@sean151291 Is that so? Could you then name me a bitter that tastes even remotely close to Campari? Aside from Aperol, which is -kind- of like Campari (a cheap, tasteless Campari). Cynar, Amaro, Fernet would all work too, but they are all entirely different liqueurs. Gins are gins, granted Bombay is pure class (as is Hendrick's, Tanq 10, etc.), it's obvious to me that the truly irreplaceable aspect of the cocktail is the Campari. No argument.
@D0ST03VSKY see this is what i like about cocktails everyone has their own opinion and no two people have the same palate. personally i like the aperol in my negroni its bitters dont overpower the gin or sweet vermouth (yes i am a gin fan) i can see you prefer campari in yours and honestly i like campari as well but its hard to see it as the star of the drink when it is only one equal part of it. also gins do vary in taste as well from the botanicals that are used but quite subtly
This drink is more about the Campari than it is about the gin. Sorry, Bombay. :)

@D0ST03VSKY its equal parts everything so neither is the main part of the drink and it doesnt have to be campari it can be any bitter liqueur
