  • WHAT CRAP WATCH MY VIDEO AND SEE WHAT A REAL BROOKLYN NY ACCENT IS.

  • More importantly you stress the B at the front, helped me more.

  • there is NO RULE on how to say this

  • You can give a T, a R sound as well

  • hey your videos are excellent, all the mislikes are probaly from nycers

  • this is actually really good thanks :D

  • Jill Zarin talks like this haha.

  • Im italian and I live in the bronx so my parents have an italian/bronx accent but ur teaching a freaken thick accent that nobody even talks with ........pretty retarted (no offence)

  • I sorta talk like this, but this is a FAKE, I"M TRYING TO HARD ny accent. PLEASE, let a new yorker teach the accent.

  • Im from NYC and I don't talk like this. o.O She makes New Yorkers sound dumb -.-

  • It's funny I'm the only dude from Pittsburgh who sounds like he's from NY. The ironic thing is I was never born there or raised there for a short amount of time. I have relatives who moved to NY after they come from Italy. I've listened to my dad and when he speaks with or words or o words or words that have a or sound in them or a short o sound to them he sounds like hes from NY too but came over from Italy when he was 9. Since my aunt and dad are Italians and they have no Italian accent.

  • we? SHE AINT FROM HERE NEW YORK and please i dont talk like that.

  • I have heard both Bostanians, and New Yorkers talk like this. They're similar. Take Texas, and S.C. both sound southern, but are also a little different. I have heard the word Boston said like this in both areas: Bawston, and Bahston, the first "Boston" sounding longer, and more drawn out. To me that is the New York accent. The second "Boston" sounding more shorter, and not so drawn out. To me, that is a Boston accent. Again, my opinion.

  • I think New York City, and New York state, is what people get confused with. I have heard many people from New York City, such as Brooklyn, or Queens, talk like this, WITH HEAVY ACCENTS. Oh yeah, those same people, were also rude. Then again, I am from the South, and supposedly we're all "'bout dem manners, and hospitaaaaalitay!" Ha ha. Just my opinion...

  • I've lived in NY my whole life and no one talks this way... shes taking this from like a 1990's mobster MOVIE the movies arent real DUMBASS BITCH

  • press 8 rep. she says your a devel!

  • "While They Say BeDduh" , "We Say Better" . Im From Nyc , And shes making it seem as if People From New York Are Some Aliens Who Dont Know How To Talk . Smdh .

  • This woman is full of crap - she has little idea as to what she'd talking about, and is she is a NYC native something is wrong, I'd say there is NO way she is.

  • UHH WHAT? no NEW YORKER sounds like that. That's rappers.

  • THEIRS is a very distinct d, but OURS is very subtle. umm... what is she making us new yorkers like aliens or something?

  • @brianna26xx It's ridiculous, have you seen how she does our English accents? :P

  • i think she sounds funny speaking normal, but then again i'm from the south

  • Who needs this!and plus she dosent needs say they.there not a diffrent fuckin speicies!!

  • "write this down" no im not gonna fucking write this down

  • write this down... FUCK YOU

  • Omg people in new york do not think about these detailed things every time they want to say a word.

  • I lived in New York for about a year, and I've never heard people talking like this

  • @MegaDev2010

You probably lived next to generic boring people with no identity.

  • @iAMcooooooool that is true

  • @MegaDev2010

    hahaha

  • BEDDAH

  • Uhh..I was born and raised here in NY. Still living here. And I say "better" how she says it when she is referring to "we." I do NOT say it(and don't know anyone else who also says it) like.."behdda" like a Family mob boss..

  • I am speaking to you from the Cabinet Room at 10 Downing Street.

This morning the British Ambassador in Berlin handed the German Government a final note stating that, unless we hear from them by 11 o'clock that they were prepared at once to withdraw their troops from Poland, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this country is at war with Germany.

  • yea i lived in brooklyn for 23 years born an raised and some of what shes saying sounds alot like ny but some is just over doing it but most true

  • She changes the expression in her eyes every time she demonstrates the accent.

