Hey, check out my Ron Paul vs Lincoln video. If you don't believe in secession, then you believe in slavery, for you are for enslaving people to a government that they want no part of:
The dollar is going to collapse. When that happens, the States will have independence thrust upon them whether they want it or not. At that point they can hit the re-set button by calling a constitutional convention and starting over, or go their own ways...or a little of both.
At 1:35 he says "they argue that the Civil War negated that, and that's a legitimate argument to me."
Ok, if Texas was a sovereign nation, then it can't BE a "civil war--" but an INTERNATIONAL one, just like Saddam Hussein or Hitler taking over weaker countries.
Napolitano is WRONG-- the states are SOVEREIGN NATIONS by law, and have the same right to overrule federal dictates, as any other soverein nation

3:08 The States are the parents, the Federal government is the child. Right now we have a child that is out of control. It may get someone pregnant, or wind up pregnant(depending on what sex you wish to assign the federal gov, metaphorically speaking.)
AS a Yankee, (held hostage in NY) but Southern by heart...I concur. I hope Texas calls a Constitutional Convention and asserts its rights! But make room, because we are all going to need sanctuary.
The Yankee government wants us to believe that the signers of the Constitution signed what the dullest of the dullars can clearly see is nothing but a suicide pact for the sovereign States if the signing was irrevocable NO MATTER What. No way would they have done that! In 1865 supreme court justice and lincoln appointee Salmon Chase said, "States rights died at Appomattox." BINGO. A Yankee truth teller, what an anomaly! BASTARDS AND LIARS ALL!
In perhaps the most recent and powerful Tenth Amendment decision in modern history, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Mack/Printz v U.S. that "States are not subject to federal direction."

John Locke said that one has the right to rebel, and keep in mind secession is rebellion, however one has to deal with the end result which is almost certainly failure. So be prepared to have a marine break your skull. Also the civil war did not negate the right to leave, it demonstrated that there was not one.
@rjbonacolta Secession is nullifying said Government and forming a new one over your own distinct area. How is that Rebellion? If they aren't doing their jobs right they deserve to be fired. Why are you so eager to kill people? Let us live our own lives and you can live yours. One Government may not be enough for all the states in the near future killing people and forcing them to live under yours ain't the answer. says a lot about you. Without Secession the Government can do whatever it wants.
None of the states who ratified the constitution or the articles of confederation would have done so if they could never leave. 2 of the states had that right aknowledged when they ratified that constitution. That right applies to all the states. would it really be so bad for Massachusetts to run massachusetts or Texas to run Texas? Why do you want other states telling you how to run things and live your life?
After Jefferson Davis was captured and imprisoned when the Confederacy fell in 1865, the US Government kept him locked up for over 2 years trying to decide what to do with him. Putting him on trial for treason would mean that the government would be putting SECESSION on trial. They feared the outcome of such a trial and let Davis free with a "mock up" bail hearing.
Just a little something else that the history books fail to mention.
@Scoforever The several states need to return to a confederation. Federations lead to nationalism and nationalism leads to socialism, the State being sovereign and the people being subjects of that sovereignty, under a governor and president.

I'd back it. I'd stand up for Texas any time, we have the right to secede. I just doubt we have the will...I'd like to see it put to a vote.

If Texas does it, I'm moving there. Texas has something that the federal government seems to be missing. which is common sense.

Secession is legal as far as I'm concerned.

The states need the right to secede to keep the federal government from ignoring the basis of federalism.
