  • guitar hero warriors of rock brought me here

  • Have loved this album for the last twenty five years. only now am I asking myself where did this concept come from. Exactly 100 years after beginning of the age of Aquarius, 2012. The year we are expecting vast changes to the planet and the enlightenment of mankind.

  • Coolest Rush song ever. period.

  • i absolutely love these two song touches my heart and sends shivers down my spine, also can someone please send me a how to play on guitar link please i carnt find any thankyou and, beautiful song !!! (8)

  • " RUSH " is and has always been a part of my music life. They are among the best.. and their art... is truely artistic perfection of its own. I went to their " Exit stage left " concert in the early 80's.. it was magical to say the least. : )

  • I love that it tells a story.

  • dude this is the best!!!! \m/

  • man....Alex Lifeson.....Rush's underrated genius....

  • i absolutely love pink floyd...but seriously...rush....musical geniuses

  • Canada = RUSH, Triumph, Prism .... Hell yah baby !!!

  • Neil Peart is one of the best drummers in the world!!!

  • @TheOnlyPatrickUHate couldn't have said better !!!!

  • i love this song, and when i found it was on GHWOR i bought it instantly.....

  • what a great song/story.

    Unlike any music today....

  • is it just me or does this part of the song sound like when their record label said "this is your last album with us", and rush came out with this and shocked the world?

  • I fucking hate frost wire! "Warning this MP3 is an illegal download bla-bla-bla".

  • Have this on vinyl.... delicious

  • master piece. Rush is the best band of progresive rock.

  • @acdcrocker523 oh yeah sorry bro youtube lied to me aks for a simple song and they give ya two eh whatdya gunna do

  • I remember the first time my dad gave me this album to listen to...blew my 13 year old world. Rush definitely should lead the Holy Pantheon of Rockers, and rule the Halls of Music History and Greatness. NO artist today can match this album or any epic bands of the era.

  • @acdcrocker523 he he.. nice

  • Or notes that fall gently like rain... Still gives goose bumps since "76"

  • great album!

  • the solo on presentation just pwns.

  • one word WOW

  • Get the audio from this vid at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • wizards 2013 fits the plan

  • um...

    nice headshop...

what would sasquash say> or dine upon...

    or gaze upon

    some apelike uptight race

  • Rush is definitely before my time, but I grew up with them. My dad played Rush songs in the car all throughout my childhood and still does. In third grade, I knew Tom Sawyer better than my multiplication tables.

Sadly, they are quite the underrated band. The only people I know who listen to Rush are middle aged folk and band geeks - mostly percussionists - who dream of bearing Neil Peart's children. But if you show Rush to anyone who appreciates music, they love them.

  • \m/ ,,,, ^ ^ ....\m/

  • 3:10 best part :)

  • Is it... is it a bad thing that I'm... sexually aroused by Geddy Lee's voice?

  • 2:06 - 2:22, great tempo change

  • discovery by rush a.k.a. the tuning song

  • For a kid that just discovered a guitar, he can play pretty well.

  • @utscuba its in the soul my brother :)

  • The Rock Hall of Fame ignores them but thats because Rush doesn't have that much popularity, they're probably the most underrated rock band ever. But I've noticed they're not popular because nobody's heard of Rush. At my school I showed Rush to all my friends and the entire class then everybody immediately started listening to Rush, even the rap/hip-hop preppy bitches. Perhaps if we spread the music and share it with more people, than Rush will become more popular

  • Beautiful song!

  • This song is the best twenty minutes I have ever laid my ears upon. Rush needs no genre. It has its own genre. Go Rush!

  • 4 in romans is IV not IIII .. still ... the sound of the guitar in discovery is just a piece of art

  • great example of how i believe rush is more hard rock then progressive. even though they play with keyboards an synthesizers doesnt mean there always progressive.

  • @EvenFlowGaming What are you talking about? This is one of Rush's most progressive song. If you want Hard Rock listen to the 80's albums like moving pictures.

