did they stay on!!!!

  • Seven Words:

    We are Equestrians

    We can do anything

  • @TheEquestrianWorld

...and all the riders said: "Amen"

  • Wow this is crazy haha

  • if that was my horse id get off to make sure she was ok some of these clips looks like it hurt the horse!! poor things

  • how amazing and honest an animal the horse is? they keep going, they know it is their job to win.

  • is that the same guy?? because he always flings his arms in the air everytime they jump "hang look no hands"

  • Damn!!!!! hahaha

  • dangerous much? honest horses though. i hate watching horses fail (literally, not your 'epic fail') at xc because the jumps are so damn hard. solid and in the most uneventful places. but the riders are so starved for the win that they keep them going. if my horse fell like that i'd be off and checking lameness. that's gotta hurt in the morning.

  • @MegaPonyLove :

    that's true

  • I can not speak english very well!

I think the horse is not verry happy!

It ist bad and a horror!

  • most of these riders. . .as world-class as they may be. . .just ran their horses at those fences, didn't gave impulsion of anyhting!!

  • I hate it when the Riders make the horse jump something but whipping it then when it falls or hits the jumps they make it keep going.. not even a pat or anything.. i think thats mean.. The last rider may have smacked her horse before the jump, but atleast she was nice enough to pat him after he got up and kept going

  • Ian Stark also did the same, in this particular clip.

  • ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!!! painful i would never do that again if i was riding

  • i like the last one!! goes to show you that she loves her horse!!

  • Some of those looked painful for the horses, they hit their hindlegs on the jumps... Ouch... Brilliant riders though, I'd be gone just going over those jumps...

  • I'm sure that if the horses were hurt they wouldn't have kept running.

  • Yee-ha. I was never a wimp on a horse, but I think you've gotta have a few screws loose to want to go x-c at this level. ;-)

  • As a 100% show jumper... solid obstacles scare the everlovin' crap out of me now.

  • i dont think it's really the solid obstacles only, it's also how and where they have been placed o.o

  • wow its amazing that none of the horses were seriously injured... all those times i wud have fallen off haha

  • jw how high up r these ppl???!

bc (and i dont no ANYTHING bout CC and this is just my thoughts) but is my horse landed on some of those jumps like those horses did, or fell liek tht. Id wanna pull it up and make sure its ok.....

but then again i guess ure on a time limit but i dont think itd b worth it if my horse was hurt.....but then thts just me

  • Chances are if the horse keeps running, he's fine. Riders get pretty good at feeling if a horse is "off" while it runs.

  • Well now they have "spotters" on the courses at international events. They can judge if a horse should be watched for signs of fatigue or injury and they have the ability to pull a horse out of competition.

  • all those ditch ones were suck awkward jumps. mu horse would have been scared shitless. =P and she's super honest. kudos to them for being incredible riders. and to those horses for saving both their asses.

  • the last one made me smile :)

  • this video should be titled: "Three Day Event - - The Horses are Super Amazing at Saving Your Ass"

  • ...maybe that'll be the sequel ;)

  • ooo so close

  • eventers are amazing riders...i love watching top level riders like this...

i hope i can ride like this someday

  • ...if that's what you like, then you should watch its sister video: "Thrills & Spills -- Crosscountry Champions"

  • same here i wouldn't want anything bad to happen i hope they checked for injuries u know . the horse could keep going and then a sprain or something might just pop out after the competition

  • I'm glad all the horses were ok! They're so willing. I'm glad almost all the riders pet the horses for reassurance. I love how they all clap for the horse at the end.

  • Comment removed

  • ...should probably pay closer attention before gettin yourself all worked up.

    0:21

  • most patted there horses and usually when a fall or accident happens were to busey filling the horses movment for problems and talking to them to see if they need to resign or not

  • :O

on the clip at 0:55, the horse would have got over that jump fine if his rider hadnt battered him on the approach!

  • if u look he wold have run out the length and change of stride the face expression he was focusining on the jump too much and would thve braked at the last minute if she haddnt cought his attetion

  • Not neccesarily, it was probably backing off so the rider actually rode the fence instead of sitting there like a sissy waiting to grind to a halt. It just didint land in balence and toppled but i love how she pats it at the end you can hear her sayong "good boy!" makes me smile actually :)

  • Wow!!! Amazing horses and riders!!

There postions are totally up to them!

They are just amazing to stay on in those circumstances

  • pity the poor horses, notice how the riders never slam into solid obstacles as hard as those poor horses do, sorry no respect for the idiots

  • ah dear. I think of a few riders caused those - inadvertently of course. It looked like a few when they cropped their horses it broke the horse's concentration on the jump and kind of messsed it up... I've never really been a fan of crops anyway.

