@bluefukingreene : there is some truth in what you say..........no band will ever subscribe to a specific genre....... in the end its music........however over a period of time some forms of music acquire a very distinctive flavour that simply stands out from the rest........ you may think of the term grunge to be pejorative....... but i associate it with the sound that’s distinctive from other forms of rock.........that particular feeling of anguish, and contemplation..driven with a murky sound

@fleetingsoul1 the term grunge was literally created by the media...black sabbath and alice in chains seem to have alot in common...pearl jam and bruce springsteen and the who....soundgarden clearly liked bands like sabbath,cream,.i know all styles had to fall under an umbrella of sorts but come on mang....these bands in the grunge genre...were either rock, punk, hardcore,metal or a hybrid of a couple styles.theres a genre called post rock ambient doom,theres nintendo core whats next turdcore.