  • @Wa59 your right my mistake but this still a kick ass song

  • @EvenFlowGaming This album definitely rocked but the approach to the writing of the lyrics and music is progressive. One of the finest rock albums ever and yet the Rock Hall of Fame has seen fit to ignore these guys...bunch of douche bags.

  • this is how i used to tune my guitar when starting out!

  • I really pity people who think 2112 ends after Temples of Syrinx. Everything after Temples just gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it....and Ive been listening to it since 1984.

  • @meyouview The reason it sounds like Alex is tuning his guitar is Alex's pure genius. The story is of a man who discovers a guitar after the holocaust and is teaching himself to play it then takes it before the Priests.

Thats why you hear him hit harmonics "on accident" and hit the pick guard as well from 2:48 - 2:59 while strumming. Pure genius. Just on the strength of this song Alex is my favorite rock guitarist ever.

  • My favorite all time track that is RUSH. Everytime I pick up my acoustic I have to touch on this one.

  • rush changed my life from heavy doper to heavy muse!!!!

  • the line is "THAT helped destroy.." it's a crucial conjuction: "Will" is tov say that the elder race is alive. but the story claims the Guitar is what destroyed the older society, when in reality, they live and grow, waiting to return to destroy the temples!

So you see, that one little typo reallu changes the story. :)

  • Also Check out my Red Barchetta video

  • the begining sounds like alex is tuning his guitar. rush is so weird!

  • Here's the true story of 2112 (full story) explained to me by my dad, who probably listened to the whole album 100 times.

"I believed was they told me. I thought this life was good. I thought I was happy. Then I found something that changed it all.

    OVERTURE

The dictators ("high priests") ban music and the man and priests fight back and forth.

    TEMPLES OF SYRINX

    Just describes priests.

    DISCOVERY

Man finds guitar shows it to priests

    FINALE

    man kills himself. Assumed Control!!!!

  • @mvendelis so are the first 7 songs considered a rock opera? since it has a story

  • @thedon420333 u know i never really thought about it that way but..... i suppose u could put it that way

  • My favorite. :) Gaah gives you chills.

  • my favorite rush of all time!!!! thank you wmms in cleveland for ever playing these guys and breaking them into the us!!!!!

  • i learned how to play syrinx and discovery last weekend on guitar....so fun...and not as hard as youd think!

  • im 12 and see how this represents today and when it first came out it was like a warning that we ignored

  • I can't believe 2112 is just about 35 years old... still outstanding after all these years... Timeless...

  • damn right bojoe,im 47 and remember when this came out.my friend and i bith bought a copy.we played his so much the tape did break.no shit.i think rush is bigger now than in 1975.i started seeing them in 73 on the fly by night tour seen them 21x so far.too bad you cant wear out a cd.

  • theres no otrher that can equal this...

  • "notes that fall gently like rain"

  • I remember finding this album in my dads old cassettes a few years ago(age 15 or so) and, I mean cmon, comared to the "supposed" bands of nowadays, I could listen to this over and over until the tape broke, and as for the new stuff, I still have not found a new age band other than Nickelback or Thousand Foot Krutch that is good, and - these bands cannot even compare to Rush, Pink Floyd, Reo, BÖC, the list goes on people.... god help music....

  • @Bojoe777NaBl

    Nickleback sucks

  • @acdcrocker523 yeah you are right

  • @acdcrocker523 i agree nickelback is terrible

  • @acdcrocker523 nickelback doesn't suck it's singer just looks like a basic american hillbilly

  • @acdcrocker523 Dead meme is dead.

  • @acdcrocker523 Lol. Agreed. But I like ther first albums, Like Silver Side Up.

  • @acdcrocker523 such a good story

  • @Bojoe777NaBl one band that i think its really good these days is The White Stripes and The Racounteurs/Saboteurs of Jack White if you like classic rock ,if you like metal too check it out Avenged Sevenfold

  • @Bojoe777NaBl nickelback is fucking horribe

  • @Bojoe777NaBl I don't know about Nickelback - but I'm glad you discovered Rush.

