Yes Felix was one helluva great stick. F/O in first video is Beverly Brooks, good people. Fine Air could have been a great company. The overwhelming temptation to cut too many corners and save money was their ruination. The DC-8 was the star of the company. Last of the non-disposable jets, (i.e. Airbus). I worked there from 95-97 (MIA crash), and during that time we had some great crews/people working there. We knew how to have fun. :-) Woody Woodhall was my favorite. Cool dude.
@fr8dog69 We must know each other then. Thats whan I was there. Check this video out. Notice anyone familiar in thecaptains seat? "Ex-AeroMexico Douglas DC-8-51 Departing BUR for MIA". Remember Hugo Veliz?
I think the ultimate treat would be a DVD that features Fedex, UPS,Centurion Cargo or Amerijet Caribbean operations with the 727 especially on their flights to St.Vincent which is a 4000ft or less runway....
Dc-8 love that jet it's old but, still a great plane. I didn't know that their aren't automatic altitude call outs on this plane. One has to really keep their eye, glued to the altimeter in order, to make a good landing.
@LisaAnne064 I find that female pilots have more precision than men pilots, they are more professional and really nail it to perfection, I agree. Oh and I am a guy, lol.
this was captain Charlie South the flight was from MIA TO Providenciales and back to Miami the other clip is from Mia to quito.. i know i was a Flight engineer on the dc8 with Fine Air
The captain on the second leg was Felix Villaverde. He was our checkairman @ Fine Air.. He was the best pilot I had ever flown with and I've flown with alot of guys. he was also a very nice gentleman. We instructed in the sim together sometimes for 12 hours a day. Good times!
Landing at Quito, Cpt. Felix Villaverde also known as "the DC-8 Top Gun"

United Airlines was still using the DC-8-72 in 1991! UPS just retired their last DC-8 last year, I believe.

i wonder how would a glass cockpit pilot feel infront one of those
dollarboy500 2 years ago
Any pilot would have been trained by analogue - they're not born into glass and probably won't be for a while...

On my school we just sold our last Cessna 172 with G1000 and bought a Analogue instead
