now the doctor has 10 more lives added to his remaining two, or possibly one, because Dave Tennant probably wasted a regeneration. The 11th doctor could possibly be really the 12th. But thats all changed thanks to his wife (spoilers)
@SCC Yes. Some Timelords, like the Master, were able to exceed this limit by bodysnatching and eventually gaining new regenerations. How this was done was not explained, however, in "The Five Doctors", the Master was promised a new regenerative cycle by the High Council if he would save the Doctor. He didn't aquire this new cycle until he was resurrected in the Last Great Time War, it seems. Possibly, the Doctor himself gained new lives when River gave him hers in Let's Kill Hitler.
@clara2768 First, he's not Dr.Who, he's The Doctor. Dr.Who was the name of Peter Cushing's role in two non-canon Dalek movies form the sixties. And yes, the Doctor is a renegade Time Lord. While all the other Time Lords just would sit around on Gallifrey and do nothing but observing the Time Stream, the Doctor wandered off to explore distant worlds and help the people. This was regarded as "meddling" by his people and they tried him for it twice - in "The War Games" and "Trial of a Time Lord".
Wouldn't it had been cool if during Ten and Rose's trip into the parallel dimension where they met the other version of the cybermen, they encountered that universe's version of the Doctor and it was Paul McGann? Then Ten and Rose could go off and live happily ever after while we the viewers would go on to watch the further travels of Doctor McGann, who they could always say was the 1st incarnation of the Doctor in this particular universe. Just a thought.
Yesss, this is what BBC should do! Well done, HumanHorrorMovie!!^^
Star Trek is doing it with "Enterprise" and a new "Star Trek" movie with a young Kirk/Spock?McCoy Crew. So why shouldn't BBC be able to produce such a plausible setback-in-time series?
I'm sure Paul would be enjoying it, as long as they dont make him wear a wig, that is!! ;)
In a way kind of, I get ENDLESS request for David Tennant/10th Doctor stuff, but there's a whole TV show doing his stuff and they don't need my efforts included as there doing a tremendous job without me.
TheWraith has a video with the same narrator explaining the Time Lords, Gallifrey, and the 8th Doctor. Where did you get that from, or did one of you make it up? This out of sheer curiosity.
They should bring back Paul Mcgann in the new series as a one off special or make the Time War with him so we can see what happened and also see the regeneration from 8th to 9th
This was quiet good actually, It's funny everyone always states doing 8th Doctor Adventures would be too confusing for new viewers, when all they would need to do is a little video like this to explain things clearly.
@HumanHorrorMovie I don't see any black bars on the video. I see some on either side of the frame where YouTube shows its videos because they support a wide-screen format now. The video is in a square format, so there's unused, unintrusive space that doesn't really ask to draw anybody's attention any more than the white space further to either side of it.

I have aquestion. Does this mean then that Dr.Who is a rebel? Was he bad or was it just his rebelious inquisitive nature?

I've always loved the thematics of Paul McGann's doctor. the outfit, the TARDIS, his mannerisms. Its such a same that the series didnt get picked up.

they're not time lords by species... they're time lords by training and education.
their species is 'gallifreyans'

This is very informative! Was that 9th Doctor and Rose thing a way of saying, "Bugger off Doctor/Rose fans, this is about 8"?

I think McGann's TARDIS was the best.

Easily so, you really get the impression that they were building a travelling machine that looked like someone lived in it.
whereas the new one feels like its a travelling machine to get too point "A" of the Universe too point "B" of the universe.
