God bless George Carlin! Logic (1=1) effects it's own end, so the feeling of Humanity or Religion is incorporated to bridge the chasm that Deconstructionist minds have exposed in various forms throughout history under different headings. Comic minds of various talents (Carlin, Hicks, Hustler) expose the fatal fallacies of Humanism and Theism that make us stupid and destructive. Comic becomes Cynic, defers control to the herd who propagate more stupid animals claiming Truth. It eats itself.
I absolutely agree... I believe we are all part of The Universe and THAT is god...
Faith can move mountains and I respect everyone's Faith... It doesn't matter what a person has faith in as long as he/she believes in a connection to Something... Pretty much 'what he said' :)
Everyone as the right to worship who they want, just fucking respect life, dont go around killing people for your beliefs, if you do your going to burn in that same hell that was created by the mind of humans!
Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
George may be offensive to some but I understand that he is calling people on their bullshit stupid childish and magical thinking and I believe he has a perfect right to put the wind up America and her pastor PAYING congregations and for that he should take the piss out of you. Personally despite his rhetoric, I can still believe in God (I believe is Jesus Christ may he be praised and glorified) and that prayer is good.
I guess I've tried to detach myself and not have a stake in things, or at least for fun like sports, but it must be my religious background which that I can completely detach myself from the world there, especially with sexual things. People freak out when they here teachers fucking students or mom's having sex with her son or incest. I'm going, "well, maybe little sis got horny and the brother's pretty hot." you know? But giving up hope on humanity, I've seen too many good things
in this world to give up. Maybe it's because I'm only 19 and I got a lot to learn. But I do whole-heartedly believe that we can do it. George was a philosopher, but I am a dreamer. And I believe that that God is also against war. I loved George talking about the military, and it's so true. If there were no armies, then what would the politicians do? War is stupid, it's not even fun it's like a repetative board game with no ending and nothing gets accomplished. You know how much gets
solved right after a war is over? Take a look at the US Civil War. People got pissed off and each other killed millions of people, just like the Iraq War now millions dead, it's just so repetitive to me. Did everybody stop and say, "Ok we'll be peaceful now?" No. Then we had RECONSTRUCTION for the next 50 years or so. George liked seeing the big thing, the big explosions and everything. But he also liked football a lot but not so much for baseball. Thats where we split.
I love baseball, and also the big explosion just like George. But I want to know HOW it exploded. WHY it exploded. George wants to be detached looking down over us to see what happens. Kinda like, oh I don't no, GOD! I love the inside game. I love seeing the intricate political pawns that come in and this movement that was so intricately timed right after this event and that event. That's how I like to live. And I love it.
du you people know what´s better than friendship, love and wealth? to explore that there are people out there who are thinking in the exact same ways and about the exact same things that you do: I just experienced that thing with George here.
@ rodeo179 well I'm atheist I don't have any need for a faith or something to hope will fox all my problems. I believe in myself but I do agree with you a bit that as long as it makes them happy theres no problem w/ religion. But me being an atheist I get hounded and Judged all the time by faiths. I personally think there is no need to put hope into this " Devine" being. I think as long as YOU believe in yourself and make thongs happen opposed to waiting for a miracle is that YOU can be your ow
The only thing I disagree with Carlin is his failure to recognize that people need a sense of belongingness. Religion has played a part in violence but it has also comforted people in times of stress and brought communities together. There are also studies that prove that religion (not the fundo type) plays a positive role in keeping people away from gangs, and determine to achieve their goals. I c religion as a therapy group, no need to bash it if it's helping people --as long it isn't fasct
this is the kind of stuff that keeps me sane... I mean carlin, whenever i feel fucked up because of all the bullshit in our society i just remember the blow it out your ass fraise and i smile :) i smile and i wish i for a better future but there will be none for me
Like all comedians, he says the same thing in his interviews as he does, in stand up, and like all atheists and liberals, his stubborn way of arguing, is not letting anyone else talk, and when they try he raises his voice, he fucking worships the sun!?! Are you fucking kidding me, and he's putting down Christianity???
@actor4reeljsk what are u talking about.. this woman says "life is hard and u need to make up stories".. and u are on her side.. your ignorant to watch a carlin video..

@Pikintool - this is the religion I disagree with but there are belief systems in the world that actually support the use of science, exploration, etc. People use christian history to generalize every religion - that is wrong.
I would so kick this 3 people whit baseball bat for 24 hours that George was discusing whit on start because ther bonton is on 0 level (1 talks others shut the fuk up)
@2:59, is it just me or did the token black guy who believes that there's a supreme being who listens to him and does whatever he wants it to do say something about arrogance?
Am I the only one that thinks what Carlin is saying is stupid?
"Consumerism" is something that has helped us survived; it's our survival instinct trying to make sure that we need to get the things that we need to live. Everyone does have virtually unlimited wants, but due to limited resources we can't get everything we want. That doesn't stop us from being unhappy. America is the most charitable country on earth. We have our faults(wars, electing bush), but America will survive.
@ReasonIsADivineGift Way to miss the point. He's talking about us sacrificing all the great gifts we were already given -- walking upright, large brain, binocular vision, opposable thumbs -- for meaningless things. We've replaced it all, and I'm guilty as charged, with out-of-control consumerism. Bush told America after 9/11 to go out and buy things. He basically told us not to worry about something we should be worrying about.
@scientheism Im not atheist either , I think what the intrenched wolves in sheep clothes want ; is for us to blame God for all of their false religions and judgments they bring about onto others.
Even George says in this interview "look at the gift we've been given, this brain".. he knows, and I agree God isn't a man in the sky, thats bullshit. God is within and without too. God expands and experiences through us all. We see less than a percent of what exists universally.
@Honeysucklebommie God is nothing man.. thats what he says.. life is just covincedence or luck.. depending on how u look at it.. thats what he means with the brain..
@SuperTeenSpaz I hope you never have to watch someone you love die a slow painfull death, There is a time when they are still breathing their heart is still pumping, but the light of life has left their eyes, when i refer to a soul I do not mean in a religious sense,I abhor religion, But there is a life force in this universe, that which animates every living thing, all life is connected through it. religion is man made to control the masses, Spirituality is divine.
@GodTheFaceless I was not speaking for George,I was speaking from my own experience, I agree with him on all he says about religion,I don't like Preachers trying to convert me to their religion, and I don't like atheist's trying to convert me to their way of thinking either, Like George I have a brain of my own. everyone is entitled to their own belief's. but not to force them on to other's. Wether you call it mind, soul, or spirit. it is not physical, & can survive out of body.
@GodTheFaceless Read his fucking autobiography you simple minded prick. Don't speak for someone else, especially if you can't even prove what you're saying is true.

If you want to give the universe name God that is OK.
Or as the Christians call it the holy ghost.
We all believe in the universe and that it is real (a=a) and that we are a part of it(R c a).
This is my understanding of what Mr Carlin had said.
