@Rockit181 not ness. you have to think smaller turbos=quick spool at lower rpms, big turbos=later spool but add a lot more on top end, if john shepherd were to put his car on the mile, he's push over 200mph easy, but with his time and speed at 191 for the 1/4 goin from stock about 130mph to a 61mph increase with around 8-10gs i'd take that over an 80,000$+ car any day

@MrRobLacroix I'm not trying to turn this into a pointless youtube argument, but post a video response or something showing an Eclipse that can do everything as well as a Viper (of any generation, but of the same level of tune as the Eclipse). We'd obviously be looking at a GSX model, running lots of boost, a really modified chassis and suspension setup, and probably non-stock body panels. I have yet to see an Eclipse do over 205 mph.

Newer Vipers have 8.4l v10s compared to new Eclipses only being offered in v6 models... eclipses are for looks, Vipers are for power, and if you compare tuned eclipses, compare the tuned vipers, too. 1:13, I had that exact same pic of a GTS on my computer back in 1997 when the GTS first came out. I used my paintbrush program (windows 95) to make it into a convertible. Turned out pretty good.

Yeah stock Vipers maybe, a tuned GSX is fast but not as much as a tuned Viper. You can get Vipers in the 10's and 9's just by doing bolt on's. And with turbo kits you can go 8's and even 7's without gutting the car out. A tuned turbo Viper with a good driver would eat just about anything on the road or track.
@ViperSRTnACR - well you go ahead and spend that 40-50k on an older used Viper or 80-90k on a new one, and feel free to blow another 10-15k on it.. and I'd still have a daily drivable 500+ hp awd DSM that will still stomp 90% of the stuff on the track, cost less than the money spent modding the viper, and enjoy getting 25+ mpg there and back.. You do realise the eclipse gsx's 89-99 with 95-99 being the best are all wheel drive and can be made rwd for free right? 210hp stock and 500hp on the stock engine easly. You do know the eclipse holds more than 7 records right? You do know eclipses can run 6's right? Basicaly buy a eclipse a boost controler and you have a 12 sec car like a viper.
Yes I do REALIZE that the gsx has potential, I have raced several and only lost to one and I would wager it was not running the stock turbo. Boost controller only without a tune and it's running 12s?? (maybe one run before you pop the motor running too much boost) They run mid-high 14s stock, you don't make that much of a jump without some supporting mods and most definitely a tune. 500hp on stock engine hahahahahaha right.
ANYTHING can run 6s with the right parts, wrench time and tuning.
No dude the stock internals can handle up to 500hp. And if any car can run the 6s" how come the only 4 cyl to run the 6's is the eclipse? How come the worlds fastest supra is a sec slower than the worlds fastest eclipse? how come the worlds fastest skyline is a sec n a half slower than the worlds fastest eclipse? Not to mention the fact that the worlds fastest eclipse do to rules is restricted to a smaller turbo and weight added which with out that would be even faster.
You can say that it is capable of 500hp with stock internals all you want, that doesn't make it true. I could care less about Supras (they're dyno queens) and I could care less about Skylines (you're more likely to run into an Enzo in my experience).
So you're saying the 2.0L will take a bigger turbo, running A LOT more boost with out updating piston rings or anything?? No engine modifications and a bigger turbo/boost controller/tune and 500hp just like that huh?? BS.
No. im saying the engine can handle 500hp un like other 4cyls that need to be fully rebuilt for half that power.. for not a lot of money the eclipse can be made fast as a dodge viper 12 sec.

Updating pistons, piston heads, piston rings, cam(s) etc on the engine makes it NOT STOCK INTERNALS. To make the supposed 500hp at least 1 or several of the items mentioned above (even others not mentioned) would have to be updated.
I must apologize for my incredulity but with experience with eclipses I find many of your claims difficult to believe at face value.
People who talk ccrank walk dont even no what it is! Crank walk is when the crank bearings wear out. All you have to do is replace them ever so many miles and you will never get crank walk which most dont get crank walk only cause some do dont meen they all do very small percent do and your a idiot if you let crank walk ruin your engine because you know its happning before any damage is done.
Thanks again for proving my point for me and disproving your own. There's no WAY the engine with "stock internals" as you said is running 500hp. There's got to be some part updates. You won't even make that power long enough to prove in a dyno because your engine will go POP.

