I bought a Roland D-550 because of this song (Soundtrack patch.) Words can't describe what this song makes me think and feel. It's like a dream that you try to explain to someone but they'd never understand.
when the part of the song says,( go on tell them they will known :know what: that im not like anyone else!) ...............what is that from a movie or what! and if so what is the movie!
This is my most favorite Song from SEAL too!! Crazy! I was on my way to college & just thinking that "this song is some great driving to class music", when I saw a standing sleeping horse in a farmers field, with it's breath in the air. It was a poignant & significant moment & solidified this song to be my number 1! Thanks for posting!
@jazzigurl1203 Thanks. From the "Rare collections"? Not sure if there was a couple of acoustic versions. I'm pretty sure there was. I bought the "Rare collection" version a while back. :)
Yeah, it sounds like some comments from some old picture or t.v. show. I discovered this song while I was attending college at The University of Alabama. I would especially like to hear it when it was raining. I'd go get in the rocking chair on the front porch and smoke one and drink a glass of wine. Talk about you troubles 'melting away'. Incredible emotional conjuring with this song...
One of the most magical, amazing compositions ever. Love this record so much. It ('s only love that) gets me through..... thank u Seal and Trevor Horn. genius.
I used to" loop" this song in my cd player at night and fall asleep to this while watching the needles on the amp (in soft blue) dance back and forth ......ahhh the memories!!!
lol thats real funny man because i used to do the same thing. i find that shit odd as hell. i still have this shit here on Tape in a shoebox some where. it a great song no frontin on that
I first this tune walking along the santa monica pier on my walkman in 1995. The peaceful melodic sound goes perfectly with the scenery of the beach on a warm southern california afternoon.

I have had so many dreams...where I meet Seal in person. Maybe I get stuck on an elevator with him. Maybe I see him in passing in New York City one day. Maybe after a concert. And I think of all the things I would love to say to him. And of all the things I would want to say and do......I would start off by telling him how this song, Violet.....showed be a beauty that I didn't know existed. I heard this for the first time when I was 13 years old. It impacted me greatly.
Violet is not only my favorite Seal song but, one of my all-time favorite songs. When I go into that next life I want this song to take me there. When I hear it, my mind goes in so many different and wonderful directions. I truly LOVE this song.
This not only my favorite Seal song but, one my all-time favorites. When I go into that next life, I want this song to be playing because it takes me in so many different directions. I truly LOVE this song.
This song is magic! Every time I hear it I'm transported back to a time --can't believe it's 20 years ago now -- when I was living in Finland and listening to this CD constantly. Still a perfect perfect rainy day chill out song.
This song has been one of my all time favourites for 20 yrs now, its so moving I am transported into my past, holidays when I was a kid and I had this one and only album on cassette (remember those!?) to a time when my father was still alive, and that makes me cry, its one of the only things left that makes me feel close to him, thankyou Seal xx
This first album from Seal - I actually brought on cassette tape. I was deep into hip hop when this came out (1991). I heard "Crazy" on the radio and just declded to take a chance. I never ever purchased any "pop" music this was the first one it remains one of best. (his first 3 LP's are all classiscs to me - After the 4th he lost a little steam to me). But the last 2 songs "Show Me" then "Violet" blew me away.
Seal has a lot of great songs but this one is the best.
This is my favorite song of all time!!!!! It has been clasic since day one (1991) and still sounds relevant today. I play and sing this song for my children when i rock them to sleep. For 20 years this song has topped my charts
The harmony, feeling, voice, music, takes me there every time I hear it.
And i forgot to mention that i've listened to this album and Violet in particular at least once a day since the album was released...think about that...for 20 YEARS!!! Still can't get enough!!!
What an amazing song to end a brilliant album! I can't believe it's 20 years old!! Still sounds as fresh and mezmarising as the first time i experienced it! And trent730 i must agree with you, best SEAL song ever.
This is one of the most wonderful songs I've ever listened. The balance between silence, harmony, melody and rythm is simply perfect. The most night-time dreamy deep pop song I've ever listened to.
Other similar ones: 'Moonlight Shadow' (Mike Oldfield), 'Your Latest Trick' (Dire Straits), 'Are You Sitting Comfortably?' (The Moody Blues), 'True to Life' (Roxy Music).
This song is a testament to extrodinary song writing and "in the pocket groovin." Still after 20 years + this song is still fresh. My own children now 17, 15 and 11 ask to play it. This is what I mean when I say "real lasting music." One of his best. Thanks Seal. Wow, after 20 years....
I can listen to this a million times and I still lurve it, it's ironic because this was the only track on the album I didn't really care for but I decided to leave it playing this one time and I don't know I appreciated it a lot more and ever since then it's been my favourite song ever
layed back chilling to this song but what movie is it when they speak of it being the 2nd time he didnt die go ahead they will know, know what that im not like anyone else. what does that come from.
im so glad im not alone cuz this world is so big i love this song and alot of your comments made me feel closer to you all, music is such a beatiful thing to share amongst each other
Nothing better than opening the window on a rainy day, lighting a few candles, and cleaning up your apartment while listening to this... if you're single, that is.
@jellis4465 the movie is called the sicilian with the highlander christopher lambert and john tuturro. i have seen it like five times and that is why i caught it...otherwise i would have said wha....