  • @Bojoe777NaBl Ever heared of Bonamassa?!

  • @Bojoe777NaBl Nickleback and that thousand foot whatever band FUCKIN SUCKS!

  • @Bojoe777NaBl haaaahahahaha nickleback is fucking horrible

  • @Bojoe777NaBl 3 of the big 4 still rock. This is great stuff. I worked in music. One of my mentors said "All bands suck" I then asked him even RUSH? He said they were exempt. Great minds is what we need. Not video games. Zappa's dad said it best.. Shut up and play yer guitar!

  • @Bojoe777NaBl There isn't a band out today that compares to Rush, most suck and have forgettable songs. Its amazing how much history new artists can draw from and use so little. I blame rap and hip hop, its influence has infexted the industry to the point where we have idiots like Kanye West...imma ginna let you finish your song but I"M THE BEST RAPPER EVAH! which means nothing to music..LOL

  • @Bojoe777NaBl have u ever hear of cage the elephant?

  • @Bojoe777NaBl

Can't blame new bands though. How can you get better than Rush? You can't.

  • @Bojoe777NaBl you have reo in the same league as the rest?

  • @Bojoe777NaBl "I could listen to this over and over until the tape broke," Heh, go for it...

    We did. ;)

  • @Bojoe777NaBl you're a fucking dumbass

  • the drum fill at 3:38 is so tits.

  • @swooponthebass lol u sir have made my day and given me a new phrase to use

  • @swooponthebass Yes, and tits are good.

  • with the lyrics of this song & Red Barchetta, me thinks Peart read Ayn Rand.

  • @cossatotfalls he read a lot of ayn rand. a lot of everything, really.

  • This was the first song I ever learned on the guitar.

Always gives amazing memories when my dad taught me to play it.

  • makes me wanna post up on the beach and drink some cold ones by the ocean!!CANT FORGET A COUPLE OF FAT ONES!!LOL

  • It just never gets old... it's timeless!

  • Nice mix....This album took me from 17 to 20 and beyond...ty for posting this tune...btw I am 47 now...long live rush!

  • One of my favorite lyrics ever: "There's something here that's as strong as life, I know that it will reach you." Geddy sounds so happy and hopeful, and then he switches to that killer Priest voice and shoots himself down.

  • Rush is amazing. Enough said.

  • Rush is amazin....hell im 14 and i lovem :DD i just heard this song not to long ago though mii dads a huge rush fan and plays this stuff its awsome i play to :P its great

    RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

    -Go NEIL PEART!

  • greatest song ever written

  • Why isnt this song more well know... comming from someone whos only heard there popular songs. I wish i grew up with this music. I dont know band members, albums years.... save me from the shitty rap

  • This song could be about hoe Less Paul felt after his invention.

  • i think this song is about the discovery and quick exile of rock and roll by the "elders" in the "temples of the syrinx" very very very deep song. very metaphorical if my quotations didnt point that out already. . .

  • great f ing band

  • simply one of the greatest rock bands ever!!!!!

  • BTW.. 6:15 Fukn Blows me AWAY !

  • Simple The BEST ! Thanks for Sharing !

  • You never get sick of hearing this,it still rocks after all these years!

  • great song, great band, what else can you say

  • It doesnt get much better than this!!!

  • the presentation solo is the sickest thing ive ever heard! what pedal is he using?

  • he's just using Wah Wah

  • i had forgotten how awesome this was....

  • my favorite part of this song is presentation

  • @Hazmat0987 mine too! i like the voices of the elders.

  • RUSH is for me for sure !! my first concert June 9th 1981 , 28 years ago and I still listen to them every day . this song is amazing , what mixture of lyrics and music it just moves me . There is none other than Rush for me

  • Whoa that's increddible! lol You are a true fan that's all I can say :) I love them too but I guess I only like a couple of songs... but hey there very good songs lolz

  • the first part's to do with the guy finding the guitar then discovering how to play it, hence the build up.

still, can't blame you, rush isn't for everyone XD

  • did you listen to the whole thing? just wondering, not trying to pick a fight lol

  • Indeed !!!

