We are near to buy Roland RVK 3B 4/0 2/2 of the year 1986, Format 720X1000 mm Model 638.
We need to know if this machine can print on 2/2 mode for 580x860, or 610x860, or 500x700 format paper (smaller than maximum format). Can you please send some instructions how to do change to 2/2 mode for a middle format paper like 580 x 860 ?
In my college, I've taken two classes where we ran offset presses and duplicators. The machines are fun to operate and do require a good eye and hand to work. It's quite the craft to be involved in which I'm happy I've learned. Great video!
What kind of press is that. its looks like something I ran in the 80's. A little sheet fed gestetner. Mate I wish you all the best, but I think you need to embrace change a little more.
Unfortunately there are hundreds of online digital printers taking jobs away from you because they can print 4 colours in one hit without film and plates, thats what happened to me. I had 2 Ryobis and found the work coming in the door too complicated for my presses, now I onsell on the net.
it all starts with what they call a print order theytype in the information in the computer it puts the image over the plate we can run up to a 72 inch wide web and ive seen 16 inch wide web jobs on seperate presses of course i prefer the man roland press alot cleaner then the older heidelberg m1000's we got im a 3rd pressmen i got it made i hang rolls get the next job ready get chemicals and aprentice under the head and 2nd pressmen im 21 years old well laterz im from dyersburg Tn
@Twotribes21 you make the file export it from indesign making it into a pdf file uses a computer linked to a Platemaker open processor service and other files drag your pdf file under the stop plate and disable output 5min later you have a plate
I ran a 2 colour SuperDream for years but the ink was too much.! I then opted for a Suzuki x7 and it ran well up against the popular 350 LC's, but ooh! that fuckingink! I now run my work on a VF1000R in Red, Blue, Black and White at about 11,000 RPM, beats the Heidelburg anyday, but ooh! that fuckin ink!!
I love offset printing. I took a graphics class in high school where we learned the offset method. We were also responsible for making the school paper and football programs. I still have some and they look just as good today as when they came off the press.
@the5regularguys we do jobs for the district , graduation cards, business cards, calenders and alot more other stuff and students get hired to work I getting hired monday
Good Stuff, I was looking for screen printing but this was very informative. I work for an embroidery company that also does printing but it's on shirts/ apparel. Lots of similarities between the two.
I agree. Your video is great and I appreciate the art for sure...I just found the juxtaposition striking. I'm not sure if you're implying that many or most American businesses (most of which are small) get 500% profits, but I'm pretty sure that's not the case. Trading the fruits of our labor for a fair price is a blessing to me.
Kudos! I agree with this, and provide wholesale pricing (well, as wholesale as I can and still eat)because, like you (sort of, minus the anarchy thing maybe)I hate that some companies mark up their prices so much...for the same thing I sell for much less. Making a living, and ripping people off because they're uniformed, are two different animals. I believe small mom and pop shops should be able to get the high quality printing the big dogs do...
Our company Lopez Printing Inc. actually patented a online ordering and proofing system. We turned the Internet into a vessel to help us. If you get a chance just look at our site.
I have looked at a couple of these "online design and order" sites, and the systems they use...most are unattainable for small startups like me. I offer excellent quality, and low prices. If I purchased one of these proprietary online ordering and design systems, the overhead alone (to pay for the system) would not be worth it. Why are these systems so expensive? I'm going to let you know what I think of yer site. Brb.
I just visited your site, kudos for starting up the way you did and making it to the top. And, congrats on your award as best printer 2004, 2005. I didn't see any of the products you offered online? Or, a price list?
Take a look at my print ship online, and tell me what you think. I'm interested to see what a veteran shop owner thinks of my site! :)
yea i just became a 3rd pressmen a week or 2 ago im learning so much but so much i have yet to learn i know im not hanging rolls and getting the next job ready and giveing the stackers breaks etc.. but printing starts at the reels :P lol its great
Um... I still have no idea what offset printing is, I think this is less an explination of How it works as what someone thinks of offset printing compared to other forms, with a little bit of technical explination which would only benefit someone who has had expirence with different methods of printing. So, I guess it would be a good filmstrip to be seen at a stand at a printing convention or something, but not one someone new to this sort would understand easily.
I've heard this from a few others too; most of them suggested a narrator for the technical explanations. So in the future, when I make the letterpress filmstrip, I'm going to have a narrator along with the on-camera person talking about the medium. This was my first attempt, and hopefully I'm learning from it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks 510dustmite. Alan, who created the video, lives 50 miles south of Chicago, IL. Charles, who's featured in the video with his offset printer, lives in Portland, OR.

There's a difference between being paid for your time/materials and 500% mark-ups. =)

What kind of press? I run a Heidleberg printmaster 2/c and might train on a 6/c speedmaster, if certain people get fired or quit that is!
