  • Try using a little salt - it will give some interesting effects, too, and when dry can be brushed off. If you live in an area that is humid, you might NOT want to do this since some salt will still be in the ink. I use the salt for some of my silk paintings, but must remove it through washing or it stays somewhat wet here on the coast. I think your process might be a very interesting for some silk paintings.

  • @KatieDarden You might also try working with some shaving cream and/or alcohol based items (hairspray, alcohol, etc.). I have used all of those in fabric dyeing and painting

  • a+++++++++++++++

  • is it glossy photo paper and do you think other inks would work?

  • The beauty of this process is that every paper and every kind of ink gives you a different result. I normally use glossy paper.

  • so lovely....so fluid..

  • Thank you very much!

  • what paper and what ink.? I would loooove to try this...thanks Jose

  • I use inkjet photo paper and the inks I extract from inkjet cartridges. Thanks for your interest.

  • that is really cool! what are you painting on though? it looks like its all on top of a layer of water.

  • yes. The paper is waterproof and only the ink leaves its mark.
