i've been playing for 3years now,... my skills don't reach higher then "afterlife - threat signal"...

any advise on training my skills?

i'm trying to play all kinds of bands for training my shredding skills (unearth, sylosis, threat signal,...)

and for sweep picking, i'm mainly doing sylosis and unearth...

but... it's not that simple... (i play 3years, that's 3-4 hours EVERY day)

@Metalorb ive been playin for about a year and a half now, with about 3 to 4 hours a day as well. on easy way ive seen to get good fast is push yourself to what you cant do until you get it. im into the same stuff like you are threat signal, unearth and stuff. threat signals older stuff uses drp c stuff (obviously) and get pretty easy after learning something like revision or severed. i dont play much unearth cause i dont have a seven string. but besides that.. just keep pushing urself

so i play alot of unearh ^^ i keep pushing myself everyday, but the problem is, when i played for about two years, my "skills" still get better, but it takes ALOT more time :)

when i played 2 years, i mastered cannon rock - jerry C

now i don't get as much progress as i would like to

@Metalorb yeah, same here. my equipment kind of sucks, im still using a squier and a practice amp....... damn.... i mostly play my acoustic, which sounds pretty good with hardcore and metal, but besides that, my guitar sucks. i just snapped a string earlier and almost smashed it. so i dont know what im going to do. no money sucks, im looking for a scector guitar with a Line 6 Spider IV 75wt Tube amp, but its kinda out of my money range. any cheap suggestions for equipment you have.

(J&D = 158€) (Jackson Warrior (XT-series) = 437€) (ESP LTD SC-207 = 418€)

then i have a FAME amp, (hybrid... 100€ 60watts... (it sucks) i'm planning on buying a Roland Cube... (those are pretty good for playing at home,... very could actually) and for gigs, i have a Peavey Valveking Fullstack (about 800-1100€ total)

@Metalorb i guess the only answer is: take your time, give yourself time. i would be damn angry if you could pull off all my sick licks after playing 3 years or 4 years (im playing for 17 years or so now, so yeah, you`d understand :D)

Incredible phrasing. Per Nilsson I definately see, have you ever had anyone compare your playing to Oli from All That Remains as far as your phrasing is concerned? Personally, I think you smoke Oli as far as technique, but that guy is a master of writing solos that are put together in a line kind of like stories. Anyway, keep it up!

You use the PAF7's that come with that guitar? I've been interested in some 7s and can't decide on pickups. I figure at this point a Crunch Lab is inescapable for most situations.

But your tone is great! You got PAFs?

@GuillermoSmyser The Crunch Lab is a beast. When I had my Musicman I was floored with that setup. The K-7 comes stock with PAF-7's, they're rather low in the output department, but they warrant a pretty sweet lead tone with tons of cool harmonics.

@ChrisFeener Pull it out sometime and you'll notice that there's a little rectangle (knife edge) on each side of the trem and THAT is whats supposed to be parallel with the body. The baseplate (well, the whole unit really) is actually supposed to be angled forward a bit (it's simply part of the design). It's the same way on the Original Edge, Edge III, FX Edge and the FX Edge III. The only ones that are parallel to the body are the edge zero, edge pro, edge zero II, edge pro II and all the TRS's
