I think this little guy is going to work out fine. I haven't had the chance to really listen to the audio, but I will take your word on it. I don't think it sounds bad and the image quality really makes up for it.
As for shake, it doesn't have any kind of control for that, like the The Flip Ultra. You just need a steady hand. This was shot with the camera in a cell phone holder and it was a smooth road, so that helps.
I'm impressed with the Mino HD, my reading had left me thinking that the shake was too bad which was one of the reasons I went with the Aiptek. But there's no shake on the freeway there at all, very nice quality all round (though the sound seems tinnier).
Have fun at AMVIV, I'm mad at them for dropping me off the email list for this year's event so am not going. Well, I do wonder why they never told me about it; been on the list since AMVIV 1. Must have been something I said.
