I very much enjoy your gear reviews, I also enjoy your playing. Any chance of you combining your clear and concise demo skills with some tuition for us lesser plods.
@MankyScotsG1t Thanks, I appreciate your kind words. I do teach, sometimes, from home or Skype. For a fee, though, as it's one of the few income sources I have (these demo videos don't pay anything). Time is my enemy, unfortunately. I have none! Cheers, BK.
maybe i should mention too that i'm not looking for a scoped mids tone, i'm already wondering if the shredmaster pedal will even have enough midrange on tap...
it's a strat, single coils, into musicman rd fifty -( a fender clean style tone, 50 watts, pair 6L6's) but... i always leave the overdrive pedal on to break it up, compress it and boost the mids a little, and i also use a sib fuzz at times for a the dirt lead tones, so for that fat smooth singing distortion lead tone with enough mids and enough low end, i'm thinking either the shredmaster or the stupid box. how useful are their eq's, responsive?
With that setup I'm not sure that the Stupid Box will be the right choice. Its main purpose is to turn a clean amp into a dirty amp. It has some control over EQ but not necessarily in the 'mids' area. The Shredmaster is high gain with a mid sweep but won't accentuate the mids in the way a tubescreamer would. BYOC's new Overdrive II looks great as does the Lovepedal E6 Eternity or Black Kanji (great mids). I've demoed the former and it's amazing. I'd expect the Black Kanji to be good too. Rawk!
i'm looking for a lead channel dist box, i'm using the crunch box now, but i'd like a bit more control on the bass and midrange, i'm thinking either this stupid box or the byoc shredmaster clone, i'll be ganging it with and overdrive/ fuzz for singing lead tone, do you think the stupid box is a good way to go, or would you suggest the shredmaster in this capacity? i like the stupid box's flexibility with the trim pots, do they really effect the eq substantially?
Nice Clip. Brian makes some great stuff, I've always been a fan of his pedals. I had a choice out of this and the Liquid Sunshine, dam it was a hard choice. Ended up with the LS, but I would dare say this will make it onto my board one day soon.
Thanks Joe. I have three different recording methods: 1. A Panasonic camera direct to iMovie and then to YouTube; 2. My guitar through a pedal into the Bassman and then into My MacBook Pro's camera and mic to iMovie and upped to YT; and 3. My guitar into a pedal into an amp I've built inside Amplitube 2 or Waves GTR3.5 software and recorded into the mic and camera of my MacBook Pro, into iMovie and upped to YT. Complicated but it works for me. I aim for PGS's quality though. They win. :)