And some of those horses were so good, they just kept going after those D:

  • Wooow, amazing saves! Such brilliant horses, as well as obviously fantastic riders!

  • omg o.o

  • The guy on the first clip is an idiot... pulling back like that. he was asking for it.

  • "The guy on the first clip is an idiot"

...he's also one of the most accomplished riders in Eventing history. Perhaps it's best to know who you're talking about before you make yourself sound foolish?

  • I guess I didn't mean that HE was an idiot, but that posture was. I'm sorry, I do not get how pulling back that hard will help your horse. I understand he was off balance, but several riders do that anyway, off balance or not.

Sorry, that is my opinion. If it sounds foolish to you, I really don't mind. I just think people should start getting better positions in XC.

  • "If it sounds foolish to you, I really don't mind."

    That's understandable.

To be honest, I rather doubt he would mind either-- at least until you too win two Olympic medals, medal in the World Equestrian Games, win three golds in the European Eventing Championships, and of course win Badminton... like he did. ;)

  • i am not saying he didn't, just saying he did it with a horrible position. :)

of course, maybe when he is balanced, he is not like the others. :)

  • ...you still don't get it:

Anyone with any true experience in this game knows that "posture" as an absolute, is a construct for beginners, amateurs, and internet criticizers

Sure you have your Michael Matz and Beezie Maddens, who make it look like an equitation round over bigger fences... but if you've ever seen Margie Engle, Hugo Simon, or Roger Yves-Bost ride, you'd realize that posture is in no way indicative of a rider's ability to get optimum performance out of his horse, at the FEI level

  • I am not saying his leg has to be perfect, his heels have to be at a certain angle, etc.

I am saying that he should be in a position that HELPS his horse, not hauling back on the reins all the time.

    That is my opinion anyway.

  • yeah would like to see you recover from that.

  • very nicely made. but 3/4 of the horses that hit the fence..if that was me riding and i was the owner expecially, i would take the horses out of the competition to kept from possibly getting injured more. adn ik, its a TON of money to enter into that high level of competition!

  • hitting them fences would hurt. the horses have a lot of heart to get over them fences, and some of them riders have super glue on their butts.

  • Wow. In the first clip, that's one honest horse, they all are but to stand of and still make it over the last fence must have been hard and he still tried his little heart out to scramble over. x

  • no no no

  • omg i would get off and check my horse is ok after some of those slips!!

  • I love how in all the clips the riders praise their horses a lot for getting them out of the mess! :)

  • O M G.

  • some of those looked reaaallly painful. ouch.

  • ...sure, though these are NOTHING compared to some of the ones in "Fixed-Obstacle FacePlants" and "Water Wipeouts"

  • yeah i know. Im sure slamming your face into the ground is alot more painful then into the horses neck.

  • True... then again, one may even turn such into a famous maneuver, as in the video "Name Anne Kursinski's New Move" ;)

  • whoa, that looked quite pleasent.

    got you point there.

  • Sometimes I wonder who the better athlete is: horse or rider? Unbelievable talent across the board!

  • I love the last clip =D realy good rider and horse :-) shame that event horses these days dont seem as versatile and tough as these...but thats the sport changing I guess :-)

  • The first horse is one in a million. An honest tryer with a heart of gold. Whoever has had the priviledge of owning or riding that horse should consider themselves honoured!

  • ...you actually see him several times in these clips: that's Sir Wattie, with Ian Stark.

  • woah these are amazing saves :D

  • oh how sad for the horses

  • love it

  • The last clip is so wonderful =D

  • i like how the first horse in the video stretches really far and tries to get over that last jump in the set. :) what a good job!

  • Indeed.

Sir Wattie was actually known for his saves-- have a couple of more clips of saves by that particular horse, just haven't included them... particularly seeing as he's already featured twice in this one!

  • At least the most of the riders give the horses a pat, some punish them for getting into that situation when it isnt even their fault..

    great video

  • What software do you use to compile your vids?

  • ...depends on what you mean by "compile".

I use several different ones to digitalize VHSs, to edit/cut, to apply text/music (to ones that don't already have it), etc.

  • I adoe the end clip where some yells "gGOOD HORSE" and quite right too! Where all the horses in this okay?

    XXX

  • ...as stated in the info box, all horses seen here were able to get up and walk away under their own power.

