Did she tell the therapist that she had intentions of visiting her father?

    .

    Obviously not.

    .

"She said to her self "that was my father"; she ought to have said that to her therapist, not "to herself".

    .

May be she ought to go to a Psychoanalyst for more intensive theapy, which makes her see that she doesn't need to "go visit" but can work on her relationship with her father without involving him.

    .

    NIce hair !

  • Alanon has saved my life and is helping me gain my sanity back. I am a mother if an 18 year old who has been struggling with substance abuse since she was 12. It is a gentle program and it works if you work it, and you're worth it.

  • oh and btw. i do not want to hear about problems dribing them to drink. at 28 yrs old i was in a car wreck. husband left completely paralyzed. i am now 45 and still taking care of him also went back to college and finished my profession and raised two kids. then two grand kids. never taken a drug or a drink and believe me i know life sucks..ok..it's BS..they are selfish ppl.

  • @sweetkittytwine You should look into Al-Anon. God bless..

  • my brother is alcohilic. i cared once but he has abused me terribly, i do not care anymore. and soon i will ask him to leave my house and i hope to not ever see him again. it is a choice he makes. he goes to a friends house a few days and stays sober. comes home and immediately picks up the bottle. i am tired of looking at a drunk in that condition.

  • my brother lives with me. he is a bad alcoholic. has anyone else seen the mess they make in the house. burning up carpets with a smoke. and shitting all over your bathroom and down the walls. is this normal of an alcoholic?

  • I have 3 family members who are alcoholic and then AA. They all expected me to go to al anon. Nope. Their addictions, their abuse, their neglect, their problem. AA just allowed them to transfer their addictions and their self centered manipulations continue. No I am not going to al anon so I can be ok with their abuse. The abuse needs to stop and so do these cults that enable continued abuse.

I understand the "stinking thinking", but you can Never stop living. It is hard but you can control your thinking, your attitude, your reaction to how other people act.

  • @noose1974 lol right. well im sitting on my computer cuz im afraid to go outside :P its been like that for about a year now.

  • It's like having your wife die, but only to have some evil bitch take over her body who knows every single thing about you so they can systematically tear you to pieces. After 13 years of marriage and 2 kids I threw her out after finally having an affair. She actually said I drove her to it by not giving her the love she needs. As if she had a clue what love really is anymore. Myself, and the kids are now in therapy, and I am thinking about al-anon. Though a bit weary, I feel strong.

  • Alanon has saved my brother's and my backsides. Thanks!

  • This is one of my favorite videos too!

  • its human nature to want to take care of another human being......codependency is when you cross the line...and al-anon is there to help you .

  • ALANON R SICKER THAN MOST.

  • Wonderful Video. I've been a member of Alanon for 26 years. A great explanation of the wonders of the program. Thank you. Alcoholism and drug addiction, surrounds my life. My Grandfather,Father,Uncle,Brother, husband, children. I know....I know...With Al anon I can live a reasonable happy life.

  • Just a fellowship of people that are getting real with some very difficult situations.

  • It is true, all of it.

    HAHAHAHA

    HAR DEE HAR

  • true, connor. Very true!!!

  • Wow, you sound bitter dude.

  • Alcoholism is the disease of removal, it removes love, compassion, communication, self esteem, confidence, and many more. Al-Anon brings all those things back through the experience strength and hope of the programme. Not only is the alcoholic affected by their drinking, so to are the family, families also need to recover form the effects of addiction.

  • I grew up with an Alcoholic father. He died in 2000 of Lung Cancer, but he had sclerosis of the Liver also. There is not a day goes by that I don't think about those days. I wrote a song about my mothers relationship with my alcoholic father that I posted as a response. It's called "Liquor Coated Lies". The promises he told us turned into Liquor Coated Lies. My mother (and the kids) finally had to move on because he wouldn't change. Thanks for the video.

  • Hi lexicon. It seem like you and i share the same problem. My wife has stopped eating properly and weighs only five and a half stone. I fear that the end is in sight and it breaks my heart.Sometimes i hate her for what she has done to our family. But, i can't stop loving her. I will stay and I will be strong.I am determined to find my inner strength to carry on.All I can do is to wish you good luck an hope that you too can find some peace. Mike

  • My wife is an alcoholic.....I've given her 10 years I can't do it anymore.

  • My father was an alcoholic. We had no relationship until I entered Alanon. My birthday is 3/91. Thanks to this program we had a great relationship for fifteen years. He did not die sober, but he did die loved, and he knew it.

  • This is what Al-anon is all about :)
