  • i thought it was some guy called Narpa's sword.

  • You do not need the bottom row of zeros...also FYI I was the one who published this code since I found it when doing my Metroid hack.

  • @MegaDog111 no way? how long ago was that?

  • @DAportfolio Many years ago, I think I did my Metroid M hack in like 2000 something...

  • Mother Brain is FUCKIN' IMPOSSIBLE

  • elivator music FTW!

  • There're two spelling mistakes that I noticed you've made, one is in the video's annotations, you typed "infinate", when it's supposed to be "infinite", and the second is in the description, you typed "then" when it's supposed to be "than".

  • @jruler93 Thanks! I am too lazy to spell check.

  • to DAportfolio: 1) No problem! 2) Well, are you too lazy to correct an error blatantly pointed out to you? And 3) If you're too lazy to spellcheck, then you may want to try using your Wii, if you have one.

  • @jruler93 I fixed them.

  • to DAportfolio: Okay!

P.S. My previous comment was made using my Wii, my first comment, as well as this one, were both made using my desktop computer.

  • So I just bought a copy of this game on Ebay and for some reason I CANT select "Continue" to input any passwords >_<

  • 1:53 lol i already figured that out. yoy spoke 2 late. >:3

  • 1:32 - Too the Lobby Movie Hotel & snack-area lounge!* Lols.!*

  • Holy...

  • do you have to put this password in first: narpassword0?

  • This is the only password that is actually hard-coded into the game. If it wasn't this would result in a checksum error.

Codes like JUSTIN BAILEY? Just coincedence that they work. 1 out of 256 passwords will do something.

  • isn't Narpa from dbz or is that nappa ?

  • @KaiserVadin

    Nappa

  • Clearly the password was created by a narwhal.

  • I don't understand why they abbreviated "North American Release" to "NAR" when they clearly had enough room to spell it out.

  • lol I hate those "congratulations you beat the game lol" NES endings

  • Wow, excellent video. I am impressed with this code its like finding a four leaf clover that actually works. Justin Bailey is your homeboy. Thanks for sharing this with the world.

  • Does this count as 100% when you beat the game with this code?

  • @3T1D8Step all of the items and energy tanks are still in there place, so unless you get them, no. However, the original Metroid doesn't have a % completion. If your looking to do a full completion, i would suggest just doing it the old fashion way and beating the game with no code.

  • I remember beating this when I was a kid, I just don't remember how because it's so damn hard.

  • No guys, this is what it meant:

    N(orth)A(merican)R(elease)PASSWORD0

    000000000000

The zero's are just filler. :3

  • @AweXomeDudeMan Ah, that is a more plausible answer then the other theory. Makes sense.

  • @AweXomeDudeMan Jesus! It isn't that either. The guy who made the password system is Tohru Narihiro. Nar is short for Narihiro. He just made his own "Nar Password" for fun, for testing his own "God mode".

And "Justin Bailey" is just an accident. It just happens to work, because everything you type in will work as long as you get the last 2 characters in the password right to match. It just so happens that 2 spaces or dashes (same thing in the password system) at the end works.

  • @AweXomeDudeMan "Nar Password", named after and by the creator of the password system, Torhu Narihiro. The zeroes aren't even necessary, since a space left blank (not the space character, but no character) is the same as "0". So simply typing in "NARPASSWORD" is enough.

  • @mradam2 I tried that on both my emulator and my actual copy of Metroid, and you need the 0s. Just NARPASSWORD doesn't work.

  • @animegamingdude

I tried it on the emulator, and I did not need the 0s. Are you actually filling the blanks in with spaces? That will not work. That's not the same as leaving them blank.

  • @DatGuyOwesMeBaconNow I have always done it with the zeros. I haven't tried it any other way. And what spaces? are you talking about the separation after the first six characters on the top and bottom? You will find that it every Metroid code.

  • @AweXomeDudeMan So the Famicom one would be:

    JARPASSWORD000000000000?

Am I getting you right? Or is it different in Japan?

  • @MegamanX20100 no because it would most likely be in japanese characters

  • @NgTuCkEr64360 Well, yeah. Did you read my other comment though? Lol

  • @MegamanX20100

No, "Nar Password" is just based on the name of the creator of the password system, T. Narihiro. His name appears in the game's end credits "Converted by T. Narihiro". It has nothing to do with "Narpas Sword" or "North American Release".

What would "JAR" stand for anyway? "Japanese American Release"?

  • @DatGuyOwesMeBaconNow Oh, that makes sense. I'm very oblivious to the stuff anyways, even mitzi for this since I've never had the game (only the Zero Mission one and 3DS Virtual Console; not the NES. I wasn't even born then!). As for the JAR I mentioned... I just wasn't thinking. Besides, they speak a different language regardless. And also why are we still taking about this? The Famicom doesn't even have passwords anyways!

  • @AweXomeDudeMan Whoops, nevermind, I realize how the Famicom works with saves, shoulda read the description. I'm a retard.

  • @AweXomeDudeMan

    I think you're wrong.

I think it means it's Narihiro's Password, as in T. Narihiro, the dude who created the password system. His name appears in the game's end credits as "Converted by T.Narihiro". And yes, the 0's are filler because the 0 symbol and the blank (lack of symbol, not the same as a space) are both considered the same value. The hyphen '-' symbol is also the same value as the space; they are interchangeable in the same way.

  • @Jormakkeli Oh man I hate you so called professional players with your "I'm so good because I play on harder difficulties with no cheats." attitude. Cheats are for fun you jerk.

  • it is a real password.the weird thing is why did the metroid creators put these screwed up passwords in their game.must of been smoking pot or somthing.

  • nah, youve been smokin pot XD

  • how di i skip the freakin lvl

  • I Got that code from a game informer issue "NARPAS SWORD0 00000 00000" Useful i beat metriod with it twice

  • if you beat it one more time she is probaly naked

  • Nah, i tried that like a million times. It doesn't work

  • L2MotherBrain nice vid tho

  • actualy i know what it REALLY is:narpasswordOR nar password OR(OR) not a real password clever eh?

  • Yeah, thats pretty cool.

  • its a real password

  • i know that, but it falls together so nicely lol

  • it isnt Narpas Sword, it's Nar Password!

  • Ha, never thought about putting it that way, but that's right. I just leave it at Narpas Sword because of the space in it when you enter it in the password screen.

  • what does nar stand for?

  • "Not A Real" Password? who knows

  • Most likely North American Release Password, because the Japanese version had no password system, it had a save file (it was a Famicom Disk System game sold on rewritable FDS floppy disks)

  • Definitely true. No password system at all on the disk system version. I haven't tried it with the PAL version yet though. I am sure it is like North America's though.