Newer Vipers have 8.4l v10s compared to new Eclipses only being offered in v6 models... eclipses are for looks, Vipers are for power, and if you compare tuned eclipses, compare the tuned vipers, too. Vipers are better cars, but are more expensive, eclipses are cheaper but can be made semi fast with some mods

Yeah stock Vipers maybe, a tuned GSX is fast but not as much as a tuned Viper. You can get Vipers in the 10's and 9's just by doing bolt on's. And with turbo kits you can go 8's and even 7's without gutting the car out. A tuned turbo Viper with a good driver would eat just about anything on the road or track.

@ViperSRTnACR - well you go ahead and spend that 40-50k on an older used Viper or 80-90k on a new one, and feel free to blow another 10-15k on it.. and I'd still have a daily drivable 500+ hp awd DSM that will still stomp 90% of the stuff on the track, cost less than the money spent modding the viper, and enjoy getting 25+ mpg there and back.. Can you say the same for the viper? <-- rhetorical question btw..

You do realise the eclipse gsx's 89-99 with 95-99 being the best are all wheel drive and can be made rwd for free right? 210hp stock and 500hp on the stock engine easly. You do know the eclipse holds more than 7 records right? You do know eclipses can run 6's right? Basicaly buy a eclipse a boost controler and you have a 12 sec car like a viper.

Yes I do REALIZE that the gsx has potential, I have raced several and only lost to one and I would wager it was not running the stock turbo. Boost controller only without a tune and it's running 12s?? (maybe one run before you pop the motor running too much boost) They run mid-high 14s stock, you don't make that much of a jump without some supporting mods and most definitely a tune. 500hp on stock engine hahahahahaha right.
ANYTHING can run 6s with the right parts, wrench time and tuning.

How come the worlds fastest supra is a sec slower than the worlds fastest eclipse? how come the worlds fastest skyline is a sec n a half slower than the worlds fastest eclipse? Not to mention the fact that the worlds fastest eclipse do to rules is restricted to a smaller turbo and weight added which with out that would be even faster.

You can say that it is capable of 500hp with stock internals all you want, that doesn't make it true. I could care less about Supras (they're dyno queens) and I could care less about Skylines (you're more likely to run into an Enzo in my experience).
So you're saying the 2.0L will take a bigger turbo, running A LOT more boost with out updating piston rings or anything?? No engine modifications and a bigger turbo/boost controller/tune and 500hp just like that huh?? BS.

No. im saying the engine can handle 500hp un like other 4cyls that need to be fully rebuilt for half that power.. for not a lot of money the eclipse can be made fast as a dodge viper 12 sec.

I agree that the gsx can be fast, this however is my contention regarding your statements "stock engine" "stock internals" etc
Updating pistons, piston heads, piston rings, cam(s) etc on the engine makes it NOT STOCK INTERNALS. To make the supposed 500hp at least 1 or several of the items mentioned above (even others not mentioned) would have to be updated.
I must apologize for my incredulity but with experience with eclipses I find many of your claims difficult to believe at face value.

All you have to do is replace them ever so many miles and you will never get crank walk which most dont get crank walk only cause some do dont meen they all do very small percent do and your a idiot if you let crank walk ruin your engine because you know its happning before any damage is done.

Thanks again for proving my point for me and disproving your own. There's no WAY the engine with "stock internals" as you said is running 500hp. There's got to be some part updates. You won't even make that power long enough to prove in a dyno because your engine will go POP.
If you know the bearings will wear out and replace then you no longer have stock internals right? and if that is the only thing you run along with a bunch of bost and no supporting updates bye bye engine,

@junkymuscle Do you know the differance? A 89-99 eclipse gsx is "awd" with a turbo 4g63 engine. a evo is awd with a turbo 4g63 engine!!!! There the same the eclipse just looks faster than the tall box body evo. Research. The eclpse holds all the 4cyl records. Fastest eclipse is in the 6s fastest evo is in the 8s.

i know it start with the seem engine back then because i read imports magazines to and they have 1 evo running in the 6s i know that for sure it has 1,000 hp just i don't remenber where i read about it the 99-94 is gsx turbo awd and the gs-t is from 94-99 awd mi friends used to have a 91 pretty quick & my cousin used to have a 97 it was broke all tha time.