  • I'm from New York and this accent definitely DOES exist, but I believe it is mostly spoken by Caucasians living in CERTAIN areas of New York. For those people, she is not exaggerating AT ALL. It is that thick. The younger generation of New Yorkers don't really adopt this thick of an accent. If you're from the Bronx or maybe even Manhattan, you may not know what she is talking about at all. But if you've talked to some people in Queens or Brooklyn, it's there.

  • @jobanni150 agree completely. accent is dying

  • you dont know how lovely you are

  • isnt she lovely

  • shes saying its vouals and stuff NO its slang betta dem dat mann she rong

  • I'm not writing it down

  • I am not gonna wright it down I´m not at school

  • LOL

  • The video is for actors, and actors also often portray a stereotypical image in order to connect with the audience better. The accent may not be that sharp in real life, but that wasn't important to the making of this video.

  • @mastercricket101 not good actors

  • To the two most thumbs up. Get used to it. I live in the country and everyone thinks we have low IQs and speak with this heavy country accent. She has to overemphasize to help understand the accent. It is just an accent....nothing more...nothing less....It derives from that area hence why it is called a New York Dialect. Anyone with a good mind knows just because you live there doesn't mean you have the accent. The only thing that is making you look "retarded" is the fact you assume.

  • Love all the haters on here. Some of you really don't realize that you guys actually sound like this. Sure she is exaggerating a lot, but that's because she's trying to teach, which has to include example. I'm in a voice and diction class where we're learning the exact same way. One you know how to form the words with the ccent and speak them quickly, the overexaggeration disappears.

  • @SlamminStam

I don't know anything about any accent at all except my own, but I believe every word you said. Seems very logical to me. I want to learn the accent and I will be following her instructions. Your possitive comment is very uplifting and MAKES me want to learn. Thank You.

  • Goddam, lay off, folks, this is for actors. Actors doing an accent often do the stereotype of the accent. I've lived in Minnesota my whole life, and I don't talk like the guys in Fargo. Most people don't. Onstage, you're doing a caricature of it.

  • wtf I have lived in NY all my life and I don't know no one that talks like this. I mean, some people do, but most of us don't. Its crazy!

  • i already use d for t lol and i dont speak in that accent

  • Thankyou so much for these!!! Am currently doing Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and this has really helped get vaguely close to a new york accent!!

  • @EvenuallyBidden

honey, new yorkers dont sound like that.trust me we DONT.ignore what that lady says cause she is making things sound stupid.

  • your doing a very great job with these :D are u a teacher??

  • we say bed-ter

  • "I;m doing so much Bedda" thats not new york at all

  • who is she referring when she says while ours in a very settled d?

whos trying to speaking like a new yorker?...

is this for actors or someone thing learn?

  • @purpleheart300 she's saying "subtle" d, not "settled"

  • @fizzletto3 oh ook

  • That's not what is happening - they are saying "beddah" - so they are not pronouncing the "r" at the end and the schwa sound becomes an "ah" - who is this chick and what makes her think she knows what she is talking about?

  • she is so hard to look at :( ruff ruff

  • You New Yorkers who keep saying she doesn't sound like us just stop--STOP! The fact that you are from New York--some all your lives, doesn't make you the best qualified to make this judgement simply because you've heard it all your life and it sounds normal to you. Ask someone from southern California--Los Angles and I'll tell you this does sound like New Yorkers. Yes, it is over emphasized to make a point for people like me who live in California who don't hear this accent at all.

  • wtf fuck u hoe

  • why is a southern country bumkin trying to teach a new york accent???? rofl

when she said "before" she stretched her 'o' madd long she said "beefoooorrrrrr"

its suposed to be "befor" thats how u pronounce it...i hate southern ppl thats y im moving

  • JUST BE YOURSELF

  • no...people say i have a new york accent and i dont talk like that

  • apparantly shes an expert at this.

  • Unless she means someplace upstate New York, she does not sound like someone from New York. If she is talking about New York City, there are 4 distinctive accents within NYC: 1) Manhattan 2) Jewish American 3) Irish American 4) Italian American. The Italian & Jewish American accents are the most distinctive. Jewish being very nasally and whiny. Italian being very strong, very thick, impossible to lose or fake. She doesn't sound like any NY accent I ever heard.

