VINCE. YOUR BENCHING WAS NONE THE LESS AMAZING TO SEE. AND THE FACT THAT YOU REALLY AREN'T HEAVY IN BODY WEIGHT. FROM WHAT I COULD TELL YOU LOOK TO BE ABOUT 210- 215. IS THAT ABOUT RIGHT VINCE? BOTTOM LINE IS THAT YOU'VE INSPIRED OTHERS, LIKE MY FRIEND DAN, TO START WORKING OUT. IF ONLY ALL OF US COULD INSPIRE OTHERS TO IMPROVE, WHAT A BETTER WORLD THIS WOULD BE. SOUNDS CORNY, BUT TRUE, ALL THE SAME. I'LL GIVE YOU A SHOUT SOON VINCE. TAKE GOOD CARE, JOHN
@Jumpybeaver I am hovering just above 200 lbs. According to a recent body composition test I need to lose 30 lbs of fat and I will still no be too low in bodyfat. You are not corny. I have found that by training the way I do, not only can more people rehabilitate back from many serious injuries, but I also experience what some people call a mystical experience. I perfer to call them neurological events or spiritual orgasme. These events cause a positive feedback that inspires a lifter.
I employ the spiritual carrot. Many times that I train I experience events beyond simple endorphin bliss. It is so rapturous that it makes one realize that we are part of God, the Creator or Creation (for those who do not believe in God) This feeling is so intense - it is something that you constantly hunger and making gains or improving your performance increases the frequency and intensity of this positive neurological event.
I want to share this with everyone. Anyway this feeling compels a lifter to always go forward.
I have to go to a rally, but I want to emphasis that you may find the 2 other videos with the same title but has part 2 & part 3 which is a lengthy discussion of many of my ideas and theories. I think the discussion will have you asking questions that you may have never considered before.
Please check it out and give me feed back, questions or concerns.
I forgot to mention... The reason why I am selling the DVD's and tee- shirts is becasue I want to turn a property I own to a non-profit organization that houses disabled Veterans and even though I am not looking for a dime in return of the gift and though I have a hellva lot of equity and not much debt... the I.R.S. would charge me 30 some thousand dollars that year. I can't afford that on a government pension, so I am selling products that people can use.
Though it is too lengthy to tell you how I got to this level (In fact the manual I wrote is 600 pages long) it is not rocket science. Once you see how I break it down you and most people will be surprised to see how simple it is and how most of us have a tendency to put out maximum performance each and every set.
I have found that high volume to start off is good, lots of sandbag sets and spiced throughout the workout specific sets must be performed to all out failure.
You asked if I do dips, I have but not lately. I do inclines and flyes and I feel that a lot of emphasis should be put on the shoulders and triceps - meaning the care should be taken that both of those muscles should be proportionately within certain strength ranges of the bench in a variety of rep ranges.
I feel that Behind the Neck Presses are essential and Tricep supine extension.
I must confess that those 2 areas need more work to go up.
In the 600 page manual which I have created (soon to be on DVD) with added features such as videos through out to give demonstrations, I take everyone through all the various training programs - All of which I have experiemented with - All of which I found to have both strengths and weaknesses. (Most people do). i critique these programs and why they fall short. Frank Zane and Dave Draper and others liked my manual so much they donated pictures
VINCE I JUST SHOWED THIS VIDEO TO A FRIEND WHO IS OUR AGE. HE COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT HE WAS WATCHING. YOU MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY. INCREDIBLE COMES TO MIND
I must confess, it did not feel easy. Not even as easy as the time I did 62 reps in 60 seconds the first 10 to 20 of those I did 3 reps per second as compared to 2 reps per second in this video. That is a 33% drop in power output. The name of the game is not only to increase the amount of weight you can do in any rep range, but to increase your workload and power output over any given unit of time.
My goal is to have people understand I am not a genetice freak just average.
It is my belief that practically anyone can do as well as I have performed.
Steroids are not needed, Expensive suplements are not needed, Just a simple basic eating routine.
What I have learned is that even though youthful levels of testosterone is not needed to reach where I have, Young men and women will perfrom far better due to their youth and optimal hormone profile.
It is all about proper training. As many of my old high school buddies will tesitify
@vulcanvinny - (Continued from previous) I was involved in what was called very eccentric training methods. Yeterdays eccentric training routines are now considered cutting edge stuff used currently by NFL Athletes, MMA fighters, et cetera. I have studied their weight training routines and I can see that they are doing better, however, they are finally training the way I use to. They employ much of what I use - However, they do not do all the necessary things that I employ. Paea should do mor
By the way, I don't mean to make it sound like I am trashing Steve Paea, the fact is - if he kept up with his usual training protocols and added in some of my methods, He would bencing 300 to 400 pounds for at least 50 reps, even a 100 reps is not out of the question AND he would be doing the first 20 to 50 in 3 ot 4 reps per second. Once again, I must emphasize, If I can do something - ANYBODY can do bettter - A LOT BETTER (people with metobolic disorders may be an exception)
AMAZING VINCE. I COUNTED 46 REPS, FAST REPS YET, WITH WHAT LOOKS TO BE ABOUT 250 LBS. IS THERE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING THAT CAN MATCH YOUR STRENGTH. YOU EASILY BEAT THE NFL RECORD. GOOD TO SEE YOU'RE STILL THE WAY YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN. JOHN DELANEY
Thanks for the compliment. As far as if other human beings can match my strength the answer is of course and much more! Remember, Steve Paea has done 49 reps - although I have beaten that record more than a few times. As I stated in the videos that are the 2nd and 3rd part of the lifting video is that a good aquantince of mine not only holds the world record in the Bench Press for his age 48 and 255 weight catagory (Drug Free). 610 lbs. (With a shirt)
By the Jumpybeaver... there are more than a handful of people on YouTube who have beaten the NFL record - Ronny Coleman is reputed to have done close to 80 reps with 225 - However he is 5 Ft. 9 In. in height and weighs 320 fairly ripped. The other guys are powerlifters - also huge - none of them I dare say weigh as little as I do, nor are they old enough to be someone's Grandfather as I am.
Oh, for the record, the weight I used in the Video was 230 lbs. not 250.
My friend who does 610 with a shirt will finish off a bench workout with 505 for 2 or 3 reps. (without a bench shirt) One of the owners of the gym (Iron Works Gym) in Cresswell Oregon saw him finish up and decided that for his efforts his was to be the new record up on the board - Udo a former West German Olympic Shotputter held the record of 485 for years - Udo weighed 280 lbs.
The owner spotted me doing 430 lbs.with a pause at the end of a 21 set workout & put up my record.
It depends on what type of advice you are looking for?
If it has to do with rehabilitation, I cannot advise you, since I am not a licensed doctor, however, if you have a sticking point in your performance I would be glad to take a look at your question.