  • My favorite song ever since I first heard it in 1977. The guitar is amazing!

  • i've been a fan since i heard i think limelight and spirit of radio from my friend ever not knowing who it was but i just liked it so i haven't been alive long enough to match that but still that's enough

"notes that fall gently like rain" awesome

  • one of the best recordings ever to a stoner in the 70's......i still love this.....

  • Dude best feeling ever to listen to these guys when your high...i fucking love it! Its a fucking lifestyle

  • You're not alone. There's nothing like Rush when you're bombed. Especially if you've scored some Afghan Kush.

  • ahhh shit man...the last thing i smoked was some fuckin Krypto

  • Where's Oracle The Dream, Soliliquy and Grand Finale?

  • dude know one seems to realize that this song is an overture with multiple songs and is over 20 minutes long. but thanks for this part

  • I knew that but... well, look at my username. LOL! Only 1 problem - YOUTUBE DOESN'T ALLOW VIDEOS OVER 10 MINUES LONG! Some people could but... I don't think they can upload a song copyrighted to someone else. If they did then, bye-bye channel.

  • To post vids over ten minutes you need to have like a directors account or something like that. Cause some people have videos that are half an hour long...

  • I was told this song makes a referrence to "anthem: by Ayn Rand.

  • thats true

its based on it, the major differences are that in the book he finds a lightbulb, not a guitar, and instead of killing himself he runs away with his girlfriend

  • This is from the 70's? It's awesome!!! I like Geddy Lee's voice> I think it's very unique. Love Rush--they have definitely stood the test of time and today's crap!!! I admit I love their older music--but I do like their latest album. Loved their appearance in "I Love You Man"!!!

  • Awesomeness baby..Owoooooo...

  • so special, thamk you...

  • i like the episode of the Trailer Park Boys when it had Rush and Alex was staying at a hotel in room 2112 =)

  • Outstanding job with this. Thanks so much for giving it to us!

  • the rock and roll hall of fame should be ashamed-IMASHAMED FOR THEM AND IM FROM AND LIVE IN OHIO

  • this made me have to go to the store buy a band-aid put it on my elbow and paint the wass yellow while sing abc's.

  • This gives me the chills when I hear it.

  • The first time I heard this, I got a big ass kick out of it part because Alex was tuning his guitar...I thought they put that on the record by ACCIDENT! Oh yeah, and the running water in the back, too. It all seems so funny when ur a little kid listening to this stuff.

  • hard to believe this music is from the 70s man this is the best . I saw them first Jun 9 1981

  • couple yrs ago i had a trial subscription w/ XM radio, when i hooked it up the 1st song i heard was 2112 in it's entirety. S O L D ...1 XM subsrptn.

  • rush's newer music needs more songs like these...2112 and cygnus are some of my favorite songs

    It is AWESOME.

  • You forgot to put geddy lee as vocals :O

  • I LOVE RUSH

  • Awesome song

  • haha 6:21

  • Love discovery.....how could anybody not. The music, the lyrics....beautiful. His pleading to the elders.....telling them theres something here!!!! The ignorant response he recieves....and the continual pleading!!! It doesnt fit the plan??? And the jam to answer it with!!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh come on, iPods, really? This song was made in the 70's.

Even as a joke, thinking that he's talking about and iPod is still laughable.

  • People, he's talking about a guitar. It takes place in the future, where music has been banned. -.-`

I wouldn't describe the iPod as an "ancient miracle"...

Dear God, this was long before my time, and *I* even don't call it an iPod.

Some of you are going to argue that you were just kidding, but I know people who seriously thought they were talking about the iPod.

  • Music is interpreted as one wants to interpret as

  • i like how the guy talks normally but the priests of the temples of syrinx scream

  • LOL they must have come to the future to be speaking about ipods xDDDDD

  • the guy was talking about a guitar

  • i just purchased 2 of neil pearts books, i cant wait to read them

  • they had ipods before us luckies!!