  • i want to fucking smack this bitch in the face.

  • yea its a clear d but not sooooo much emphasis as she does..

  • what an embarrassment ! we don't sound like this !

she makes us sound mentally retarded !

  • im southern, ive lived in ny and i say boddle, doa, and say yall.

  • This bitch is useless at accents, all her British accent vids got taken down they were so shit, she needs a new career...

  • YOU need practice because YOU are the teacher and YOU cant do it right.

  • for some reason your "D" sounds clearly like an "R" to me.

as you where saying Better as BeRRer and not Bedder.

  • Hey, ive posted 2 new videos on my page -please check them out! Would love any video responses and nice comments  (related 2 this video!)

  • Nobody talks like that any more. But I do remember older people that spoke like that. The accent has softened. As the city went from being an Eastern European, Italian, and Irish city to a Latino and African American City the accent has evolved greatly since 195. This video is teaching the viewers New York circa 1945.I am sure there are 80 year old New Yorkers who still speak like that but that is most certainly not the accent of anyone born on that year or after.

  • You all sound like a bunch of little girls. So YOU don't sound like her. Big deal, she sounds right to everyone else.

This isn't the only video on youtube, you weren't forced to watch it.

  • She is so far off...I'm from Long Island and I don't sound anything like any of her videos. Not "bedda"...that would be Sicilian for beautiful haha. "Better" sounds more like "beddur."

  • its ironic you said that in this context because few sicilians in sicily who aren't 50 years + speak like that (tho I wish they still did! bedda magra!)

  • wtf lol what is the point in this people in NYC can speak english and understand it

  • @haywoodbadman10 - people who want to learn regional accents, theater, acting, etc.

  • I don't say better like that...

  • i lived in new york and now i live 10 min away fom manhattan and the new york accent isn't as heavy as that..

  • I'm from New York, Manhattan, sound like a valley girl. ROFL

  • nobody says better like that. i've lived on long island my entire life and have never heard that. she's crazy

  • you should come down to brooklyn mac.

  • @gvsgangsta15

You probably just said that and it sounded like "Lwong Oiland my hwole loif"

  • I'm been livin in new york all my life dude she is full of shit.

no one sayd BEDDA you'd get ya ass kicked son if anyting its beTTa dumbass

  • I talk like that.. and haven't been jumped not even If I looked for it! nice atempting fail at being funny though toots.

  • this is friggin retarted

  • i like kermit

  • For the life of me, I don't know why anyone would want to have a New York accent. I've tried to rid myself of it for years. Although mine has a slight "Joizee" twang, it's not a difficult task to master. Just picture Warner Brothers' Bugs Bunny...his dialect is 1/2 Brooklynese and 1/2 Da Bronx. Voila!

  • I have lived in New York my entire life and there are those who sound like this. But most people don't have that heavy of an accent. She has to overemphasize so that someone completely unfamiliar with the New York dialect can hear what makes it distinct.

  • @FM897 so here come the planes,hi mom ,im not in right now, hello this is your mother

  • @liverpool80000seater What the heck are you talking about?

  • @FM897 i dont care what she sounds like

  • @FM897 This is for actors. Ever saw "Anything Goes"!!

  • dont know what accent she speaks but its realy annoying and hard to listen to....

  • this is too hard to watch..i've lived in NY my whole life and no one speaks like this! she's making us sound retarted!

  • @JayMac3180 Yeah...she actually gets me angry with how abysmally wrong she gets every accent she 'teaches'. I find myself mocking her and ranting back at the computer....hmm...not healthy

  • @JayMac3180 ha ha not this extreme but she's right on the money. You don't notice because you and everyone you know has the same accent.

  • Hey man this lady is stupid but shes just teaching it the way she nows it i mean if u youse speak wit a tru brooklyn accent than youse make a video

  • Comment removed

  • She means like oldtime like in the movie newsies you shouldn't get rude

  • ????? i say better, not bedda lol

  • Right now I'm between WTF and STEREOTYPICAL BISH!!!!!!