  • yeh.. i saw but were they all okay after they were caught and stuff?

    xxx

  • I love this video! the clips go so well with the music, it always makes me smile :D

5 stars and a favourite my friend

  • These horses are absolutely incredible - what spirit.

  • Wow, The things our horses do for us.

I know in eventing its either stay on or get dq'ed but I would have definatly pulled my horse up on a few of those spills

  • I love how the horses keep going. It had to be painful.

  • haha at 0:55 sec. looks like the guy is riding a bronc. (his hand was way up in the air)

great saves though. Im way too chicken to try a cross contry course. i could barly get my butt over a log

  • LOL, never noticed that before.

You're not alone though-- I'll try any (show) fence that I know a horse is capable of clearing, and truth be told, have tried some that they probably weren't on all but a good day ;) ...but terrified to try anything higher than 2'6 or so, on crosscountry. 3' at the max, just don't like the fixed obstacles.

  • who was that at 9 and 50 sec.? he can't ride.

  • ...if you had a hunchback, how good do ya think ~your~ balance would be? ;)

  • awesome video!

  • Thats gotta b from back in the day when horses learned they had a leg in each corner from the hunting field! Nice riding!! :)

  • wow VERY CLOSE ... was the horse ok at 32secs and well all of them were pretty bad

  • omg if my horse fell like that after the jump and tripped that badly over the jump i would not have continued cantering off!

  • I blame the riders. There is not much you can blame on a horse no matter what... Whatever a horse does is a reaction to something. If the horse is hitting into jumps or lunging into the air, OBVIOUSLY you should stop. The horse will probably end up having leg joint problems. One day that horse will fall and the rider will take a bad fall. There is a perfect example of an imbecile riding a horse.

  • i feel bad for those horses :(

  • I have to disagree, you may think that putting your horse through the test of an International course is to harsh, but your horse is not an International eventer (apolagies if he is) but these horses are bred and built to do this, and they love it! Its all fair saying your ok with XC but not the bad bits, well it dosent work like that, the bad bits are part of it, and you cant escape the fact that people and horses WILL ALWAYS get injuries for as long as the sport continues.

  • I personally would never put ANY horse through that, regardless of its age, pedigree, breeding, or athletic prowess.

But then again, I feel the same way about GP level dressage. And of course, I understand that there are others who'd feel the same about my horses' jumping. But since we're speaking in matters of opinion here.......

  • This makes me cringe. Can anyone imagine what it must be like to whallop your legs against a wooden fence with this force? Take a look at 0:38sec for example.. Poor buggers. Gosh horses are fantastic creatures to put up with us at times. I'm ok with XC but the bad bits? I hate watching them. I feel sorry for the horses.

  • granted, I'd NEVER put any horse of mine through the rigors of 3 or 4 star XC... but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy watching others do it though-- both the spills and thrills!

  • Yes, I admit I am soft with my horses - their precious little leggies! :-) - and there is far worse than this anyway. These horses will all be fine- it's the rotational falls that worry me. In any case, great video.

  • "it's the rotational falls that worry me"

...if that's the case, then you should see my one entitled "Water Whipeouts" ;)

  • I love this ! ! !

These horses are tough!!! good on em

  • woww. in a lot of these, the horses truley save their riders buts!

  • LOL, true...

but it all evens out in the end. If you've seen the "Water Whipeouts" video, the endings aren't quite so positive ;)

  • Isn't this from the movie? We used to watch this ALL the time at camp!

  • What movie?

...this is from the "Thrills & Spills" collection.

  • i love how you can hear her yell "good boy" after her horse falls lol

  • ...of course, the more logical explanation being that the "good boy" was for getting back up and into stride so quickly, not for the fall.

That, and the rider's a man-- the shout came from the crowd.

  • i know the "good boy" was for getting back up so quickly.. im not stupid lol.. and i didnt realize that the rider was a man, i heard the woman voice and just assumed it came from the rider..

  • i love the video. but the horses look like they have been working really hard and there riders don't even notice!

    still awesome vid!

  • ...I'm not exactly sure how you come to that conclusion:

Ian Stark quite clearly pets Sir Wattie in the 2nd scene in which they appear, and the video ends with a rider furiously patting his horse for the 'save' while the crowd is screaming "Good boy!"

  • Have you takin these clips yourself?

  • Not this one, they're a compilation from the "Thrills & Spills" series.

  • jeeze if my horse had a bad fall I would of stop

  • ...I'm sure most riders would-- but if you'll notice, none of these horses "had a bad fall", so I'm not sure what relevance that statement has to this video.

  • ouch poor horses
