Have loved this album for the last twenty five years. only now am I asking myself where did this concept come from. Exactly 100 years after beginning of the age of Aquarius, 2012. The year we are expecting vast changes to the planet and the enlightenment of mankind.
i absolutely love these two song touches my heart and sends shivers down my spine, also can someone please send me a how to play on guitar link please i carnt find any thankyou and, beautiful song !!! (8)
" RUSH " is and has always been a part of my music life. They are among the best.. and their art... is truely artistic perfection of its own. I went to their " Exit stage left " concert in the early 80's.. it was magical to say the least. : )
is it just me or does this part of the song sound like when their record label said "this is your last album with us", and rush came out with this and shocked the world?
I remember the first time my dad gave me this album to listen to...blew my 13 year old world. Rush definitely should lead the Holy Pantheon of Rockers, and rule the Halls of Music History and Greatness. NO artist today can match this album or any epic bands of the era.
Rush is definitely before my time, but I grew up with them. My dad played Rush songs in the car all throughout my childhood and still does. In third grade, I knew Tom Sawyer better than my multiplication tables.
Sadly, they are quite the underrated band. The only people I know who listen to Rush are middle aged folk and band geeks - mostly percussionists - who dream of bearing Neil Peart's children. But if you show Rush to anyone who appreciates music, they love them.
The Rock Hall of Fame ignores them but thats because Rush doesn't have that much popularity, they're probably the most underrated rock band ever. But I've noticed they're not popular because nobody's heard of Rush. At my school I showed Rush to all my friends and the entire class then everybody immediately started listening to Rush, even the rap/hip-hop preppy bitches. Perhaps if we spread the music and share it with more people, than Rush will become more popular
great example of how i believe rush is more hard rock then progressive. even though they play with keyboards an synthesizers doesnt mean there always progressive.
@EvenFlowGaming What are you talking about? This is one of Rush's most progressive song. If you want Hard Rock listen to the 80's albums like moving pictures.
@EvenFlowGaming This album definitely rocked but the approach to the writing of the lyrics and music is progressive. One of the finest rock albums ever and yet the Rock Hall of Fame has seen fit to ignore these guys...bunch of douche bags.
I really pity people who think 2112 ends after Temples of Syrinx. Everything after Temples just gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it....and Ive been listening to it since 1984.
@meyouview The reason it sounds like Alex is tuning his guitar is Alex's pure genius. The story is of a man who discovers a guitar after the holocaust and is teaching himself to play it then takes it before the Priests.
Thats why you hear him hit harmonics "on accident" and hit the pick guard as well from 2:48 - 2:59 while strumming. Pure genius. Just on the strength of this song Alex is my favorite rock guitarist ever.
the line is "THAT helped destroy.." it's a crucial conjuction: "Will" is tov say that the elder race is alive. but the story claims the Guitar is what destroyed the older society, when in reality, they live and grow, waiting to return to destroy the temples!
So you see, that one little typo reallu changes the story. :)
damn right bojoe,im 47 and remember when this came out.my friend and i bith bought a copy.we played his so much the tape did break.no shit.i think rush is bigger now than in 1975.i started seeing them in 73 on the fly by night tour seen them 21x so far.too bad you cant wear out a cd.

@Bojoe777NaBl one band that i think its really good these days is The White Stripes and The Racounteurs/Saboteurs of Jack White if you like classic rock ,if you like metal too check it out Avenged Sevenfold
@Bojoe777NaBl 3 of the big 4 still rock. This is great stuff. I worked in music. One of my mentors said "All bands suck" I then asked him even RUSH? He said they were exempt. Great minds is what we need. Not video games. Zappa's dad said it best.. Shut up and play yer guitar!
@Bojoe777NaBl There isn't a band out today that compares to Rush, most suck and have forgettable songs. Its amazing how much history new artists can draw from and use so little. I blame rap and hip hop, its influence has infexted the industry to the point where we have idiots like Kanye West...imma ginna let you finish your song but I"M THE BEST RAPPER EVAH! which means nothing to music..LOL
One of my favorite lyrics ever: "There's something here that's as strong as life, I know that it will reach you." Geddy sounds so happy and hopeful, and then he switches to that killer Priest voice and shoots himself down.
Rush is amazin....hell im 14 and i lovem :DD i just heard this song not to long ago though mii dads a huge rush fan and plays this stuff its awsome i play to :P its great
Why isnt this song more well know... comming from someone whos only heard there popular songs. I wish i grew up with this music. I dont know band members, albums years.... save me from the shitty rap

Love discovery.....how could anybody not. The music, the lyrics....beautiful. His pleading to the elders.....telling them theres something here!!!! The ignorant response he recieves....and the continual pleading!!! It doesnt fit the plan??? And the jam to answer it with!!
Used to and made a lot of money, (SMARTASS,) If you are into this song you gotta be OK, just try being mor original. I get this question 10 times a day. Rock On

Love discovery.....how could anybody not. The music, the lyrics....beautiful. His pleading to the elders.....telling them theres something here!!!! The ignorant response he recieves....and the continual pleading!!! It doesnt fit the plan??? And the jam to answer it with!!

Oh come on, iPods, really? This song was made in the 70's.
Even as a joke, thinking that he's talking about and iPod is still laughable.

People, he's talking about a guitar. It takes place in the future, where music has been banned. -.-`
I wouldn't describe the iPod as an "ancient miracle"...
Dear God, this was long before my time, and *I* even don't call it an iPod.
Some of you are going to argue that you were just kidding, but I know people who seriously thought they were talking about the iPod.