  • @nirvanarose11 how is it stereotypical? that's so stupid.

  • lmao. i love reading comments on this lady. she is a str8 up fewl

  • You're pissing me off

  • This bitch annoys the living shit out of me.

  • you guys are all funny :P

  • I feel like this is a joke- "Go ahead get your paper, you may need to write this down"

  • sshut the F up

  • woah what accent does she have normallllyyy???

  • well obviously you guys from new york say its stupid

    because your there 24/7

its the same way with people from other regions

  • shes gud mate

  • I'm not an expert but I take Woody Allen's way of speaking as a model for hardcore NY accent and he definitely talks like that :).

  • kill yourself

  • She makes everyone from NY look like total douche bags. I definitely don't freak out every time I say the word "better". I sort of say "bedda" but I don't say "BEDDEEEHHHHHSHSHZZZ!!!"

  • I know how you feel. She can't do British accents either. Stupid woman!

  • non-rhotic R, baby.

    Like buddah!

  • wow...some of this is so stupid, some is true but most isnt

  • the only people who speak like this are middle aged to old people....yes there are people who still speak like this but you rarelyyy hear it.

    oh & i'm from new york...so i know what i'm talking about

  • she wants to be a new yorker so bad, so let me heat a stainless steel yankees bat over an open flame and ram it dry right up her butthole twisting and turning it in and out. then put it in her mouth and make her suck the peanut butta off of it. Now I feel beDDa..

  • go away jectv. nobody likes u. i think her accent's really good

  • She sounds more ike she's doing a Jewish Jersey mother accent, people in NY don't speak like this...

"you bedda find yuhself a gud Jewish husband girlie"

  • Some people in New York do sound like this... All of you need to STFU... Because half of you are not even born in New York (thats if you even live there)... Suck a cock.

Also this is how people in Jersey talk also....

  • i kno rite? ppl r so mean. she's actually good

  • How to imitate Fran Drescher.

  • You are an asshole. You are not an expert, you have never even been to New York. I live in Brooklyn. I do not speak like that. That is such a stereotype. What the hell is that. its not aw, its er. We don't say "bedda", we say better-with a slight d. You are a fu*!@#$ asshole

  • im from ny!! and i dnt tlk like tht!

  • same here!!

  • zzzzzzzz..... you need to give more examples to make it more interesting. Bring in actors to demonstrate that do not sound like Bella Abzugh every time.

  • Dude this is how jews speak , its a jewish accent not New York accent

  • das jus sad im from new york n we don soun like dat

ok ur TH become a D n da TT becomes more like a light D so bottle would b bodle or better would b beda lol u have ta hear a real 1 ta undastand

  • beddah..i'm doing so much beddah...thats not NYers, its just old jewish ladies from long island

  • i wonder how her double T combinations would sound with my dick in her mouth...

  • ultra d oh your smart what a genious

  • fuck off you daft cunt i dont talk like that you know nothing

  • she has a point on this one. i do hear that a lot from old school new yorkers.

  • Totally inaccurate. Who is THEY? New Yorkers use R's instead of D's in double T conversations. As I said before, SHARRRRRAP.

  • Actually she covers the hard R if you watch all her videos... I am from New York, but lost my accent... Shes actually pretty good.

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOL

for ur records lady.. it's called "American Flap"

and btw she meant New York, india not america

    hahaha << kidding

    i feel Bedder LOOOOL

  • it sounds more like an italian american. not just a new yorker

  • Not even. I'm Italian American, born and raised in Brooklyn, and she sounds ridiculous.

  • This lady is a stupid bitch. If i had my way with her i would probably smash her head in cause this isnt even accurate or funny,.

  • have u ever been to New York?

  • Yeah they do....only in Spike Lee movies......hahahahahahaha

  • omg. ack. you fail. who did you learn this from?

  • Oh NO NO NO..... Nobody talks like that here in New York.

  • Every region is different. Just like areas of Texas are different. Georgians sound nothing like the Carolinas....
