I think that the vocals are actually being controlled by the keyboard player but the dynamics are being controlled from the voice of the drummer. Kind of like a microphone on a microkorg, only she has the mic and he has the keyboard. my guess

@mrlee192 - There are lots of different methods of reproducing voice-doubling and octaves that can be used live. While not as good of quality as the studio would be, it can still sound pretty good. Personally I like this stripped down version just as much as the studio version.
