    HI FROM FLORIDA!!!

  • GOOD VIDEOS MUCHAS GRACIAS !!!!!:)

  • Hi mate, you are perfectly right. I am not an English native speaker (I am Italian actually), but I have lived over here in the UK for two years. Everybody in Italy does think that the æ is an E, so they have a very strange pronunciation like: flEsh for flAsh, kEsh (?) for cAsh, beck for bAck, bed for bAd, hev(?) for have, and so on. I always try to explain them it is not an E but an æ, but when I do pronounce something "at the English manner" they get it wrong!

  • Brings me back to phonics class in first grade. Its actually interesting relearned stuff you learned as a kid and realizing all the bad habits you have developed when it comes to speaking.

  • you rock, man..

  • i didn't think they used æ in any other countries, it's funny because when you say æ, then it's more aaaer, and not like ahe as on danish

  • I'll be back!

    ARNOLD!

  • Thank you very much = )

  • This videos is the best I've ever seen because you teach how to pronunciate some words sometimes we say incorrectly....thanks. greetings from Puebla (Mexico)

  • @israbose89 Thank you!!!

  • Hi, Dave! I'vwe been watching some of your videos and they are great. I've been teaching Phonetics and Phonology recently and the way we teach /ae/ is a little different... I mean, we make the difference between /ae/ and the other similar sound /A/ (the real symbol is an upside down "V") stronger. Let me give you an example: slang and slung. Don't you feel there's a remakable difference between them?

  • @MrEnrike888 Yes, there is indeed a difference :)

  • hi! i'm looking for a partner to practice my bad english!!! i need it for my job so much! Can you (or somebody else) talk with me in skype???!!! Just a few minutes!!! thanks

  • Your videos are excellent! You are so funny which makes the lesson easier to learn and a fun experience. You just make me laugh. Keep it up!

  • Oh, is good to notice, that this sound differs from that of spanish. A in spanish is more open. The english sound has a little (very small) part of e, which can be seen in the transcription of the sound æ (ae)

    Thanks for your video.

  • I love this!!!

  • Thank you very much!

    From Argentina

  • thank you!T.T

  • Most L2 in SE Asia would confuse /ae/ with /e/. It's hard for them to hear the difference between "pan" and "pen", and "bad" and bed". However, when you encourage the to open wide, they might produce "pun" and "bud". I hope would make a video that can help them to distinguish /a/, /ae/ and /e/. Thank you (^_^)v

  • Something similar occurs in Germany: most people pronounce Mc Donalds as: meck donelds :)

  • I wish all the teachers are funny like you, it will make the class more fun and exciting.
